Can I put valvoline fully synthetic oil 5W30 in a volkswagen jetta 03 1.8? Castrol Syntec 5-40 would be better as it is Vw approved. I tend to stay away from Valvoline just out of personal preference. My vr6 loves Syntec 5-40, so that's what i feed it. Ignore the weird man in the viking hat. Brand preferrence is crap in here. Yes you can use valvoline Synthetic 5W-30 in your turbo. Works great and meets all VW requirements. I sell Valvoline(and use Mobil One) so even I can be brand picky. If Mobil One didn't exist I would use Valvoline. Don't worry and don't let people push you around on Brand. Yes you can. Once you use a synthetic oil in any car, you should always use synthetic oil thereafter. Don't go back to conventional oil. What type of gas does a VW Touareg use?
