Paint Finish, Removing Industrial Fallout
Paint finish damaged by industrial fallout. Industrial fallout consists of small
airborne, mostly metallic particles that settle onto the paint surface. Rubbing your
hand across the clean surface will reveal a gritty texture.
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
Vehicles damaged by industrial fallout can be restored using the procedure described in
this Technical Bulletin.
PRODUCTION SOLUTION
No production change required.

The following three steps MUST be followed IN SEQUENCE to restore contaminated paint
finish.
Tip: Use separate wash mitts and towels for each step. Do not mix mitts/towels or
Finish Kare? products.
STEP 1: Surface preparation and removal
Mix a solution of Finish Kare?, Product No. 1119 (locally available) and water.

Ratio: 4 parts water
1 part Finish Kare? 1119
Starting with a clean, dry wash mitt:
Apply Finish Kare? 1119 solution to entire vehicle.
Tip: Keep vehicle surfaces wet with the solution at all times. Do not allow the
product to dry on the vehicle or to streak down the sides.
After all panels have been wetted:
Agitate solution on surfaces using a clean towel (reapply solution during
agitation).
Keep vehicle wet with solution for 3 to 5 minutes.
After 3 to 5 minutes, power/pressure wash vehicle with cold water.
Dry vehicle.

Using a clean wash mitt:
Apply fallout remover, Finish Kare? Product No. 883 (locally available) to affected
areas.

Tip: Keep vehicle surfaces wet with the solution at all times. Do not allow the product
to dry on the vehicle or to streak down the sides.
After affected panels have been wetted:
Agitate solution on affected surfaces using a clean towel (reapply solution during
agitation).
Allow 5 minutes (no longer) for solution to remove fallout.
After 5 minutes:
Power/pressure wash vehicle with clear cold water.
Dry vehicle.
Inspect vehicle paint finish (repeat Step 2 If necessary).
STEP 3: Neutralization and final Cleaning
Mix a solution of Finish Kare? Product No. 118 SC (locally available) and water.

Ratio: 128 parts water
1 part Finish Kare? 118 SC
(i.e. 1 oz. 118 SC to 1 gallon of water)
Wash entire vehicle thoroughly with solution.
Rinse vehicle with clean water.
Dry vehicle completely.
Inspect vehicle and determine if another application is necessary.
