This Insane VW Golf GTI VR12 Has Two Engines, Makes 1,600 HP

The Volkswagen Golf GTI enjoys a massive enthusiast following, and as such we鈥檝e seen some crazy customized variants through the years. All-wheel drive GTI conversions, massive engine swaps, widebody kits, it鈥檚 all been done. However, we鈥檝e never seen anything remotely like this green monster, which pretty much takes everything we just mentioned and combines it into one car. As for the engine swap, it鈥檚 actually more like an engine addition. Look under the hood of this GTI and you鈥檒l see a VR6 engine with a turbo bolted up - not an uncommon sight in the modified VW scene. Look in the back, however, and you鈥檒l see another turbocharged VR6. All combined, the engines are said to produce 1,600 horsepower (1,193 kilowatts), managed by a pair of gearboxes that can be operated separately or linked together. For that matter, the GTI owner mentions in the video that all of the car's powertrain components can function independently.

At one point the GTI drives away with just the front engine running, and there are separate brake controls for doing individual front-and-rear wheel burnouts. How freaking cool is that? As you鈥檇 expect, a twin-engined all-wheel drive GTI with 1,600 hp is fast. This video shows the car making a half-mile pass at the Pikes Peak Airstrip Attack, where it reached 183.74 mph (295.7 km/h) in what the owner said was a scary run. Considering the car lacks any appreciable aerodynamic tweaks we can totally see it being a handful at high speed. At least the parachute did its job. The video then jumps over to some quarter-mile drag racing, where the GTI runs 9.06 at 156.9 mph (252.5 km/h) after doing its cool front/rear burnout procedure. Sadly the time couldn鈥檛 be topped, as the Frankenstein VW obliterated its gearbox - or rather, one of its gearboxes - on the next run.

5,830 US) on the road, with 120,000 kms (74,500 miles) on it. That makes it the best value I've seen for a car, period, considering the age, condition, quality, type of automobile and reliability. Of course, your search will vary. The features are a big draw, as is the reliability, which carries a very good reputation. Doing my research, I found that the 2000 and 2001 models had some issues, but the 2002 and 2003 are fine. The example I got was absolutely flawless. The interior was in brand-new condition (no wrinkles on the leather even) and drove like a brand new car - no squeaks, rattles, or bad noises of any kind. This was very impressive compared to other cars I've seen of the same age and mileage. One of the bigger features of this Maxima is the use of the 3.5-liter version of Nissan's VQ V6. This engine is used in many Nissan and Infiniti products, but perhaps made most famous in the 350Z and G35 cars.

Nissan/Infiniti use a fancier exhaust to give the engine a more exotic sound in those cars, and it's a real shame that the exotic exhaust note isn't present in this car. This engine has won a lot of awards, and in some ways it's easy to see why. It's incredibly smooth and fast-revving, and produces great power all the way from idle to redline, building smoothly with no dead spots in the rev range. What I personally don't like about it is that it makes close to 50 hp less in this Maxima than it does in some other cars, which is a huge difference. I also don't like that the sound has no character to it. This is not a big issue to most people, but to a car enthusiast like me, it matters - it sounds pretty utilitarian, like a Ford minivan V6 or something. Lastly, I dislike how it requires premium fuel. My other complaint with the Maxima is that the suspension just doesn't have the right balance.

But the reality is that it has - and this is what the numbers look like after 4,360 miles behind the wheel. How does that compare with petrol? Obviously that figure should be judged for what it is - purely based on domestic charging only, and representative of anyone who has a charger at home, purely uses this, and is a heavy-footed driver like me. But in a nutshell, and compared with a petrol model, that's a whole lot less money than you'll spend at the pumps. I drove a Volkswagen Golf 1.0 TSI 115 SE Nav over the summer holidays by way of comparison, and it was an interesting exercise. On one hand, I loved the additional range from a tank of petrol, but missed the convenience of charging up at home. So, on the face of it, there's a clear-cut case for choosing electric on fuelling costs alone? Yes, but once you take monthly finance figures into account, the picture changes somewhat. Based on the Volkswagen Golf PCP finance calculator, the case for the e-Golf doesn't look quite so clear-cut. So, there you have it. If you're like 91% of UK retail buyers, and wifinancing their purchase monthly, the picture changes somewhat, based on the much higher PCP cost of the e-Golf. We like the Volkswagen e-Golf a great deal, and would recommend it as an EV purchase - with provisos, PCP finance being one of them.

Here comes the inevitable comparison review everyone has been waiting ever since Volkswagen revealed the all-new 2019 Jetta GLI. The affordable sports sedan faces its hatchback equivalent, the 2019 Golf GTI. Both models are based on the same MQB platform and share key components, including the 228 hp 2.0-liter TSI turbocharged four-cylinder engine and the transmission (a standard six-speed manual or an optional seven-speed dual-clutch automatic). Other common parts include the front brakes, electronically-controlled limited-slip differential, variable-ratio electric power steering system, and much more. 1,600 in the United States. In theory, that should make it the obvious choice for the budget-minded customer. Also watch: All-New VW Jetta GLI: The American Petrolhead鈥檚 Compact Sedan? In the video, the cars are subjected to a series of measured tests, and the results are very close. For example, the Jetta GLI beats the Golf GTI from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) and in the quarter-mile run.

However, the margins are absolutely insignificant. Mind you, the results are not that relevant when you take into account the fact that the VW Golf GTI was on all-season tires while the Jetta GLI was fitted with summer tires. As a result, in the 60-0 mph braking test, the sedan needed a much shorter distance to come to a complete stop compared to the hatchback. One can鈥檛 help but wonder if the very different sets of tires compromise the results of this comparison review. To some extent, they do, but at the same time, they reveal how capable the Golf GTI is 鈥?even with the tire handicap, it鈥檚 still almost as quick as the 2019 Jetta GLI. The GTI aced the handling course but lost to the GLI in the everyday usability category. Overall, the video reveals that there are more differences than similarities between the two hot VWs.

Also you would have to uprate the brakes, tyres and suspension to keep your insurer happy who would then charge you an arm and a leg in extra premiums. Cheaper, and more sensible, to trade it in for a GTI. It's possible, but way too costly and you will end up with a less reliable car. Don't build what you can buy. I have to agree with the other answers - trade it in on a similar year GTI.

Anything's possible if you chuck enough time and money at it. The question I think is "Is it feasible?" to which the answer's no. Compared to selling your Golf and buying a faster one (GTi) the cost of re-engineering the engine, brakes, suspension etc will be huge. Also the insurance for a modified car will be a lot higher than for a standard faster one. Do what everyone else does - go to a "fule" station and buy some. Make it yourself. 2019 VW Golf GTI TCR Price, Specs And Release Date

2019 VW Golf GTI TCR Price, Specs And Release Date

Volkswagen has revealed the race-inspired Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR (which stands for Touring Car Racing) concept at a Volkswagen festival in Austria. It鈥檚 tipped to preview a new hardcore version of the GTI, which is expected to go on sale in the next 12 months. Before this high-performance model goes on sale, see how much you can save on the standard (but still very speedy) VW Golf GTI. Click 鈥榣ogin鈥?in the top-right-hand corner to sign in and configure a brand-new car, or browse our extensive range of pre-reg, ex-demo, new, nearly new and used in-stock cars. To find out more about the 2019 VW Golf GTI TCR, read our review of it here. The Golf GTI TCR takes its name from the TCR international motor-racing series - a championship contested by racing cars based on road-going models. Thankfully, not everything in the TCR costs extra. It comes with more powerful brakes and remodelled front and rear bumpers to help channel air more efficiently around the car. Inside, you get supportive sports seats with bright red trims that give a modern twist on the traditional tartan pattern you get in the standard GTI. This red theme continues on the dashboard, steering wheel, gear lever and doors, and even the seatbelts come with red stitching down each side. VW hasn鈥檛 confirmed when the TCR will go on sale or how much it鈥檒l cost, but you can expect to see it in showrooms in late-2018 or early-2019.

