Huge 2019 VW Jetta GLI Gallery Helps You Choose Your Favorite Model
As the 2019 Jetta GLI is arriving at dealers across the United States, VW has released a huge photo gallery that highlights the differences between the three available models. The compact sports sedan is available in two regular grades (S and Autobahn) and a special 35th Anniversary Edition. To better help you navigate the gallery, you should know the red car is the base Jetta GLI S, the white one is the Jetta GLI Autobahn, and the grey one is the Jetta GLI 35th Anniversary Edition. Regardless of the version, all models get the same 228 hp 2.0-liter TSI engine from the Golf GTI paired with a standard six-speed manual or an optional 7-speed DSG. All Jetta GLIs also feature a VAQ electronically-controlled limited-slip differential, multi-link independent rear suspension, progressive variable-ratio steering, and bigger brakes. Unique GLI styling features present on all models include the 0.6 inches lower sports suspension, aggressive bumpers, black honeycomb grille in a honeycomb pattern, side skirts, 18-inch wheels, a rear spoiler, and dual chrome exhaust. Standard features across the board include full-LED lights, 10-color ambient lighting, KESSY keyless access and push-button start, dual-zone Climatronic, Front Assist, Blind Spot Monitor, and Rear Traffic Alert. 895 destination) and offers all of the features listed above as standard.
I am not given to such physical labor. It did not matter. Slippery, icy residue covered the driveway. Our little street in North Arlington was hard-packed with snow. But, inspired by the previous day鈥檚 exhilarating drive on dry roads, I was convinced that the GTI Autobahn could somehow negotiate the ice. I was slipping and sliding all over the place, never made it up any of the hills in my neighborhood, and finally wound up stuck in a snowbank in front of my house. I was grateful for several things: I did not hit or injure anybody. I did not crash into anything. I am blessed with neighbors who obviously have more compassion than I had common sense. And another thing: I am very happy that Binta, our eldest daughter, left her all-wheel-drive Subaru Outback in our driveway on her recent visit. The Subaru started right away and moved over the ice and snow without once slipping or sliding. It was our go-to car until the ice melted. But I parked the Subaru as soon as it was reasonably safe to get back into the GTI Autobahn.
That opportunity came with only a few hours left before the Volkswagen people returned to retrieve their little car. I enjoyed every remaining second with it. Bottom line:鈥塗he Volkswagen Golf GTI hatchback is one of the most affordable, best-made, most fuel-efficient, most fun-to-drive hatchback performance cars available. It鈥檚 no wonder it has been around for more than a quarter of a century. People who love driving love this car. Caveat: If you buy it, also set aside money for the purchase and installation of genuine winter tires. Ride, acceleration and handling: You get excellent acceleration and handling on dry roads. Ride in the new GTI is a tad harsh despite three-mode (normal, sport, normal-sport combo) ride adjustment. Leave this one parked in inclement winter weather. Head-turning quotient: The exterior is nicely, smoothly redone. The SE version鈥檚 black leather seats with red piping are hip. Body style/layout: The 2015 Volkswagen Golf GTI is a completely reworked front-wheel-drive, front-engine compact hatchback car.
It is available with two or four side doors. Three iterations 鈥?S, SE and range-crowning Autobahn. Engine/transmission: The 2015 Golf GTI comes standard with a turbocharged 16-valve, 2-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with variable valve timing (210 horsepower, 258 pound-feet of torque) linked to a six-speed manual transmission. The model used for this column was equipped with an optional six-speed automatic that also could be operated manually. Capacities: Seating is for five people. Cargo capacity is 22.8 cubic feet with all seats in place and 52.7 cubic feet with rear seats folded. Fuel capacity is 13.2 gallons. Premium unleaded gasoline is recommended. Mileage: I averaged 35 miles per gallon in dry-road highway driving. I don鈥檛 know how much fuel I wasted spinning wheels on ice. Safety: Standard equipment includes front and rear ventilated disc brakes, four-wheel anti-lock brake protection, emergency braking assistance, stability and traction control, and front fog/driving lights. 820 factory-to-dealer shipment charge.
