Used 2019 Volkswagen Jetta Review & Ratings

The 2013 Volkswagen Jetta is available in Base, S, SE, SEL and TDI trim levels. The Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen is reviewed separately, as are the performance-oriented GLI and the new Jetta Hybrid. The base Jetta comes with 15-inch steel wheels, power windows, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, height-adjustable front seats, cloth upholstery, a 60/40-split-folding rear seat and a four-speaker stereo system with CD player and auxiliary jack. The Jetta S adds air-conditioning, power/heated side mirrors, power door locks and keyless entry, while opting for an S model with a sunroof also nets cruise control and a front center console. The Jetta SE gets a more powerful engine, 16-inch steel wheels, two-way power front seats (both with manual lumbar adjustment), a leather-wrapped steering wheel, shift knob and brake handle, a rear-seat center armrest, a trunk pass-through and premium vinyl upholstery. The SE Convenience package adds 16-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats, Bluetooth and a six-speaker sound system with satellite radio and an iPod interface. A sunroof can be added to the Convenience package and with it comes an upgraded sound system with a touchscreen interface and SD memory-card reader. The SEL includes all the SE's optional equipment, plus 17-inch alloy wheels, foglamps, keyless ignition/entry, a six-way power driver seat and a trip computer. The SEL also is available with touchscreen navigation that bundles an eight-speaker Fender premium sound system with a subwoofer. The Jetta TDI with its turbodiesel engine is equipped similarly to an SE with the Convenience package. Adding the Premium package gets a sunroof and Fender sound system with touchscreen interface. When equipped with the optional navigation system, the TDI also gets 17-inch alloy wheels, a six-way power driver seat and keyless ignition/entry.

The front grille has been modified for 2019, as has the roofline which is somewhat more coupe-like (but let鈥檚 not get carried away, this is no sportback-type car). The trunk gets a tiny little integrated spoiler as well for a slightly sportier look out back. Inside, the Jetta now features a new Digital Cockpit instrument cluster, highly personalizable to show the data you want to see. Right in front of the driver is an exclusive new 10.2-inch screen that can be fully configured. 20,995 base price, so you鈥檒l have to think hard about how badly you want that nifty set of systems. Mind you, with that you also get leather seating, heated and ventilated front seats, premium 400-watt Beats audio system (replacing the current Jetta鈥檚 Fender system), an electronic limited-slip differential, 17-inch wheels and LED headlights. Golf with a trunk? The Jetta has long been considered by many a less exciting adjunct to the popular Golf, a car for VW lovers who want a 鈥渃onservative鈥?four-door sedan in lieu of the hatched Golf. Esthetically, they have a point. The Jetta鈥檚 lines are pleasing enough, especially now that the front grille has been revised for a snazzier snout, but it doesn鈥檛 exactly look radically different from any number of standard-issue 4-doors on the market in its segment. But there鈥檚 a more fundamental difference. The Jetta drives like a VW, which is to say it鈥檚 responsive and nimble enough and holds the road fairly well. But it鈥檚 more staid than the Golf is in any of that model鈥檚 iterations. Suspension is firm but not tight, the steering is slightly looser than in its sibling, and the typically VW engine sound is here rather muted. Overall, this makes for a high-quality but notably less exciting drive.

They huffed, they puffed, and the big bad German wolves shut down production of the Golf in Mexico. That's right, Volkswagen's famous compact hatchback will not make the trip to the United States from south of the border. According to a report from Mexican auto magazine Al Volante, the decision comes into effect as of 2019, although "2019 model" is mentioned at the bottom of the text. But we think they mean two years from now, as the Golf's departure is said to coincide with the end of production for the Beetle. That news comes just as the Vocho (that's the nickname of the classic Beetle) celebrates its 50th anniversary in Mexico, so many people are understandably upset. But what's leading the change? Well, the most significant factor is the power of the union workers in Wolfsburg. But demand for the North American version of the Golf has been steadily declining too, as more and more people crave crossovers. Also, there have been concerns about the quality of the Golfs being shipped from Mexico. Puebla is currently the second largest Volkswagen factory outside of Germany. It also makes the Jetta for most markets, and the sedan is about to switch to a brand new generation. However, the future of the Mexico factory seems to revolve around crossovers: the Tiguan and especially the T-Roc. Reports that emerged earlier this year suggest Puebla will be responsible for a U.S. But we don't know what the future will bring for those thousands of Americans who buy a Golf every year. On one side, the quality will probably go up. But European imports are subject to currency fluctuations.

Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, we're gonna take a look at it and show how to install the EVO Formance Spectras H7 Halogen Headlight Bulbs. Now as you can see between our factory style light and our new Spectra light, we have a world of difference. Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Jetta we're gonna be doing a test fit on the Konig Standard Snow Tire Chains, part number TH01221090. The tires I'll be working with today is 205-55r16. What I really like about these chains, is that they're very quick and easy to install, and they also have a self-tensioning system right in here. We're not gonna have to purchase any other rubber adjusters or tensioners to make our chain stay snug against our tire, this system makes sure that it's tight. These chains have a diamond pattern, which is gonna give you more coverage around your tire, when compared to a ladder pattern. It's gonna give you great traction for starts and stops. The D-links in the chain are gonna dig into that snow and ice, and provide you with the traction that you need through rough conditions.

Today on this 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Titan Chain Diagonal Alloy Cable Snow Tire chains. Part number TC331DC. The tires that we're working with today is 20555R16.These chains have a V pattern which is going to provide you with more coverage around your tire as compared to the traditional latter pattern. The cable rollers are going to give you that extra grip you need through light snow and ice. Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Jetta we'll be doing a test fit of the WeatherTech second row floor liners in black, part number WT443382. These are also available in tan using part number WT453382, and in grey, part number WT463382. As you can see here we already have our driver's side installed. We're going to have these channels down along the bottom which are going to keep dirt, debris, and liquid from getting on your feet.