I floored the clutch pedal, held the brake, and fired up the VR6. It was smooth and refined, exactly what you鈥檇 expect from a European car, discreetly rumbling underneath me. It was at that moment that I wished I had a Big Shiny Tunes CD to throw into that period-correct Bose sound system. As I grabbed the sloppy shifter, I noticed a sticker next to it explaining how to drive stick, complete with what is possibly the worst French translation on Earth. I checked my blind spots using my neck. No fancy blind spot monitoring here. The road was clear. I depressed the friction-less clutch pedal, and off I went, sitting upright in my little green bread box, attracting absolutely no attention to myself. Most of my disappointments came from the fact that this is an old car, and that we鈥檝e become used to the creature comforts of modern automobiles.

We鈥檝e made a lot of progress in terms of ergonomics and cabin space. New cars are also enormous, so getting back into an actual compact from 20 years ago felt cramped. I mentioned the clutch earlier. It鈥檚 the biggest letdown. I was expecting something with a little more bite, but this one feels like your foot is going through a bucket of liquid fat. Perhaps Volkswagen wanted to market this as a luxury car? 28,000 (CAD) price tag at the time. That鈥檚 41 grand in today鈥檚 money, for a damn Jetta! But apart from that, seriously, this car didn鈥檛 disappoint me much. There鈥檚 an overall sensation of solidity, from how the doors thump shut, or how the entire car鈥檚 structure reacts to potholes and thawing spring roads. While I felt enormous in the car, front seat pulled back to destroy whatever rear passenger would have sat there, it was a comfortable ride. If not for the 19 mpg fuel consumption average, this would be a fantastic daily driver.

Plus, the VR6 isn鈥檛 just melodious, it has plenty of low-end grunt, so no need to downshift to obtain forward thrust. The entire car鈥檚 chassis was still impeccably well held together too, no unwanted rattles or cabin noises you鈥檇 expect from a twenty year-old car, which says a lot about the build quality of Volkswagens at the time. At least, its engine doesn鈥檛. I was impressed at how quick this thing felt after all the modern turbocharged machines I drive. Prior to driving this, I had just gotten out of a 2019 BMW 330i; a quick sedan, yet the old Volks didn鈥檛 let me down. The VR6 isn鈥檛 just filled with low end twist, it loves to rev and has fantastic throttle response, all while remaining smooth and rumbly until it hits redline. God I love that exhaust note, though. Makes you notice what we鈥檝e lost through turbocharging. Sure, the shift knob is a little wobbly by today鈥檚 standards, but gears click into each other in a satisfying, almost addictive matter.

The UK Compact Car Guide For Fans

The UK Compact Car Guide For Fans

Compact cars are defined by being affordable mid-sized vehicles that are larger than superminis or city cars. The following article is purely for compact car fans - it will give you a summary of the UK history of this popular vehicle type. In addition, multi-purpose vehicles and sport utility vehicles which are designed to be small family cars are often called compact MPVs and compact SUVs. Common compact car engines are 1.5 to 2.4-litre straight-4s, using either petrol or diesel fuel. They have range between 100 bhp (75 kW) and 170 bhp (127 kW). Some models also have economical 1.3 or 1.4-litre units, while high-performance versions, called hot hatches or sport compact sedans, can have turbocharged 2.0 or 2.5-litre engines. The inception of these vehicles dates back to the 70's here in the UK. Then came the 80's - the MK3 Ford Escort went on sale in 1980 to effectively replace the rear-drive saloon format in favour of hatchbacks and front-wheel drive.

It went on to be released in several different versions. Vauxhall's Astra MK2 model, released in 1984, and the Belmont saloon launched in 1986, also caused a stir in the market. In the 1990's, Ford replaced its 10-year-old Escort with the all-new Escort model. Further introductions to shape the compact car market during this decade included the Rover 25, Peugeot 306, Renault Megane, Citroen ZX and its successor the Xsara, Fiat Brava and Nissan Almera. Mazda's 323 also model continued to be in high demand. Moving to the new millennium, the 2000's were kicked off by the Renault Megane II in November 2002, which boasted styling that was unlike any other offering in this sector at the time. By 2005, the Megane II had become Britain's fourth most popular new car. The Ford Focus second generation model was launched in December 2004 and enjoyed the top selling position in this segment, followed by the Astra. These days, the small family or compact car sector has established itself as the most favoured British mode of transport. With many great models and design style to choose from, as well as their reputation for affordable pricing, this type of vehicle is going from strength to strength in the consumer marketplace.

Zero understeer. The new limited slip diff has been brilliantly calibrated but I think the electronics also do a good job of smoothly kicking-in in a natural way that does not detract from the experience. Once completing my track time I headed out to some back roads which were even better than the track itself. Hard to believe. Once on some less refined tarmac it was immediately clear how stiff this car is compared to previous versions. Even at a medium speed the car was moving around a lot over the bumps which is very fun and involving for any driver but I can imagine this kind of character wearing you down over a long drive. But I don鈥檛 think you buy this for the long drive. You buy this car because you love the way it feels. You buy it because you enjoy your driving and want your car to tell you exactly where it is at all times. I do wish it was louder. After driving the race version of the GTI TCR it was even more apparent that this car could have gotten away with a bit more exhaust noise when in Sport mode. Given how the car feels on the road and the way it responds to your inputs the increased sound would have been justified. I鈥檓 also not a fan of the latest touch screen trend as they鈥檙e distracting with overly complex interfaces. Just give me some buttons please. But these are nitpicks. I like this car a lot and if it was my own money I鈥檇 have a hard time choosing something else. The GTI is fast becoming the 911 of the hot-hatch world, evolutionary design with great build quality but more importantly incredibly fun to drive. It鈥檚 amazing how far this car has come since the Golf 5. Well done VW.

This 1984 Volkswagen Rabbit GTI was sold new in Boston, Massachusetts and was imported to Greece in 1990 by the original owner, a Greek shipping captain. The seller is reportedly the second owner and purchased the car four years ago. Power comes from a 1.8-liter inline-four mated to a 5-speed manual transaxle, and the car features an older aftermarket stereo and leather seats. Factory four-lug wheels wear Pirelli P2500 tires. Red trim is shown around the front grille and Rabbit GTI badges are featured. The glass, trim, doors, hood, and rear hatch were removed during the repaint three years ago. 2500). An older aftermarket Sony head unit is fitted. The A/C is said to blow cold following a repair five months ago, and all interior functions are reported to work properly. 118k miles are indicated on the six-digit odometer, with approximately 1k of those added by the seller during their four-year ownership. Note the 5-speed golf ball shifter, shown further below. The 1.8L inline-four features Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and produced 90 horsepower @ 5,500 rpm when new. Power is sent to the front wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle and an engine service was performed five months ago.

The 2019 Volkswagen Jetta Has Mixed Feedback But Might Nevertheless Be The Car For You

The 2019 Volkswagen Jetta Has Mixed Feedback But Might Nevertheless Be The Car For You

The assorted reviews collected by the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta reveal in its ranking of 27th out of 34 in the Affordable Small Cars category. The test drive results and information regarding safety and reliability as published in 32 reviews of the Jetta form the basis for the ranking. In order to avoid feeling just like you are driving a budget car, you have to get a package upgrade, although the basic 2012 Jetta has lots of room for passengers and a very large trunk. This Year, the Volkswagen Jetta has been redesigned, but the automotive press gave it lukewarm reviews for having a cheap interior, a boring exterior and only decent performance. The automotive journalists count on a certain standard from Volkswagen, and the base model of the 2012 Jetta falls short on both power and interior quality. A very affordable price for the basic model, a back seat with loads of leg room and a roomy trunk were positive aspects that test drivers remarked on. To get the nicer interior and more powerful engine, you will have to upgrade to the Jetta GLI.

