Golf Facelift Is A No-show In Paris, VW Displays 300-km E-Golf Touch Instead
The Golf is undoubtedly the most important product in VW鈥檚 huge model range, but nowadays in Paris it鈥檚 all about electrification. Taking center stage is the I.D. 2020 with a range varying between 249 miles (401 km) and 373 miles (600 km), depending on battery pack. The concept shares the spotlight in France鈥檚 capital with the e-Golf Touch, originally introduced back in January at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The main difference between the two cars is that the new one is being advertised as having the upgraded battery pack granting a range of up to 186 miles (300 km) based on the New European Driving Cycle. That鈥檚 a significant improvement compared to the e-Golf on sale today that will only do 118 miles (190 km) as per NEDC. Much like the aforementioned e-Golf Touch, the refreshed compact hatchback and wagon will gain the Active Info Display from the VW Passat. It鈥檚 a 12.3-inch entirely digital instrument cluster that鈥檒l be offered as optional equipment and will replace the analog dials for a more high-tech look. Also previewed by the e-Golf Touch is a larger 9.2-inch infotainment system with support for gesture control. This one too will be offered as optional kit across the Golf range. As far as the other changes are concerned, several leaks (pictured above) have already revealed the styling tweaks will be kept down to a minimum, both inside and out. That's why we are not holding our breath for any major surprises. The plug-in hybrid GTE version available today exclusively as a hatchback might be joined by the more practical wagon body style, but we鈥檒l have to wait for a confirmation from VW.

The rear pews feature the usual split/fold setup along with the ability to slide forward 18 centimetres to free up further space, one of many clever touches that make the Tiguan a compelling proposition.
