Note: Though, there is no clarity yet about the engine options that will come to India. Globally, the new Polo will be available with multiple petrol and diesel engines. The hatchback might get a 1.0-litre MPI unit with two power outputs, 65bhp and 115bhp, whereas the 1.0-litre TSI unit will churn out a top power of 95bhp against 115bhp of torque.





In addition, there will be a larger 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine sourced from Golf. This unit is expected to make 150bhp. Reports in media suggest that it could also get a 1.4-litre TSI unit with two outputs. However, the sportier Polo GTI version is likely to source its power from a 197bhp, 2.0-litre TSI engine borrowed from the fifth-gen Golf GTI. Transmission options on the carline will include a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual and an optional 7-speed dual-clutch DSG automatic gearbox. On the other hand, the BlueMotion trims will use a 5-speed manual unit and could return better fuel economy with reduced carbon footprint. However, there is yet no clarity whether the India-spec Polo will come with same engine setup or not. Since there is yet no clarity on the engine choices of the new Polo carline, it would be a tad too early to comment on the fuel economy.