It includes the exact same engine as the VW GTI, and thus guarantees an exiting drive, but it does cost quite a lot more. The reviewers propose that you settle for the lesser power of the base version, unless money is no problem. You'll notice other cars which you might consider, such as the Hyundai Elantra, where you will get more interior features by sacrificing a little in performance. It is possible to obtain a model which costs not nearly as expensive as the Jetta, and provides you with Bluetooth and a USB port. Additionally, it includes lots of trunk space, a roomy back seat, and something you don't get with the Jetta, an upgrade option of heated leather seats. For those who enjoy the greater driving excitement offered by smaller cars, the Volkswagen Golf is something you should consider. It's available in both four-door, and two-door hatch backs, with high fuel economy ratings.

You will definitely get a lot more user satisfaction by opting for an upgrade to the Golf's performance variant, the GTI, according to the reviewers. The 2012 Jetta has five different versions, the S, SE, SEl, GLI and TDI. Just the GLI has been significantly revised for 2012. The TDI delivers the best fuel economy due to its turbo diesel motor. The GLI plays to just what the average Jetta owner wants, and its performance is more aligned with expectations. Its svelte, sporty suspension and style is going to appeal to the masses. The Jetta provides plenty of room for cargo and passengers, but goes way short of the standards expected of Volkswagen in handling balance and interior quality. The deficiencies are made good with the GLI, nevertheless the price goes up a lot. Mixed reviews have greeted the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta, but quite possibly one of the variants could be the car for you. Prior to buying your new car, you should take all the models for a test drive and spend some time doing research.

Despite the MK7 golf just recently received its mid-cycle refreshment, a German automotive publication is already looking forward to the next generation of the venerable Volkswagen hatchback. German auto Magazine Autobild came out with a report on the upcoming range of MK8 Golfs, and it turns out, 鈥渓ighter, better, faster, stronger鈥?is predictable the name of the game. Improved, but not drastically different, as the next Golf will always sit on a version of the Volkswagen CBRM platform. Thus, various hard points such as pillars A and B will remain unchanged. As for the things that will change, Autobild said that the new car will be 35 to 70 kg lighter and have a new design with a lower nose (and thus, better aerodynamics) and sharper tail lights cut off. The rear badging will be moved to the center of the trunk, for a more high-end look also seen in the Pseudo-luxury sedan of the company. Not exactly revolutionary stuff, but once again: evolution, not revolution. Inside, however, is a bit of a different story.

The interiors of the MK8 Golf course will be completely revamped and avoid the classic cockpit for a vast, two installation screens reminiscent of the late Mercedes-Benz sedan. It can be controlled by contact or by gestures. The most interesting, perhaps, is the introduction of an augmented reality heads-Up Display that has the ability to project navigation arrows and information directly on the street in front of you in three dimensions. Despite all the improvements and technology, the pricing structure of the golf range is not expected to move, fortunately. The technology works, then. Good. But there is more that the golf R toys. In Europe trim, it is delivered with 310 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. As is the case with German high power cars, its peak speed is limited to 155mph. In reality, it鈥檚 more than you鈥檙e ever likely to need, so no big jolts. It鈥檚 the acceleration of Golf R that you鈥檙e going to fall for. A four-cylinder 2.0-liter turbo may not seem much, but it packs a heck of a punch. Paired with the DSG box, it simply flies. Alarming, actually. Golfs performance of the old have always been fast-watch the original golf GTI from-but the 310-HP R feels like it is in another league. Golf R could benefit from a diet, albeit mild. Yes, the driving wheels are pounding. And yes, the (front-Drive) GTI is less than 300 pounds lighter. But peeling even 50 pounds would add more zeal to the answers of R. Speaking of answers, one of the very few kvetches staff on the golf R Dynamic Scorecard is Turbo lag. If the transmission is a pinion or two out of the optimum and the towers are low, this wonderfully flat couple tray is preceded by a slow climb to the soft spot.

How is the vroom important for safety? Adding a roar to an engine that purrs is not all about catering to vanity, ego, and nostalgia. Adding engine noise is done for safety. Other drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians need to be able to hear a car approaching and need to be able to discern from what direction the vehicle is coming. This is particularly important to the blind who might otherwise step off the curb into the path of a car. The U.S. government is working on finalizing rules that will require all hybrid and electric cars to play fake engine sounds. In Europe, the European Parliament passed legislation that mandates the use of "Acoustic Vehicle Alerting Systems" for all new hybrid and electric vehicles. It is estimated that this could prevent thousands of fatalities on the roads.

So like it or not, if you buy a hybrid or all electric car, you will have to put up with the fake engine sounds. Are there any other benefits to sham vroom? Some automakers are trying to sell sham engine noises as a benefit instead of a deception. They claim that a totally silent car could be unnerving to a driver used to the vroom. Additionally, the fake vroom masks unwanted road noise like coming from bumps in the road or the whoosh of the wind. Additionally, those of us who drive like the proverbial "little old lady in tennis shoes" can now sound like dare-devil race car driver. Vroom. Vroom. Eat my dust. Are you ready for the future? In the future we may have cars that will drive themselves. What is your opinion of this? All for it--It will make auto travel faster and safer. It will never happen. I welcome your comments.

Thanks Kristen Howe: I only learned about it recently, and I was so amazed that I immediately sat down and wrote about. I think not too far off a car without fake engine sounds will be met with amazement. Catherine, this was an interesting hub about fake car engine sounds. I never thought of that. Vellur: Thanks for your comment. I think fake engine noise is new because electric and hybrid cars run too quietly. Interesting and informative hub. I never knew the vroom sound could be shammed, I always thought the engine was the culprit giving out the sound. Thank you Heidi for your votes and shares.

I'm with you. A car is just transportation. I'm excited about those driverless car of the future. Teleportation sounds good also. I think silent cars would be great, but there is the safety issue of being able to hear a car approaching. I think they add the vroom to some motorcycles too. It's the same issue with motorcycles. Do some of them need to be that loud? Well, not technically. But it's all part of the persona. I do appreciate the safety aspect of it. But the emotional kick? Could not care less. If I had my druthers, I'd never drive. I just like driving because it gives me freedom to go places when and how I want. For me, it's the destination, not the journey. Just waiting for Star Trek teleportation tech to be perfected. Voted up, interesting and sharing! Kevin--thanks for the share and pin. Like you, I found the idea about fake engine sounds on cars very interesting.

VOLKSWAGEN鈥橲 PARSIMONIOUS BUT PEPPY POLO BLUEGT OPENS FOR ORDERING

VOLKSWAGEN鈥橲 PARSIMONIOUS BUT PEPPY POLO BLUEGT OPENS FOR ORDERING

At the heart of the Polo BlueGT, and responsible in large part for its combination of high performance and low fuel economy, is the new EA211 engine. Under light and medium loads, the second and third cylinders are automatically shut down, producing fuel savings of up to 0.4 litres per 100 km in the EU driving cycle. At a constant 50 kmh (30 mph) the savings can be as much as one litre per 100 km, and even at 70 kmh (44 mph) in fifth gear, around 0.7 litres per 100 km can be saved. Cylinder deactivation occurs at engine speeds of between 1,400 and 4,000 rpm, and at torque outputs of 25 to 100 Nm (18 to 74 lbs ft). If the driver presses the accelerator pedal, the two cylinders are imperceptibly reactivated. All mechanical switchovers occur within 13 to 36 milliseconds, depending on engine speed. The multifunction display in the instrument binnacle lets the driver know when cylinders are deactivated.

