Concept New Volkswagen Beetle R-Line Offers Visual Upgrades Inside and Out Volkswagen can tease U.S. Europe-only Scirocco and Phaeton, but the automaker鈥檚 new Beetle R-Line packages actually stand a chance of eventually making it to our shores. Based on the European-spec Volkswagen Beetle Sport model, the R-Line packages visually upgrade the coupe, distinguishing it from lesser Beetles. Inside, the sport seats are made from what Volkswagen calls an 鈥渁ctive-breathing fabric鈥?and, not surprisingly, there are R-Line badges on the front headrests. Light gray seams are featured on the steering wheel, gear shifter lever boot, and handbrake grip. The Beetle Sport R-Line can also be had with black leather, and with three engines including the U.S.-spec powertrains from the Beetle Turbo and Beetle TDI. While the R-Line interior and exterior packages add to the Beetle鈥檚 looks 鈥?just like the bolder Tiguan R-Line 鈥?we wouldn鈥檛 be disappointed if the subtle special-edition stayed in Europe.
