The selection process of the European Car of the year 2013 has started and provincial list has been released. There are no categories or sub categories, the only purpose is to find a "single, decisive winner". The features on which the cars will be judged are : "design, comfort, safety, economy, handling, performance, functionality, eco friendliness, driver satisfaction and value for money". The jury has 58 members who are all journalists from 22 countries, each member is chosen on their country's car market and its importance. In late December the provisional list which has 35 nominees will be narrowed down to seven cars with simple vote. In the second round each member is responsible of assigning 25 points to five cars with not more than 10 points to a single model. Each member will also provide written justification of the points given. The organisers of the event are main players of automotive journalism industry including, Auto (Italy), Autocar (UK), Autopista (Spain), Autovisie (The Netherlands), L'Automobile Magazine (France), Stern (Germany) and Vi Bilagare (Sweden). The COTY 2013 will be held in Italy. Let's have a look at our favourites in the list.

Audi A3 is the pioneer to use Volkswagen's MQB chassis making it lighter and stronger than its predecessors. The choice of Audi engines include 1.4 turbo and 1.8 turbo in petrols and 2.0-litre diesel turbo. It comes with an excellent interior and a sharp sporty look. BMW has hit back with its new 3 series just when it was being thought that it has lost its way. The new 3 series comes with many on the board improvements, sleek design, charismatic interior and most of all a great driving experience which had been best selling point of BMW cars. BMW engines offered in 3 series are 2.0 four-cylinder turbo and 3.0 straight six turbo in petrols and a 2.0 four-cylinder turbo in diesels. The main reason of Ford B-Max in our favorites is its innovative design of handy sliding doors and missing B-pillars. This model ticks all the right boxes and is available in front wheel drive for the first time, it gives all the looks of a 4x4 but the drive is as smooth as any on road car can have. It has a roomy y interior and loads of boot space. The CR-V is available in 2.0-litre petrol and diesel Honda engines. Mazda 6 is a very well built car with a slinky look. It is very well equipped, even the entry level TS trim comes with climate control, cruise control and many safety features. The drive is great and the price is affordable. Toyota Auris: Auris is not the only car making in the list by Toyota. The second generation Auris has a different look (in a good way) than its predecessor. It is also offered in hybrid which gives an edge over its rivals like Ford Focus and Vauxhall Astra Tourer.

Recently, news was released announcing the 2016 model of the Jetta GLI, featuring a sporty new design. The model is considered to be the sedan version of the Golf GTI, so why not compare the two? Here we look at the differences between the 2016 Volkswagen Jetta GLI vs 2015 Volkswagen Golf GTI. You really can’t go wrong with either of these models. With the 2016 GLI’s new front fascia design incorporating a honeycomb grille and foglights, it much more closely resembles the sporty look of the Golf GTI. It makes sense too, seeing as how both models are outfitted with the same engine: a 2.0-liter TSI turbocharged engine delivering up to 210 horsepower. The GTI does, however, have the option of a Performance Package that can boost horsepower to 220. It’s no wonder why the Jetta GLI is considered the sedan equivalent of the Golf GTI. Of course, being a sedan is one of the things that makes the GLI most different from the GTI.

Both vehicle’s are spacious, but the Golf GTI’s hatchback makes it ideal for those who are often loading and unloading their belongings for road trips or other purposes. With the rear seats down, it has a maximum cargo capacity of 47.2 cu. As a sedan, the Jetta is particularly great for transporting passengers and simply for those who prefer a sedan over a hatchback. You still have plenty of room, and though the dimensions for the 2016 Jetta GLI have yet to confirmed, the 2015 Jetta has trunk space of up to 15.5 cu. The 2016 GLI will come with two trim levels: SE and SEL. The GTI, available as either a two-door or four-door model, has the S and SE, in addition to the Autobahn trim for four-door models. Features will depend on the trim level, though on both models you may be able to find push-button start, dual-zone climate control, a sunroof, a rearview camera, rain-sensing wipers and heated seats. The 2016 GLI SEL trim will also feature navigation, an Adaptive Front-Lighting System and Homelink.

Brand new on the GLI, however, is the Automatic Post-Collision Braking system. The 2016 GLI will feature this technology which has the ability to apply the brakes in the event of a collision, thereby helping to minimize the potential for any further damage. Though there are some differences between the 2016 Volkswagen Jetta GLI vs 2015 Volkswagen Golf GTI, there are also a number of similarities. It’s up to you to decide which model works best for you. Be sure to stay tuned to the Findlay Volkswagen blog for future updates and arrival date of the 2016 Jetta GLI model. What does the 2019 Jetta have to offer for performance and safety? What does each trim of the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta get you? This entry was posted on Wednesday, June 17th, 2015 at 10:06 pm and is filed under Volkswagen Golf GTI, Volkswagen Jetta. Would appreciate if you could send me a copy of the brochure for 2016 Jetta GLI. I’m specifically requesting a hard-copy. Reply if this is possible and I will send you my address. Can I have a free 2016 GLI in black? A GLI is more of a luxury car . Grand Luxury Injection. That’s what GLI stands for. GTI. Grand Touring Injection this is what I have read anyway. Drove them both in 2015 , GLI is smoother and quieter than a GTI.