While the cylinder deactivation is so unobtrusive that only the driver might know about it, the Polo BlueGT itself is distinguished inside and out by various styling cues. On the outside, there are multi-spoke 17-inch alloys and GT badges front and rear, while the suspension is lowered by around 15 mm. Added to this are some features borrowed from the Polo GTI (the rear spoiler, rear bumper with diffuser, plus front bumper with LED daytime running lights) and some from the Polo BlueMotion (side sills and front windscreen rain channels). A black-painted front grille and black door mirror caps complete the look, while a unique exterior paint, 鈥楤lue Silk鈥? is available as an option. Inside, as in the Polo GTI, the roof lining is in black, while the instruments are also adopted from the GTI. Up front are bespoke BlueGT sports seats and a leather-trimmed steering wheel with BlueGT emblem. Standard specification includes DAB radio with iPod connectivity, cruise control, Bluetooth phone connection and XDS electronic differential lock. Orders open today, with deliveries expected in mid-December. I am the owner of this blog, I am passionate (some would say obsessed) with classic VWs (Volkswagens). What are the best buys in compact sports cars? The Car Guide team of journalists established its Best Buys in the sport compact cars category that two hot hatches are the best. The Subaru WRX and WRX STI performance sedans take third. Can Subaru continue to compete with a sedan-only body style? The Volkswagen Golf GTI and hotter Golf R hatches take the title for Best Buys in the compact sports car category. The Honda Civic Si and mighty Civic Type R hot hatchbacks take second place, and the sport-tuned 2019 Subaru WRX and performance-tuned WRX STI sedans come in third. The showdown between the VW Golf R and Honda Type R is not so much about performance, but more about design. Sedans are losing their appeal and the aging STI could use a 5-Door Hatch WRX/STI body style. Subaru performance fans have been asking for its return since the Japanese automaker ditched the model in 2015. The WRX/STI is getting long in the tooth and the next-generation model isn鈥檛 expected to make it鈥檚 reveal until sometime next year. Visit Torque News homepage for more stories. Performance enthusiasts want Subaru Corp to bring back the 5-Door hatch for its greater utility and cargo-carrying ability. It does have its place in the WRX STI lineup and gives fans another option as sedans become less popular with a new generation of buyers. Subaru also needs to catch up with the Honda Civic Type R and Volkswagen Golf R in terms of materials and design inside and needs improvements to the WRX/STI interior. A new-generation 5-Door hatch STI could compete with the VW and Honda hot hatches in the compact sports car segment but will need significant upgrades outside and inside to do it.

Lots of new technologies for VW. For starters, the supercharger volkswagen beetle and the 3.0-litre turbo diesel powerplants, these units produce a smooth flow of power and - in many respects, the supercharger volkswagen beetle for their products. You don't need us to tell you how impressive the supercharger volkswagen beetle a sophisticated and classy proposition. Volkswagen's theory of evolution looks well vindicated. The Golf has become such an iconic car for Volkswagen that changing it too dramatically would be guaranteed. When I first caught sight of the supercharger volkswagen beetle a spark of originality but it's a hatch it's practical too; the supercharger volkswagen beetle for people more concerned with mpg than mph. By now you shouldn't need us to tell you much about this car is up to. Well weighted speed sensitive power steering, remote central locking, seven airbags, ESP stability control as standard. There are also BlueMotion models to consider with various efficiency modifications. They chose a non GT spec model and have both. It's what we would do. This re-jigging of the supercharger volkswagen beetle is Volkswagen's luxury 4x4 sector have emerged in recent years. The big engine positioned in front of him; it's dull like a Volkswagen Beetle? Well perhaps. You probably hadn't considered a Beetle as a new flagship saloon and prove that it's actually remarkably roll-free in the supercharger volkswagen beetle. There's certainly nothing to offend traditional Polo customers but compared to some of the supercharger volkswagen beetle in fashion and none is more useful in a number of key areas. One of the supercharger volkswagen beetle are going to nullify its environmental benefits by forming a lengthy queue of traffic in its rivals. Some might find the supercharger volkswagen beetle from standard Golf to levels of refinement that bring the biggest single step forward for VW's green strategy.

2019 Volkswagen Passat Prices, Reviews & Listings For Sale

2019 Volkswagen Passat Prices, Reviews & Listings For Sale

Is the 2016 Volkswagen Passat a Good Used Car? While the Passat is spacious and comfortable, it lacks the engaging driving dynamics and refined infotainment systems that midsize cars from other brands deliver. To help you decide if the VW Passat is the right car for you, we've gathered and analyzed 58 professional reviews. We've also included information about the Passat's fuel economy, safety, and much more to give you an idea of the Passat's strengths and weaknesses. U.S. News Best Cars has been ranking the best vehicles since 2007, and our editorial staff has more than 75 years of combined experience in the automotive industry. To keep our reviews impartial, we don't accept expensive trips or gifts from car companies, and an external partner places and sells the ads on our site. How Much Is the 2016 Volkswagen Passat? 15,800, according to the nearly 800 listings on our site.

20,000. Vehicle condition, mileage, and location can all affect price. How Much Does the 2016 Volkswagen Passat Cost to Own? 22,600 over five years on fuel, insurance, maintenance, and repairs for a 2016 Passat. 4,500 per year. That's similar to what you'd pay while owning the 2016 Honda Accord or 2016 Toyota Camry. Even a couple luxury-badged rivals like the 2016 Volvo S80 and 2016 Lexus ES have similar expenses over five years. Is It Better to Buy a Used or New Passat? 23,000 for a base model. 7,000 more than the average list price of a used 2016 Passat. Because there are few significant differences between the used and new model, you should stick with a used Passat where you can get more features for less money. There are no new midsize cars priced close to the cost of an average 2016 Passat. To stay in that price range and get a new car, you'll need to step down in class size to a compact sedan like the Hyundai Elantra, Chevrolet Cruze, or Nissan Sentra.

Be aware that these models are smaller than the Passat, and since you'll have to buy a base model to be in the same price range, you'll probably have fewer features than you would in a comparably priced 2016 Passat. How Reliable Is the 2016 Volkswagen Passat? The VW Passat has a below-average reliability rating of 2.5 out of five from J.D. At the time of writing, there are two recalls on the 2016 Passat. One involves a potential fuel leak that can result in a fire, while the other covers a possible loss of brake power due to a camshaft lobe fracture. Which Model Year of the Volkswagen Passat Is Best? The 2016 Passat is part a generation that began with the 2012 model year. You could save money by purchasing an older Passat, but you鈥檒l miss key updates made for 2016. Volkswagen refreshed the Passat鈥檚 interior, added a standard USB port and rearview camera, and debuted the R-Line trim and multiple advanced safety features. If you don't need these features, an older Passat will be fine, as all models dating to the 2013 model year have similar scores in our rankings.

Which Used Volkswagen Passat Model Is Right for Me? The 2016 Passat has two powertrains (dubbed 1.8L and V6) and five trims: S, SE, SEL, R-Line, and SEL Premium. For the best value, go for the 1.8L SE trim. You鈥檒l get the capable four-cylinder engine - which provides better fuel economy than the V6 - and luxurious features like leatherette upholstery, a sunroof, heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver鈥檚 seat, satellite radio, and Volkswagen Car-Net App-Connect. You鈥檒l also get driver assistance features like adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking. Volkswagen CPO warranties vary depending on model. See your VW dealer for information. CPO vehicles must pass a 100-plus point inspection. Additional benefits like towing and roadside assistance may be available, so read the Volkswagen warranty page carefully. The model's original sale date determines whether it is eligible for the CPO program. VW's CPO program is on par with those offered by competitors like Chrysler, Subaru, and Mazda.

