Steering wheel vibrations in specified vehicle speed range. Vehicle vibrations can also be felt.

Cause:

Radial force variations and/or imbalance in the front wheels are transferred to the steering wheel/vehicle in the form of vibrations.

Note:

Tires not recommended by Mercedes-Benz can aggravate this problem.

Remedy:

The complaint must be reproduced by means of a test drive.

If it is not possible to reproduce the complaint, contact the customer. Otherwise, process the following points one after

the other.

1) Check wheels for damage and tire inflation pressure. Replace any damaged, unusable wheels. Correct the tire inflation pressure. Perform a test

drive if the deviations are greater than 0.5 bar.

2) Check radial force variation (RFV) of the front wheels on a suitable balance machine. Match mount the wheels/tires if necessary.

3) Balance wheels on wheel balancing machine.

4) Mount the wheels. Ensure that they are seated centrally and tighten the wheel studs/wheel nuts finger-tight in a crosswise pattern, then tighten to

the required tightening torque.

5) Perform test drive. If the problem is still present, continue with step 6).

6) Install the specified steering shaft and perform a test drive.

7) Check whether the specified steering gear is installed, replace if necessary.
