What Should I Do?
My daughter lost her keys to her VW Passat. It's one of those chip keys. What should I do? I heard I can go to the Huntington VW dealership, but I didn't buy the car there and I'm reluctant to go. I also heard I can do it myself, but it seems like that might take a while. What is the best option? Has any other Passat owner lost their car keys before? Go to any VW dealer with you registration. They can make you a key on the spot. VW dealer and order a new one. You'll need the VIN off the car. Be prepared, it won't be cheap. 200. They will also need to program the transponder inside the remote once you have the new key. 300 for a remote headed key. If it's newer than that you would need to go to the dealer. Sounds like you may have a newer model, since you mentioned chip key.
It is still possible to go to a locksmith instead of the dealership, which will very likely charge you more. I have a Passat 2008 and since the dealership only gave me one key when I bought it, of course I went mad when I lost it. I found out that you don't actually need to go to the dealership and there are different places and locksmith companies that have the technology to handle transponder key programming. 2010 jetta to give it more horsepower? I have a 2010 jetta 2.5 california edition and it has about 170 horespower.. Anybody know anything about cars and can help me out? The best thing you can put in your car to make it drive better is a man at the wheel. Unfortunately, there are no cheap mods for more horsepower with the 2010 2.5L engine. Heck, no one offers a ECU program upgrade right now for the 2010 version. How about checking out a vw specific site and asking the question.
They will have many more resources that will help you. You can also check out places that specialize in VW parts. I would first look at upgrading exhaust and intake. Perhaps a chip/tuner as well. Those three things MIGHT get you to about 200HP. If you want to get a really serious power boost, you will have to look at cams, headwork, supercharger, turbo, or nitrous. All of those are pricey and require a lot of work and tuning. My 2000 VW Bug keeps dying. Something must be draining the battery when the car is off.? We turn everything off it makes no sense. Check the lead from alternator to battery. There are a few things you'd need to rule out first. When you turn off the car will it start right away? If not it might be your alternator isn't working properly.
Check if you battery is holding power, the '99-00 VW bugs have some electrical issues and you might have a false connection which drains your battery. I need to turn my VW Touran alram OFF! The alrm goes off 2 - 3 times a day and it is doing our heads in! You are going to have to get it mended. It cannot be bypassed. Read the manual - there may be a way of doing it without alarm - on some cars locking with the key and not the remote will not set the alarm. It's a common problem with MKIV VW's, however I don't know what you own. I am looking at a 5 speed karmann edition. 4,000. The car looks like new. Just wondering if anyone knew if this was a decent price and how expensive these cars are to fix or if parts were rare. A 1987 Cabriolet isn't special as a "Karmann" edition. All Cabriolets are assembled from the ground up at the "Karmann" coach works in Wolfsburg Germany. Vw parts from the dealer are expensive. At the NADA site the prices listed are: low retail 1600 average retail 2500 high retail 2900 so it is a tad over priced. As for repairs being expensive, that depends on if you have the tools time and skill, or are going to a shop to have work done. Most parts c an be bought on-line cheaper than it can at a Dealer or a Local Auto-jobber, but the key to VW's is Maintenance. You can skip or skimp on it. So if you buy a car and go through each system to bring it back to stock, then maintain it, you are in for a enjoyable purchase. If you think you can buy it and drive the heck out of it with out investing time or money, then this car isn't for you. Briano is a wealth of information and very accurate. What I really wanted to add, is there is another place that I did buy many of my parts from, their prices are reasonable and their service and knowledge are great. Not sure where you are located, but the place is in Auburn Hills Michigan, which is great for me because it's local. However they do mail order as well.