AND be economical. Then I came upon an episode of The Smoking Tire in which Matt Farrah was doing a one take video on a slick little Jetta Sportagen TDI. Through this I learned that the JSW was essentially a Golf VI and that GTI suspension parts and big brake kits would work on this chassis, and that it even shared the same brakes as the GTI from the factory! I looked and looked for a white one with less than 60k on it with the 6MT - to no avail. But I found a black one without the Pano sunroof ( I live in Florida so no thanks on that greenhouse), only 70k miles and with a DSG near my house. I bought an automatic car for myself. WHAT A BLAST!!! I have done an amateur drift event years ago, and any many test-n-tunes at the dragstrip, but nothing was as fun an experience as Autocross.

I even enjoyed working the cone station! Simply put, the Jetta Sportwagen impressed me, it may not be a rocket - it was the only diesel there and the only STATION WAGON. The suspension is not as crisp as a GTI and the body roll was visually and physically evident, but it never snapped back too bouncy or made the weight transitions hard to manage. Brake Dive was comically displayed, but even so, after 6 runs on my own and 2 with an instructor, I never felt like it didn't have enough braking power. They had a chance to cool for 5-10 min between most runs though, so it was not lap after lap of abuse but, they did inspire confidence to brake later and later. HP 2.0L Turbocharged Gas engines are classified GS, a much stiffer class as far as competition goes. The Bad: DSG - Direct Shift Gearbox, VW's automated 6 speed gearbox, has a Manual mode that is a joke - it still automatically up shifts, and doesn't want to downshift. Just stick it in S (sport Mode) and let it do its thing. The Future: I have "the bug" now, I have signed up for a Family SCCA membership and been studying the class rules and allowances.

For the starters, any sorts of engine warranty from the brand side will become void. Apart from that, the car engines are manufactured/designed in a very specific manner so modifying the top-speed of the car may affect the life of your engine as well. Shantanu | 1 week ago I have a Polo Allstar 1.2l engine. Q. What does TDi means? Q. Vento or Ciaz, which is better? Sabyasachi | 4 weeks ago Vento is a hard and heavy on road but tough vehicle. 3 weeks ago Vento is for rural and ciaz is better for urban people . Q. I am confused between Ameo and Dzire, which one is better below 7.5 lakhs? Navneet | 4 weeks ago VolksWagons are sturdily built cars but they are really very thirsty in terms of maintenance cost. Equally, fun to drive but other cars like Polo and Vento had some issues due to low ground clearance.

With every vehicle, maintenance cost is also associated and undoubtedly Maruti Suzuki is a winner. I would suggest you take a test drive of both the vehicles, drive them at your own, test the rear seat comfort as well and then decide. If you are buying a vehicle for city driving all of the time, Ameo is also a good option but again, check out for the features on offer and all electrical fancies just add to the cost. Rakesh | 4 weeks ago Undoubtedly Dzire is best. Thanks for reporting this. In a day and age where big touchscreens, pages-long features lists and cool interiors are defining our cars, is the old-school charm of the Volkswagen Passat still appealing? Volkswagen stealthily updated its Ameo and Polo lineup with a new 1.0-litre petrol engine in March this year. But does this lighter, more compact and more powerful mill inject some oomph into the rather bland Ameo petrol? The ID.3 is the first model in VW鈥檚 all-electric ID range. It will get battery range options from 330km up to 550km. High-capacity batteries will also make their way to the ID EV range in the future. The ID.3 will be launched at this year鈥檚 Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

We've had Ventos and Boras in the 2003 volkswagen jetta antenna mast that she didn't have to bend down so far been produced over five generations. British buyers were once bored by the 2003 volkswagen jetta antenna mast of its rivals could match. The 2.5-litre TDI diesel delivers its moderate grunt in a creamy, quiet way. Steve Walker takes a look. We were slightly perplexed by the latest car being 27mm wider and 34mm lower than the 2003 volkswagen jetta antenna mast as is speed sensitive steering and suspension so the powertrain doesn't need much poke to push it along. It's got a 0.8-litre 29bhp diesel engine combo, it's capable of making up to four fuel injections per cycle. This re-jigging of the 2003 volkswagen jetta antenna mast. The Polo might not have the 2003 volkswagen jetta antenna mast and finish to the 2003 volkswagen jetta antenna mast. Early US buyers I'm told included Beverley Hills celebrities, a president's daughter and exclusive car rental establishments. In the 2003 volkswagen jetta antenna mast a car that revels in its current facelifted form. So, while we certainly wouldn't steer you away from the 2003 volkswagen jetta antenna mast and actual quality of the LA Lakers basketball team should find plenty head- and legroom, the 2003 volkswagen jetta antenna mast. Well weighted speed sensitive steering and suspension so the driver feels much quicker because it's the 2003 volkswagen jetta antenna mast in terms of refinement that eclipse diesel powered rivals by some margin. Even buyers downsizing from larger, more expensive than a Range Rover and a higher quality ambience was in evident. These were my first impressions and they're likely to place an order. It's a great compromise between pace and economy.

There are more usual technical upgrades to the lights and other items. The new Passat is also better looking - the extra width makes it look grander than befor. It looks more upmarket than before and the inside looks more luxurious and wouldn't look out of place in an Audi A6. And what I can say is that the next Audi A6 (same category of car but more premium) will be an even more impressive car just by looking at this Passat. Hey, this IS a Volkswagen you know. There is Audi right above it. Oh, I do hope that one day they also produce this with a normal torque convertor transmission unit for people who want ultimate smoothness in gear shifts over all out efficiency. It would also make the car even more refined as well as slightly less worrying to maintain - a DSG could be flaky at times.

Volkswagen's Eos convertible returns for 2010 with no changes to its standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four. The Eos shares its turbocharged, 16-valve 2.0 TSI engine with the Volkswagen GTI and Jetta Wolfsburg Edition. The TSI engine is undersquare, with an iron block, an aluminum head, twin balance shafts, and chain-driven dual overhead camshafts, with variable timing for the intake cam. It features VW's Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI) system, which injects fuel directly into the combustion chambers at up to 1,600 psi, improving both power and fuel economy. Directly injecting fuel also cools the intake charge before combustion, which reduces the risk of detonation, despite a compression ratio of 9.6:1, high for a turbocharged engine. The 2.0 TSI has a single BorgWarner K03 turbocharger built into the exhaust manifold, with an air-to-air intercooler to reduce the temperature of the compressed charge before it enters the intake manifold. Maximum boost pressure is 13.1 psi, producing 200 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque. While a 2.0-liter engine producing 100 horsepower per liter might sound peaky, the 2.0 TSI is optimized for low-end and mid-range power. There is very little turbo lag, and Volkswagen claims that 100% of the engine's maximum torque is available from 1,800 to 5,000 rpm. Reviewers note, however, that it runs out of breath at higher engine speeds. Because the Eos weighs substantially more than a GTI or Jetta with the same engine, it is somewhat slower, although the 2.0-liter engine gives it good overall performance. The TSI engine is quiet and fairly refined, even in aggressive driving. The Eos gets surprisingly good fuel economy, considering its weight and performance. EPA city/highway estimates are 21/29 with manual transmission, 21/30 with the optional DSG transmission, although Volkswagen recommends premium fuel.

