2019 Volkswagen Jetta GLI Debuts With GTI Performance Goodies

2019 Volkswagen Jetta GLI Debuts With GTI Performance Goodies

The 2019 Volkswagen Jetta GLI debuted at the 2019 Chicago auto show, rounding out the German automaker's compact sedan family. Like its predecessor, the 2019 Jetta GLI is the performance variant of the Jetta family, but it used to play second fiddle to the iconic Golf GTI, missing out on key features like a limited-slip differential and more power. For the sixth-generation GLI, that's no longer the case; the 2019 Jetta GLI gets all the go-fast goods from its hatch sibling. In addition to two trims, Volkswagen will release a 35th Anniversary special edition model with black side mirror covers, a black spoiler, black roof, black alloy wheels with a red stripe, and 35th Anniversary badges. Power comes from the same 2.0-liter turbo I-4 with 228 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, and this engine can be paired to a standard six-speed manual or an optional seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. An independent rear suspension replaces the torsion beam found on the standard car and features a sportier calibration. The GLI sits 0.6 inch lower than the regular Jetta.

Large 13.4-inch brake pads shared with the Golf GTI and Golf R also come standard along with Volkswagen's VAQ limited-slip differential. Some key design cues that distinguish the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta GLI from its lesser kin include rounded dual exhaust tips, 18-inch wheels, red brake calipers, a honeycomb grille, and red accent lines on the front fascia. Four drive modes will be available鈥擭ormal, Sport, Eco, and Custom鈥攖he latter of which allows the driver to tailor steering, engine sound, the limited-slip differential, and throttle response to his or her tastes. The 35th Anniversary Edition model will be the only one with a fifth drive mode called Comfort. Base level 2019 Jetta GLIs will come standard with cloth sport seats, LED headlights, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, interior ambient lighting, keyless entry and start, and dual-zone climate control. The range-topping Autobahn trim will offer more features including Volkswagen's Digital Cockpit system, a panoramic sunroof, adaptive dampers, heated and ventilated front seats, leather upholstery, and a 400-watt Beats audio system. Forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert will come standard on the 2019 Jetta GLI. The 2019 Volkswagen Jetta GLI will hit dealers this spring. It will come with Volkswagen's People First Warranty, which covers six years or 72,000 miles and is transferable from the current owner to the next one.

Michael's EPA numbers are generally considered low for these cars. Can I put a TDI engine in a normally aspirated 2001 Jetta? Who could do that? How much would it cost? Not without rebuilding most of the car. The fuel tank, wiring harness, computer, exhaust, and clutch are different, if it's automatic, the programming is different. There's a lot more to it than an engine, it would cost way more than that car is worth, even if you had the engine. There's a saying in the automotive world: Don't build what you can buy. It will be much cheaper, easier and more reliable to just trade your current Jetta in on a TDI model. Engine swapping happens everyday, you just don't here about it alot. Mainly done with high performance engines. People have dropped 6L durmax diesels into mustangs for a 202mph diesel performance car. But it can be done on this level. The big question right now is what type transmission is in the car?

Some 5spd where used on both the gas and the diesel models. You would have to Reference the transmission chart in the Bentley Manual. The simplest, easiest way of doing this (assuming the Transmission can be used) is too used a ALH crate engine with the MECHANICAL fuel pump (the old school pumps that does not require a ecm). These are available for old cars that received upgraded motor. At the min you would need a ALH Crate engine, MECHANICAL Fuel Pump, ALH Exhaust Down pipe, Glow Plug Relay &harness, manual boost Controller for turbo and a few misc things. Whats a good name for a volkswagen beetle? I'm going to buy a new car soon. I really like the body styling of the Mk2 and Mk3 Volkswagen Jetta. I was wondering if these are safe cars and what sort of gas mileage do they get? I am specifically looking for 5 speed manual, if that makes a difference. The good: The cabin tech interface in the 2011 Volkswagen Jetta SEL looks good and is easy to use. The Bluetooth phone system offers dial by name through voice command. The bad: The manual transmission only has five gears, and the engine feels short of the claimed 170 horsepower. The navigation system lacks advanced features. The bottom line: The 2011 Volkswagen Jetta SEL makes for decent, if unexciting, transportation and includes a good suite of cabin electronics. Have you driven the latest Subaru OUTBACK ? Give that a go before buying. Don't go for a MKII or MKIII, go for the MKIV or MKV. MKVI unless you like cheap little underpowered crackerboxes. I barely squeezed 31mpg out of mine, but safety is ridiculous, I think it was VW's primary focus as the car weighs over 3,200lbs.(compact, yeah right).

Detectives have charged a man for torching the car of Robert Tran, shortly after the 24-year-old was shot dead on a Sydney street more than two years ago. Police were called to a street in Cabramatta late on the evening of July 2, 2016 following reports a man had been shot. They found Mr Tran's body lying on the road but his white VW Golf GTI had been taken from the scene. It was abandoned in a pub car park in nearby Graystanes at about midnight and finally located after it was set alight five days later. Strikeforce Mckane were established to investigate the murder and, on Monday, arrested 24-year-old Buffy Nguyen at Surry Hills Police Station. Detectives allege Nguyen was the one who torched Tran's car after the shooting. He was charged with accessory to murder after the fact, and damaging property with fire. He did not apply for bail and it was formally refused at Central Local Court on Tuesday. He is expected before the same court again on Monday. Investigations into the murder are continuing.
