Unable to Pair Phone:
^ Is the phone compatible? Check ElsaWeb for the latest UHV-High Overview technical bulletin that contains the phone compatibility list.
Tip:
Many newer phones not contained in the list will work with the 9W3 Bluetooth system. However, VWGoA can not guarantee compatibility with this
system.
^ Verify the phone settings are correct.
^ If the phone is not on the list and unable to pair, have the customer see if a software update to the phone is available. This can help for phones
that are over two years old.
^ Try to pair another phone to the system. If it is able to be paired, it is likely a phone issue.
^ Are you able to talk to the UHV-High module through address word 77? If not, verify wiring is correct before replacing the UHV-High module.
^ Are you only able to pair if the phone is right next to the module? Try swapping a phone antenna from a known good vehicle and see if the
concern is corrected.
Sporadically Unable to Pair Phone:
^ Is the phone powered down periodically? A phone is similar to a computer. The phone operating system needs to be rebooted weekly.
^ Did the time out period for pairing end. You have five minutes from the time 15 power is applied to the vehicle to pair the phone.
^ Verify the phone is not going into sleep" or dormant" mode.
^ Verify the phone settings are set up to auto pair", if applicable.
Calls Dropped Sporadically:
^ Does this occur in a certain geographical area? If so, this is a problem with the cell phone network.
^ Is the phone & software on the compatibility list? If not, this could be a phone software concern.
^ Are other devices trying to pair with the system such as a Bluetooth headset or other aftermarket equipment?
^ Is the phone powered down periodically? A phone is similar to a computer. The phone operating system needs to be rebooted weekly.
^ Is the antenna on the control module damaged due to outside factors? This will limit the internal range of the control module.
Poor Audio Quality:
^ Test the phone against another phone where the problem is not experienced. The quality of phone sound varies between cell phone
manufacturers.
^ Is the phone on the compatibility list? Baseline against another phone that is on the list or does not experience the problem.
Voice Recognition Inoperative:
^ Is an audible beep being heard when the push to talk on the steering wheel is pressed? Speaking the word help" when the beep is heard will
verify the system is working correctly.
^ Is the push to talk button being seen in the measure block? Use Guided Fault Finding for the steering wheel electronics (AW 16) module to see
these values.

^ Customer's phone book not downloading for voice recognition? The UHV-High voice recognition phone book is manually entered by the user. It
is separate functionality from the MFI / RNS-510 phone book download.
^ Is another user trying to use the phone from the person who entered in the phone book? Clarity is necessary for multiple users of the vehicle
when entering in entries to the voice recognition functionality.
^ Is the vehicle now owned by a second owner? Language (i.e. Spanish, French) can be changed by the last two digits of the control module
coding. See the 9W3 UHV-High overview technical bulletin to recode module.
Note:
Warranty claims for recoding a customer's vehicle to attempt to switch the language settings will be debited.
Audio streaming inoperative:
^ UHV-High (9W3) does not have this functionality. Only UHV-Low (9W2) and UHV-NAR (MY 2011) has this functionality.
Phonebook Download via RNS-510 and or MFI Inoperative, Sporadically Inoperative, or Incomplete Download of Contact List:
