2019 Volkswagen Jetta Sportswagen HELP

Okay so I鈥檓 not familiar with Volkswagens and I鈥檓 not sure this is even the right sub so bare with me, also I apologize for the length of the post. I know about the recall in the vw for the emission or something? And that there are a bunch sitting in a field somewhere? Anyways, I鈥檓 pretty sure that鈥檚 where this one is from haha. From what I know, the idle is being really weird and these squiggly lines pop up along with his check engine light if he accelerates too much, which apparently means an engine control malfunction, possibly something with a converter. So now we are stuck in a state, and my brother desperately has to reach an internship 11hours away in ND by Monday and all the VW dealerships are closed . I鈥檓 writing this as a last ditch effort to figure out if there is something we can do to fix it ourselves so he can make it without damaging the engine or just anything helpful really. Not entirely sure about everything I wrote because I鈥檓 writing this on behalf of my brother who has run out of options and I鈥檓 feeling very useless. So I apologize in advance if this is confusing but I鈥檒l answer questions best I can!

The Volkswagen Jetta looks and feels different after its 2019 redesign, but it still doesn't stand out in the crowded compact car segment. That's why it finishes in the bottom third of our class rankings. There are plenty of reasons to like the Jetta, but you might find better options if you shop around. Don鈥檛 just take our word for it. Check out comments from some of the reviews that drive our rankings and analysis. As a package, the Jetta feels only a little bit above average. It's finally shed its relentlessly boring trappings to become attractive, and it offers good fuel economy and a nice set of features. What hurts the Jetta is its middling ride and handling and uninspiring powertrain. If you don't care about having a particularly engaging car, the latest Jetta will serve you just fine. In an era when Toyota is making an effort to make its cars more engaging to drive, Volkswagen, at least in its mainstream models, seem to be walking away from its once-defining trait. Clearly, the new Jetta is no longer a budget sports sedan.