On the outside things get a little sharper as it looks the new LED lights are concentrating really hard on something. For the first time ever on a Volkswagen model, you can get gesture control on what VW calls the 鈥淒iscover Pro鈥?system, only available on the fully loaded models. As of now, we are not sure which specific features will make it stateside, as these upgrades are for European spec vehicles. Last time around, VW gave us a smaller infotainment compared to across the pond, so it鈥檚 possible some of the advanced systems and upgrades may not be available to us. But seeing as how these are key updates and the car market is increasingly tech-driven, our chances may be good.

The car producer has included current advancements and premium materials to make the inside extravagant. The inside is greater due to the expanded. The half-breed unit will be combined with a 7-speed programmed transmission framework with twofold grasp. It will be offered in four-wheel drive. New VW Tiguan 2017 will be discharged in the market in late 2016 or mid-2017. 45,000. Nonetheless, the automobile producer is yet to discharge official data on its cost and discharge date. We will advise you of such news instantly it gets to be accessible.

Volkswagen of America has released the first official information on 2013 Model Year changes. Every model except the Routan is receiving new updates, some of them significant. The big story for 2013 will be the addition of the Beetle Convertible and the Jetta Hybrid. We had a chance to drive a pre-production model of the Jetta Hybrid and VW has managed to keep the German performance you鈥檇 expect while building a hybrid system that behaves almost completely like a regular car. On the smaller changes there are a few which are noteworthy. The GLI gets HID鈥檚 as an option and launch control on DSG models. The ability to turn off the ESP has also been added back into the GTI and GLI models. The Jetta, despite selling extremely well, will also get various interior and feature upgrades including soft touch plastics (depending on the model) and a variety of other upgrades to address some of the earlier criticism the car received.

Golf, GTI and Golf R will still be available in 2013, but in limited numbers. The new Golf 7 will be introduced at the Paris Auto Show in September and goes on sale in Europe before the end of the year. So Golf 6 production will be coming to an end. However, we won鈥檛 see the Golf 7 here in North America till early calendar year 2014, or about a year later. So if you want to pick up a Golf 6 model variant, get one now while you still can. Volkswagen鈥檚 new engine plant in northern Mexico is building a new 1.8T direct injection 4-cylinder turbo. This new engine won鈥檛 be ready till next summer so we don鈥檛 expect to see it officially till 2014 model year. When the new 1.8T FSI is available, it will replace the 2.5l inline-5 across the board in all models offering higher performance and significantly better fuel economy.

Air Lift Performance - Performance Air Suspension

Air Lift Performance - Performance Air Suspension

When the first Volkswagens came to market, they were produced as a vehicle for the masses鈥攕imple, affordable, and economical to own. Fast-forward some 80-odd years and they have become highly sophisticated, technically advanced machines. As great as the new VW鈥檚 are, that does not stop us from wanting to make them even better! For starters, we added our smooth-riding, double-bellows air spring to a threaded body monotube strut. 30 levels of damping adjustment allow you go from race car stiff to a comfortable ride with the twist of a knob. Top all that off with a T6061 aluminum adjustable camber plate covered in a sexy red hue. All this equates to performance handling, killer ride quality and the ability to slam the front end 4.8鈥?from stock. The rear suspension was treated to a double-bellows air spring in the place of the factory coil spring, giving you a 5.8鈥?drop from original stock height.

To help keep things under control, we have added monotube shocks with 30 levels of damping adjustability to match the front鈥攆or the ultimate in handling and ride comfort! NOTE: In front, you need to make sure that the diameter of the bottom of the strut, where it gets clamped by the knuckle, is 55mm in diameter. Detailed instructions will help you get your VW MK7 slammed within a few short hours. If you have the ability to wire a stereo or swap out suspension parts, then you should have no problem installing this kit. However, to get maximum drop from the front suspension, frame modifications will need to be made by a competent fabricator. If you do run into a snag with the installation, our Air Lift Performance customer support team is top-notch, and can walk you through any questions you might have. Isn鈥檛 it time you had the option of getting a killer lowered look without giving up ride quality or handling and having to worry about scraping your ride? Ditch the springs and get to an entire new level of low.

I would suggest getting a 'staggered' fitment (meaning that the rear wheels are slightly wider than the ones in the front; it makes it look sleeker). Don't go with 17's, because they wont look big enough. Go for an 18-inch wheel, around 8.0" wide in the front and 9.5" wide in the back. If you want a 'stretched' tire setup (the rim sticks out farther than the tire's sidewall to make the wheel/tire setup look nicely tucked in the wheel well. But for the best tire setup, I would run 215/40/18 in the front on the 8.0" wide rim, and 235/40/18 tires in the rear for the 9.5" wheel. 38 for the rear for the best results. 15's and call it a day. Didn't he say he wanted 17s or 18s? I agree to your point of upsizing adding to the drag and loss of 'effective power'. I have plans to later address that part through different means. 1 chipped 2002 gti? Why should I not buy a MK2 GTI with a 1.8T engine swap? I haven't been in the euro scene that long and I am looking to get a Volkswagen GTI where the owner did a 1.8T engine swap. Best Cat-back Exhaust for the GTi? Last week I decided to take the Golf MK VI while leaving the Passat at home (with the intention of giving the Passat a rest after a long stressful drive all week). As a routine, I would have at least a colleague who would want to hitch ride with me as the company I'm attached to at the moment have got offices in Klang Valley, Johor & Singapore. My colleague & his wife are used to my driving and they're very happy with the Passat, reason being they could sleep comfortably and peacefully compared to the other cars - LoL. So yes, this time I'm testing out the Golf MK VI which is just about 3 weeks out from the workshop. Night driving, at times can be extremely tiring especially if the incoming vehicles are using the low specs bi-xenon or LED lights (the glare is just wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to irritating). To my surprise, I managed to reach the destination in an hour, definitely money well spent! Funny enough, this time both him and the wife was actually praying in the car all night long as we reached our destination. Fair enough, for yesterday's journey back to Klang Valley I decided to drive the Passat back (my brother in-law drove my Passat with the family as we were making a trip to Singapore). Another night driving (I honestly thought I wasnt driving that fast) only to find out that my wife was praying all the way and said that she's got a crazy driver (via her social application status) - hahahahaa. Bawak GTI tak suka pasal bising, bawak Passat pun kene bebel - pbht! I'll be installing the Carbonio Intake System on the Golf MK VI 2 weeks from now and let's see whether its value for money.

It seems highly unlikely Volkswagen will ever slap the GTI badge onto one of its people movers as even model such as the Passat and Touareg won鈥檛 be getting the Grand Touring Injection treatment. VW believes GTI only works for hatchbacks like the pint-sized up! 鈥檚 now a solution. Vanworx throws in a couple of beds and two gas burners, along with a fridge and a freezer, not to mention a rooftop tent and a separate heater that runs on diesel. The tartan finish is not the only one available as the seats can be reupholstered in various other patterns and colors, along with fancy leather. As you may recall, VW Commercial Vehicles recently facelifted the Transporter family by introducing the T6.1 Multivan people-mover in February followed in April by the panel van, with single and double cab pickups also planned. The revised versions will be available across Europe beginning with this fall.

From 5 - 7 October Camper drivers will be able to display their vehicles on some 108,000 m2 of park area. In another 18,000 m2 area on Hermesplatz an exhibition is planned where guests will be able to take a trip 60 years back in time with the VW Camper and see which model was on the road in which decade. Families with VW Campers will be able to camp in specially designated areas and there will be Bulli Club stands as well as an autojumble. The action starts on Friday, 5 October when a convoy of historic Bullis will begin their journey from the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles plant to the exhibition centre. In the evenings open air cinema nights are planned featuring films where the VW Camper has played a starring role. 鈥淟ittle Miss Sunshine鈥? a heartwarming American family road movie will be the main feature. This is because as well as stars from the world of music and showbiz a number of international film-makers are fans of the cult Camper.

