2019 VW Touareg Release Date, Price, Interior Redesign, Exterior Colors, Changes, Specs

Volkswagen Club Fest Sofia 2018
Like on any other new VW’s release, the biggest possible thing on this 2018 VW Touareg is the new MLB platform. That will be the joint platform for all VW group’s vehicles, to lower the production cost and the cost of the spare parts. The redesigned model (third generation) was seen in a couple of occasions during this year. It was spotted on the road and in traffic, wearing heavy camouflage over its front and back. What we could see is that the model is going through the serious makeover in the interior and exterior likewise. The updates for the engine are not official, but we expect the somewhat better versions of gasoline and diesel engines. A hybrid version is not out of the picture, especially after they announced the new MLB platform. 51,350 in the U.S. 2,000 higher price than you would have to pay for the current model.

Expect higher prices in Europe. The biggest part of the 2018 VW Touareg, we had an opportunity to review, wasn’t under the camouflage. But that was just enough to conceal all the updates we cared about. Nevertheless, the thing that we know for sure is that the vehicle’s dimensions are going to stay the same. We know that because there were some spy shots of a three rows SUV, earlier this year. That SUV was almost the same in dimensions like the 2018 VW Touareg. The style is going to be similar to the T-Prime Concept car or something you could expect out of the new redesigned Passat. If they follow those cues, then expect a large grille with new headlights and LED daytime running lights. Bumpers on the front and back are going to be stylistically different, sportier and edgier than before. The rear part is going to have the thinner backlights placed way high and a lot of chrome all around the bumpers. The overall design will be much lighter, which naturally comes with the new platform.

All the companies now tend to drop the heavy materials and they look for new in order to have a more fuel efficient vehicles. That is why almost every car manufacturer now has a new platform. Inside, in the 2018 VW Touareg interior expect enough room for more than just five persons. Yes, the vehicle will be registered for five, but it is huge. It has always been a vehicle with a great deal of comfort. Although, we have to emphasize that it will not be made as a three-row version. The overall space inside the cabin is going to be slightly bigger, having in mind that VW announced lower height of seats. That different design of seats means that we will have more room for our heads and shoulders, but it could be a problem for knees and toes of some taller persons. Everything has been good inside, and nobody had anything to cry about, except maybe the infotainment system.

That is going to be fixed in this redesigned interior. There will be a central 15” display, mounted in the middle of the console, modernized instrument cluster and door panels made of high-grade leather. The quality of seats is going to differ from trim to trim but expect only the best. This is a VW after all. It’s a “no-brainer” when we come to the topic of 2018 VW Touareg engine options. Diesel and gasoline engines are the default offer in the VW’s arsenal. The all-new engine will be a 2.0 liter four cylinder, but only for Europe and Asia. Fuel consumption will be better than on the last model. Because we don’t have any official data, the last year’s EPA rates were 17mpg city/ 23mpg highway/ 19mpg combined. Since there are spaceships that will spend less fuel, VW had to do something. That is why they now have the totally different platform, lighter materials, and better engines. All previous versions of VW Touareg were too small in the cargo space, too thirsty for fuel and two steps behind with the quality of infotainment system. Even the top of the line VW Touareg Executive trim level had a terrible infotainment. 50,000 for a car, you expect perfection. That is what we are hoping to see different this time. That is why we were so happy because we saw a different display on the console and that news about the platform change.

It remains quiet at highway speeds and features some soft-touch materials, but you can also spot some hard plastics that detract from the overall feel. The Jetta provides just over 14 cubic feet of cargo space, which is enough room for about 10 pieces of carry-on luggage. That's a good amount of room for this class, and you can fold down the rear seats if you need to carry larger items. Standard features in the Jetta include the MIB II infotainment system with a 6.5-inch touch screen, four speakers, a USB port, Bluetooth, and VW Car-Net App-Connect, which includes connectivity options like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and MirrorLink. Available features include a sunroof, an eight-speaker BeatsAudio sound system, HD Radio, satellite radio, and an upgraded infotainment system with an 8-inch touch screen, navigation, additional VW Car-Net services, and an additional USB port. The Jetta features a user-friendly infotainment system with plenty of smartphone connectivity technology and a responsive, easy-to-see touch screen.
