My Boat Was Running Well Too

My Boat Was Running Well Too

Morning: Visit VeeDub show put on by the Vintage Volkswagen Society at Hatton. A quiet but friendly show. Not a huge number of vehicles attended but there were some goodies. I liked the shortened pickup - it鈥檚 for sale too, for 拢2500. If only the premium bonds had come up this month ! Anyway, for pictures, check my Flickr page. Afternoon: Boat club BBQ with Slingshot racing. A good afternoon was had by all despite the weather. My boat was running well too. I won the final heat and would have clocked up 20 laps in five minutes had I gone the right side of every buoy and not been docked half a lap. The Slingshots are gradually getting modified well beyond their RTR origins. The picture shows the bumper I have fitted to mine, which is made from a piece of fuel pipe slit along the centre and glued on with epoxy glue. The Blu-tack is holding it in place while the glue dries. The bumper stops, or at least limits the damage I could cause to other boats in the hurly-burly of the racing. It hopefully stops me damaging myself if I clobber a buoy on the way round. If nothing else, it brightens up the already pretty loud colour scheme of the boat even more.

Having reported a 13-percent sales decline in September, Mercedes-Benz, in particular, is offering a number of great deals on 2009 models, mostly as cash to dealers that can be passed along to buyers. BMW is offering a "Diesel Credit" on all of its diesel models. 4,000 rebate on the pricey Cadillac Escalade Hybrid. 4,500 off or zero-percent financing on the Chrysler Aspen Hybrid, which shares the same two-mode hybrid technology as the Escalade but the Aspen was barely launched before the automaker pulled it off the market. 199 a month lease. A handful of minivans are on sale. 3,500 cash rebate or zero-percent financing for up to 60 months. 3,000 rebate. The Volkswagen Routan, based on the Chrysler minivans, offers zero-percent financing. And Honda is providing a special lease rate on its Odyssey. Other models on Edmunds' great deals list for October include the Chevrolet Malibu, Dodge Charger, Honda Civic, Mazda6, Nissan Altima, Suzuki SX4, Volvo C30, Volkswagen Rabbit and Passat. 2,500 rebate or zero-percent financing on the Pontiac Solstice. 5,000 cash rebate on its Titan pickup. 15,000 in incentives, which can be passed onto consumers, on its luxury cars, including the Mercedes-Benz SL.

There is a simple reason for that, too. According to AutoGuide, the VW Passat, VW Beetle and VW Golf all rank in the top-10 best-selling cars of all time; combining for nearly 70 million vehicles sold all-time. Founded in 1937 by the German Labour Front, the Volkswagen Group is the largest automaker by worldwide sales. Volkswagen is German for 鈥減eople's car,鈥?with models such as the Beetle and Volkswagen Microbus being popularized on the U.S. Today, Volkswagen retains its people's car status, but with greater engine power in a more diversified line of cars, and of course, integrated with much more advanced VW auto parts and the latest technology features. The VW Jetta, Passat, Touareg, and revamped Beetle are some of the most popular cars on the road today with features and advanced VW parts that uphold their resale value, regardless of mileage. Some of these features include excellent VW drivetrain systems, solid construction with superior core design, first rate reliability, a roomy interior with noticeable leg room even in smaller models, and above all, safe operation.

Having produced vehicles that appeal to green-forward drivers throughout the years, it's no surprise that Volkswagen is focusing on advanced green technology for the future. Volkswagen has announced that it鈥檒l produce the I.D. Buzz concept electric vehicle by 2022 for the United States, Europe, and China. The I.D. Buzz van is an all-electric version of the VW Microbus. The I.D. Buzz will feature highly automated driving technology, 22-inch wheels, and a front trunk. The I.D. Buzz also equips VW parts like a 111-kWh battery pack, which can recharge 80 percent of the vehicle's energy capacity in 30 minutes. The I.D. Buzz can hold nearly 163 cubic feet of cargo - the same space as a full-size SUV - and can comfortably seat eight passengers.
