New Kia Ceed 2019 Review

Kia’s a car company with confidence right now. There’s more than a hint of Stinger to the new Ceed’s look. It’s lower and wider than before with a broader tiger nose grille and swept back lights, while this newly confident Kia talks about a more engaging drive - we’ll see about that later. While the overall length of the car hasn’t changed, the rear overhang has grown to enlarge the boot, and the interior has been given a thorough makeover in keeping with the brand’s other new models. Quality wise, it’s on par with the Golf. Our first test is of a new 1.4-litre T-GDi petrol engine model, likely to be the UK’s best seller ahead of two new 1.6-litre diesels. You can also go for a three-cylinder 1.0-litre petrol with 119bhp, which powers the entry-level car that starts at £18,295 in 2 spec. Whatever happened to 1 spec we’ll never know, but we’re told that PCP prices will start at a little over £200 thanks to a decent deposit from you and a generous £1500 contribution from Kia. Our 1.4 3 should cost a little over £20,500 - undercutting a less powerful Golf Match by over £1500.

But can it outpunch it on the road? The new engine is smooth and sprightly from a standstill and in gear, but perhaps most remarkable is how quiet it is - the first time you turn a wheel you’ll be surprised at the hush. A claimed average economy just the right side of 50mpg is welcome, too. But don’t go thinking Kia is playing the comfort card here - remember the word engaging? Kia has had a go, but the new K2 platform is where things start to unravel. The ride is certainly sporty, but that makes it firm, too. It never really settles, even when cruising, so we’ll have to have a close look at ride comfort when the car comes to the UK - as you should. That said, the cars on our Portuguese test drive sat on sexy 17-inch wheels - lesser options may be a better bet. This, though, is a family hatchback and the new Ceed does the family things pretty well.

August 22, 1902 was the date that the Cadillac brand was founded. America's premiere luxury nameplate, and one of the few automotive makes from that time period that survived to this date. Sport package's grille and body kit is stunning. SRX has the silhouette of your typical modern crossover. It can also be had with or without all-wheel drive (the latter a bit of a rarity these days in the luxury SUV world), but those are about the only true similarities it shares with trucks. It ditches the traditional body on frame construction for a unibody setup, allowing a car like feeling when turning, accelerating and braking. That's a good thing, although truck guys will be quick to point out that those virtues are also its weak points; it isn't as robust as a true truck, and the towing capacity is significantly lower. Not only that, but any off roading other than over a cottage driveway is not recommended.That said, the SRX has turned out to be a very pleasant surprise for Cadillac, winning various accolades from the automotive industry since its inception.

The year that it came out it was nominated for Truck of the Year, and up until 2006 it was on Car and Driver's Five Best Trucks list. 20-inch wheels are very bling, but their 7-spoke design is also quite nice to look at. Not wanting to disappoint its loyal followers, Cadillac has added some upgrades for 2007 in an effort to keep things fresh. The back end is a little on the upright side. It adds to utility and cargo space, though. 3.91:1 from 3.23:1.Our tester wasn't fully loaded - it didn't have the navigation system, for instance - but no one complained about a lack of features whatsoever. In fact, if you're trying to save a few bucks then chances are the nav system and the other few options that would have made it fully loaded aren't even on your radar anyway. UltraView sunroof turns the SRX into a quasi-convertible.
