VW sold a nice amount of New Beatles in Europe, and for a car that is basically a Golf in expensive that means profit. I bet you think the Eos was a big cash cow too? It sold OKish but was too expensive to produce. The Ford Galaxy and the VW Sharan were huge successes. But now the market has shifted away from one-box minivans. Hyundai figured it out in less time than it's taken Volkswagen. Hyundai produces cheap crap and Americans like cheap crap. Also, Americans are hardcore brand whores and wouldn’t buy the normal VWs, which are somewhere between economy and premium. And as I said, producing special cars for The US isn‘t worth it for VW. The rest of you comment sounds more like a butthurt American that is offended because a company doesn’t care about the glorious USA. And if you subtract trucks and oversized SUVs, the US car market is suddenly not as big anymore.
