This particular species lived exculsivley in Asia, and dieted on bamboo sticks and fruit.The large appetite of the ape interestingly led to its demise, however. During the Pleistocene era, when more and more forested areas turned into savanna landscapes, there simply wasn鈥檛 enough food for the giant ape to consume!