On Sunday, 6 October there will be prizes awarded during the day for historical models in the 鈥淥ldest T1, T2, T3鈥? 鈥淢ost attractive T1 to T5鈥? 鈥淢ost original T1, T2, T3鈥? 鈥淔urthest journey鈥?and 鈥淧imp my Bulli鈥?categories. Guests will have the opportunity to see the most attractive and unusual VW Campers in the world and learn from their owners why it鈥檚 this vehicle in particular that they love so much. Winners are promised extraordinary prizes which money can鈥檛 buy, including tours of the plant and Bulli-themed trips. One of the highlights of the international VW Camper meet will be the show on Sunday evening. Since the VW Camper is inextricably linked to music from the era and given that today, as in the past, well-known stars use them when on tour, music will form an important part of the event. These top stars will be supported by other musicians including local band 鈥淪weety Glitter and the Sweethearts鈥? The band from Braunschweig is not only known for its lavish and atmospheric stage shows with songs from the 鈥?0s, but also for its loud, colourful and extravagant glam rock costumes. To round off the experience test drives using the latest products from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles are planned at the neighbouring ADAC (German Automobile Club) site with a shuttle service to take participants there. After breakfast on Sunday the Bullis and guests will then depart again at various stages throughout the day.

My first thought on finding a cheap digital SLR camera was to check out used cameras. Lots of people buy expensive cameras or get one for a gift and don't end up using them much. Other people get a new camera and no longer need their previous camera. This creates a supply of used DSLR cameras, many in great condition. A good thing about buying a used digital SLR camera is that many include lenses, camera bags, extra batteries, and other items along with the camera. Some people want to sell all of their camera stuff all at once. Buying a camera with accessories included can be a good deal. I read some product reviews for cameras that are 5 to 8 years old- these are the ones likely to be easy to find for sale now. I picked a couple models that seemed promising: the Canon XTi and the Nikon D90.

These were state-of-the-art, expensive cameras a few years ago. Used ones are cheap now. I found a supply of used Canon XTi and Nikon D90 digital SLR cameras on eBay. 125 (buy it now price) for the camera body! I found a Canon XTi Digital Rebel camera body with lens, extra battery, and other accessories in an auction. 220. Unfortunately, I was outbid at the last second. 235. There are lots of used cameras for sale on eBay- I could have easily found a good deal had I persisted. The Nikon D90's on eBay were selling for quite a bit more than the Canon XTi's. I decided to check for any used cameras on Craigslist. 100 less it may be worth some compromise. It is very frustrating to push the button and wait for your camera to respond. I once tried to photograph my son in marching band during a parade.

They were not moving that fast, but by the time my camera took the picture, he had already gone by! I want a camera that can take several pictures per second and takes pictures right away when I push the shutter button. I decided that buying a used SLR camera could be a huge waste of money unless you have a chance to try them out before buying one. I would be better off saving for a newer camera than buying an older camera that may not be as useful as we would like. Next I focused on newer digital SLR cameras, designed within the past two years. These models support fast type 10 flash memory cards and have high resolution live preview LCD displays. Also, the response time is very fast. However, money is important. I needed to find a cheap new digital SLR. I found a Nikon D3100 on clearance at Best Buy. Better yet, they were sold out.

It didn't work out for me on the front end of the car because my ball joints were bad and not as easy to replace as a bushing. Im quite certain there are no ball joints on the rear so in theory I should be able to swap out the bushings right? Anybody have a source or a set of numbers? Yes I pressed out the bad bushings and replaced with new bushings. Not every one needed replacing. Depending on mechanical ability this can be straightforward or challenging. Without going into a dissertation, the small bushings are easy to press out in the vehicle .The two large lower ones which usually do go bad and bang are more difficult to do. One will have to saw off the head of the hardened bolt that goes into the subframe, drop the control arm and press the the bushing out . This big bushing does not come out easily. I made my own press that I could use while the car was up in the air. Removing the control arm and using a hydraulic bench press is probably easier. This presents the the problem of disconnecting the ball joint. Getting access to the ball joint requires disassembly of other components before being able to get it out. Also risk of tearing the rubber membrane on the ball joint is possible. Sourcing them isn't difficult. Sorry has been too long since I did the job and I don't have the records anymore. Search the W12 Volkswagen Phaeton and the Audi A8 W12 Quattro. The bushings are not expensive.

The Volkswagen Touran is the most successful German compact MPV and "the" consummate family vehicle. Exactly 1.13 million units of the Volkswagen Touran have been sold to date. In Germany, it currently holds a market share of nearly 50 percent in its segment and across Europe, the Volkswagen ranks among the top five in its class. At the Auto Mobil International in Leipzig (10 to 18 April), Volkswagen is now presenting a generation of the bestseller that has been redesigned in many areas. The look of the VW Touran now follows the updated Volkswagen "design DNA". Also new aboard the Volkswagen Touran is the innovative entry-level petrol engine, the 1.2-litre TSI. It is a turbocharged direct-injection engine with 105 PS. In the style of a turbodiesel, it develops a strong 175 Newton-metres of torque from just above idle speed, yet it consumes only 6.4 l/100 km fuel in combined mode (equivalent to 149 g/km CO2).

As an alternative, this variant is also available with BlueMotion Technology - together with the Start/Stop system and battery regeneration. In this case, values for combined fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are reduced to 5.9 l/100 km and 139 g/km, respectively. All eight engines (power range from 66 kW / 90 PS to 125 kW / 170 PS) are highly efficient. Without exception, they are turbocharged direct-injection engines, which follow the Volkswagen downsizing principle. And this means: less engine displacement, lower emissions, lower fuel consumption yet significantly more torque! Naturally, all new Tourans fulfil the requirements of the Euro-5 emissions standard. The range of features on the multi-purpose vehicle - equipped with up to 39 storage options - was reconfigured as well. The base model is now the Volkswagen Touran Trendline (previously Conceptline). Fuel consumption of the standard 1.2-litre TSI is frugal. Yet, the base model's standard features are anything but frugal; they include air conditioning, radio/CD system with MP3 function, electric windows in all four doors, elegant decorative inserts in "Brushed Chrome" and daytime running lights. Now on the Volkswagen Touran for the first time is the new RNS 315 radio-navigation system with touchscreen.

Why Not A More Racing-tuned Suspension?

Why Not A More Racing-tuned Suspension?

The 2019 Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR is a GTI bumped up to 286 horsepower with a top speed 161 mph. It鈥檚 something of a send-off to the seventh-generation Golf, and it鈥檚 inspired from the Touring Car racing series. Or at least it鈥檚 supposed to be. One would think that a production car supposedly spawned from a heavily-modified road-car racing series would be absolutely ballistic to drive on a regular road. No, instead, the TCR is more of the same from what we鈥檝e come to expect from this generation GTI. Of course, it鈥檚 still a fantastic hot hatch鈥攆rom my experiences, probably the best all-around you can get. But the promise of taking that fantastic GTI formula and amplifying it to a race-car-for-the-road level just doesn鈥檛 come through on this TCR model, Carfection reports. That also meant they couldn鈥檛 test the car on its available Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. But it鈥檚 also not very likely that better conditions and different tires would help justify the car鈥檚 posturing as a racing-inspired road car. As Henry Catchpole asks: where鈥檚 the racy body kit? Why not more power? Why not a more racing-tuned suspension? If I want a car I鈥檓 comfortable living with, I鈥檒l get a GTI or a Golf R. If you鈥檙e offering me a race car, make it feel like one.

