What Is VW Adaptive Cruise Control?

What is VW Adaptive Cruise Control? Volkswagen offers a full suite of driver assistance features on most of its models to help give drivers confidence and peace of mind behind the wheel. Some of these driver assistance systems include Front Assist, Park Assist, and Blind Spot Monitor鈥攂ut this blog will highlight the Adaptive Cruise Control feature. So, if you鈥檝e found yourself asking: What is VW Adaptive Cruise Control? How does VW Adaptive Cruise Control work? Volkswagen鈥檚 Adaptive Cruise Control feature is designed to help drivers maintain a preset distance from other vehicles on the road. The main goal is to help reduce the chance of a rear-end collision due to driver error. The Adaptive Cruise Control system uses sensors on the front of the car to monitor the road ahead, and will adjust to changing driving conditions. When the system senses an upcoming vehicle traveling at a slower speed, the ACC system will reduce the speed of the Volkswagen.

Once the vehicle ahead speeds up or moves out of the way, the ACC system will bring the Volkswagen back to the original pre-set speed. The controls for the ACC feature are located right on the multi-function steering wheels for easy access. The video below shows an example of the Adaptive Cruise Control system in action. Which VW Models have Adaptive Cruise Control? Volkswagen Adaptive Cruise Control is available on select trims on the following models: Jetta, Passat, CC, Golf SportWagen, Golf, Golf GTI, Golf R, Touareg, and the all-new Golf Alltrack. Please note that this driver-assistance feature is only available on higher trims of recent models, namely 2016 and 2017 models.
