Here’s something you don’t see every day, and we’re not just talking about a Volkswagen Touareg with a lot of miles. A V10 turbodiesel Touareg? Yes, this was a thing Volkswagen sold from 2002 through 2010 around the world, though tough emission regulations in the United States meant it was only sold here from 2004 through 2008, and in very limited numbers. Ironically, it was replaced by a V6 TDI that would later become part of VW’s Dieselgate scandal. 65,000. So yeah, it was crazy expensive. 70,000 Volkswagen diesel SUV fare after 11 years and nearly half a million miles? Extensive maintenance would certainly explain why it looks as good as it does, but 500,000 kilometers (310,000 miles) is a surprisingly low number for a diesel engine to expire at. We can only imagine what that repair bill must’ve been. 30,000, though none of them were even remotely close to the mileage on this well-used model.
Apart from its ability to simultaneously cosset and thrill, the restored volkswagen beetle a sophisticated and classy proposition. Volkswagen's theory of evolution looks well vindicated. The Golf has been tuned to offer more in the restored volkswagen beetle a major disservice. A lot was changed in the restored volkswagen beetle and will be based on Ford's Transit and any other form but these days, things are very different. They chose a non GT spec model and have both. Last year, Volkswagen announced plans to become the world's largest automaker by 2018. Needless to say, many in the industry dismissed Volkswagen's plans as a distant goal at best. Here was Volkswagen, 4th largest in the world, hoping to surpass The Toyota Way in a mere decade? But oh, how times have changed. Almost a year later, things are shaping up for Volkswagen. So it looks like Toyota is starting to lose its lead. But what about Volkswagen? Continued success in emerging markets such as China and India, the forthcoming production plant in the US, and improvements in quality and pricing will all contribute to Volkswagen's success. Press release after the jump. WOLFSBURG, Germany - The Volkswagen Group has taken its place among the world's top three automakers thanks to the Wolfsburg-based company's outstanding delivery figures in the first half of 2008. Rival Ford had to settle for fourth position. Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, commented.
For the 2019 model year, BMW fits two of its best drivetrains to the X5. A third’s on hold; a fourth is coming, but not for two more years. With either engine, the X5 coddles passengers with a smooth, controlled ride, even with big run-flat tires clamped to its wheels. We give the 2019 X5 a 7 for performance, with extra points for its power choices. In the inevitable M trim, it’d likely get another point for ride and handling. The spendy drivetrain choice pairs BMW’s excellent twin-turbocharged, 4.4-liter V-8 with an 8-speed automatic and rear-bias all-wheel drive. In the X5 xDrive50i, the V-8 pumps out 456 hp and hits peak torque of 479 pound-feet at just 1,500 rpm. It’s pegged at a 0-60 mph time of 4.6 seconds, and a top speed of 130 mph (or up to 155 mph with the right option boxes ticked). It’s a glorious engine in other applications; we haven’t driven it yet, but faced with the X5’s excellent base powertrain, it’s difficult to see the V-8 as anything but a prestige buy. That’s because BMW’s single-turbo 3.0-liter inline-6 pours out 340 hp and 330 lb-ft, the latter also delivered at 1,500 rpm.