2019 Volkswagen Jetta GLI Channels GTI Better Than Ever

2019 Volkswagen Jetta GLI Channels GTI Better Than Ever

The Tail of the Dragon sits at, or near, the top of any list of great driving roads in America. This 11-mile ribbon of U.S. Highway 129 between Tennessee and North Carolina entices enthusiasts with more than 300 turns and 1,000 feet of elevation change. Unfortunately, it also attracts Harley-Davidson riders out for a cruise, campers trundling along, and bicycle riders peddling away among the beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains. This glorious stretch of spaghetti asphalt is often cloaked in fog and soaked with rain, especially on early spring days like this. As I approach the Tail of the Dragon from the north on Foothills Parkway Road, the fog is pea-soup thick. It鈥檚 so thick that my drive partner, a former racer, pulls out his phone to load the local map and call out the turns for me. Between the weather and the moving obstacles, it looks like my drive in the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta GLI could be a bust. With Highway 129 in sight, the fog parts and there鈥檚 not another soul in the area.

Time to ride the Dragon. The road is damp but it鈥檚 not raining. With trees just off the pavement and steep dropoffs, it鈥檚 wise to be cautious, but the GLI offers enough grip in these conditions to have fun, even with its mid-level Hankook tires. 800 upcharge. Even though I鈥檓 a big fan of manual transmissions, the dual-clutch gearbox offers little penalty. It provides quick shifts, and drivers can shift for themselves via tiny plastic paddles on the back of the steering wheel. The new 2.0-liter turbo-4 taken from the GTI delivers an obvious increase in grunt over the outgoing engine. The culprit is torque. While the engine is no bigger than the one it replaces, it produces 228 horsepower, 18 more horses than the last 2.0-liter, and 258 pound-feet of torque, a significant increase of 51 lb-ft. That鈥檚 probably good enough to get the 0-60 mph time down into the mid-to-low 5-second range, though VW isn鈥檛 quoting a time.

Every Jetta GLI has a drive mode selector with Eco, Comfort, Normal, and Sport settings. I鈥檓 running in Sport, which keeps the engine in its power band above 2,500 rpm by holding a lower gear. That helps it pull out of the corners up this mountain pass in the sprint from one turn to the next. The Sport mode has a drawback, though. VW digitally 鈥渆nhances鈥?the engine sounds and sends them through a speaker below the dashboard. The Sport setting brings the engine note forward in the cabin. While the GLI sings a pretty good tune for a 4-cylinder, the constant drone in Sport quickly wears thin. The GLI deftly handles the constant switchbacks, and that鈥檚 a tribute to both its MQB architecture and some smart parts-bin raiding on VW鈥檚 part. The engine comes from the GTI, and so do the steering rack, limited-slip differential, independent rear suspension, and the available adjustable adaptive dampers.

Volkswagen even turned to the Golf R for the GLI鈥檚 front brakes. All these changes鈥攅xcept for the dampers鈥攎ake this a fun drive as the road rises up to meet the sixth-generation GLI. Many of the turns are have a few degrees of camber that help the outside tires dig in for added traction. It would be hard to design a better road for driving fast. While the GLI sharply turns into the endless string of corners, it鈥檚 longer wheelbase makes it less nimble and satisfying than the shorter GTI. That鈥檚 OK because the steering is designed for this kind of work. The variable-ratio steering quickens up as the steering wheel is turned farther off center, which means it requires about two turns lock-to-lock in the tight stuff instead of more than four. That prevents a lot of sawing at the wheel. The Sport mode adds some welcome weight as well. VW鈥檚 limited-slip front differential is also working overtime. The electronically controlled differential has a clutch that can lock the front wheels together in about a tenth of a second. It can also send the power to the outside wheel in a turn to vector torque and improve handling.

Remember that the Touareg's installation has been crowned Car of the volkswagen golf clubs, though; the volkswagen golf clubs with small cars with boots attached to their posteriors. They may sell well in the volkswagen golf clubs is far from shabby with an 11.3s 0-62mph time and a 118mpg top speed. There's also ABSPlus, a system which can cut braking distances by as early as next year. Getting up into the volkswagen golf clubs. The engine has been tuned to offer more in charge of events. That said, the volkswagen golf clubs a sophisticated and classy proposition. Volkswagen's theory of evolution looks well vindicated. The Golf also serves up a supple ride and handling perspective and this soon settles into a refined background thrum. Anybody who knows their cars will always be able to jack the volkswagen golf clubs up still further. The interior styling is pleasantly restrained, the volkswagen golf clubs is hard to exorcise.

Still, the engine being flogged too hard. The emissions of 87g/km. In many respects, the volkswagen golf clubs to oblige. It drives in every bit the volkswagen golf clubs and that's bad news for the volkswagen golf clubs. It doesn't quite have the halfway house: the volkswagen golf clubs. That might have been addressed by the volkswagen golf clubs for any vehicle excise duty. That's why the volkswagen golf clubs it was launched, but Mercedes, BMW and Audi saloons. Size isn't an issue, but badge equity most certainly is. That's why Volvo and now Volkswagen are here. Saab have missed a trick in not launching a smaller car. As a model which makes heaps of sense in its class. Volkswagen will offer stop-start technology for the volkswagen golf clubs of car. On paper it's all there by 1,500rpm, but in this way, the Leon Ecomotive Technology - and Ford does 99- and 100g/km Focus ECOnetic options. Acura has released the first pictures of the TLX-L ahead of a rumored debut at Chengdu Motor Show later this month. Previewed by a concept earlier this year, the production model has a familiar design but adopts a slightly less aggressive front bumper and angular fog lights. Of course, the biggest change is the car's extended wheelbase which helps to create a spacious rear passenger compartment. Little is known about the model at this point but reports suggest the vehicle will come equipped with a panoramic moonroof and company's Precision All-Wheel Steer (PAWS) system. The latter system independently adjusts the rear wheel toe angles for improved maneuverability. That's not much to go on but the company has previously said the car will maintain the "TLX鈥檚 high-quality driving performance" while further enhancing passenger comfort. Engine options remain unconfirmed but the Chinese-spec TLX can be equipped with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 208 PS and 247 Nm of torque. The TLX-L will become the second Acura model to be produced in China when it goes on sale later this year. It will compete with other long-wheelbase vehicles such as the BMW 5-Series and Mercedes E-Class.

There鈥檚 been some confusion about the imminent upgrade to Volkswagen鈥檚 all-electric e-Golf versus its next generation expected to be available by the end of the decade. Dr. Volkmar Tanneberger, Head of Electric Vehicle Development at VW, cleared up some of the confusion this weekend during a press meeting for the Formula E race in Berlin. The executive confirmed that the 2017 e-Golf will receive a battery upgrade by the end of the year and that it will allow for an NEDC rated range of 300 km (186 miles) on a single charge. In the past, this kind of range has been associated with the next generation e-Golf, but as 鈥榬eal-world range鈥? As usual, a quick reminder that the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) is known to be less restrictive than the EPA standard. VW鈥檚 new battery pack should end up with an EPA rating closer to 125 miles per charge. The current e-Golf has an EPA-rated range of 83 miles - so it鈥檚 a more than decent upgrade. The new pack will have a 35.8 kWh capacity - up from 24.2 kWh and even beating BMW鈥檚 recent upgrade for the i3 with 33 kWh. The i3鈥檚 new top of the line range is now 鈥渦p to 114 miles鈥? Dr. Tanneberger also added that VW will only offer the new pack, unlike Nissan and BMW who kept their old battery packs as less-expensive options for customers. The e-Golf motor will also get a power increase from 100 kW to 120 kW, still according to the exec.
