Subaru Is Showing Us Again How Their Future Will NOT Look Like
Here is another concept car from Subaru. They've been showing us the Viziv Concept last year and now this one is called the Subaru Viziv 2 Concept. This concept showcases "environmental friendliness and driving pleasure" as well as "design and utility" at the highest level. What this plug-in hybrid crossover vehicle actually tells me is that THIS IS WHAT SUBARU WILL NOT BUILD FOR US IN THE NEAR FUTURE. Why am I saying so? So Subaru is basically telling me that this isn't what they'll actually build but it tells me that they can build it but only once, for a car show and that's about it. So am I going to explain what drivetrain does it have (typical Subaru Boxer in 1.6liter form hooked up to a CVT) or what else does it do? No. The pictures are good enough for you to look at though. Those doors will never, ever make a production Subaru. Which is one of the reasons why I am adamant that this is an exercise in futility.
The Accord was one of Edmunds' top-rated midsize sedans in 2017, though, so it's worth considering before the new version goes on sale this fall. If you're looking for a deal on a big, three-row family vehicle, Chevy's Traverse crossover is a good place to start. An all-new, fully redesigned model arrives this fall, but plenty of 2017 models are still available. And in this case, your family might actually prefer the current model since it's considerably bigger inside than the redesigned version, which has been downsized. This popular compact crossover is unveiling a full redesign for the 2018 model year, but it doesn't go on sale until August. That leaves time to find a deal on the 2017 models still on the lots. Although the new model is a complete redesign, it's similar in size and style, so if you're willing to forgo some of the new model's upgraded tech features, the savings on a 2017 are worth considering. A new and considerably bigger Volkswagen Tiguan arrives this fall, but the current Tiguan has a nice combination of size and features that make it worth a look.
Its turbocharged engine, though not great for fuel economy, is powerful, and the Tiguan's cabin is decked out in premium materials. Pricing on this model trends higher than the norm, but there are likely deals to be had. When it comes to luxury crossovers, the compact X3 is one of the best in its class. An all-new version arrives in November, so expect to find some good deals on the current model in the coming months. Typical of BMW, the redesigned X3 doesn't look dramatically different compared to the current model, so few will even notice that you didn't pay up for the latest model. EDMUNDS SAYS: Just because a current model is about to be replaced doesn't mean it shouldn't be on your shopping list. Great deals await shoppers willing to forgo the latest features in favor of last year's models. This story was provided to The Associated Press by the automotive website Edmunds . A fully redesigned version is scheduled to go on sale in the fall of 2017, and will offer additional features in a smaller overall package. Edmunds suggests considering the current Traverse as it will likely become heavily discounted ahead of the arrival of the redesigned version. This photo provided by Volkswagen shows the 2017 Tiguan compact SUV. A new, much larger version of the Tiguan arrives in fall 2017 which means the 2017 model will likely become heavily discounted. Edmunds suggests considering the current Tiguan if you don't need the three rows of seating offered in the new model. This photo provided by BMW shows the 2017 X3 compact crossover. An all-new version of the X3 is scheduled to arrive in fall 2017, and will offer revised engines and additional features. Edmunds predicts that the current model will become heavily discounted to make way for the 2018 X3.
