Text and photo from Volkswagen AG. Wolfsburg/Hanover, 06 March 2006 - At the CeBIT exhibition starting 9 March 2006, Volkswagen will be presenting a study on the Eos, in which tomorrow's multimedia and communication functions can be seen today. Based on a car PC from inperio Systems with an Intel Celeron Processor (650 MHz), a RAM with 256 MB and a hard drive with 20 GB the user enjoys all the functions that he has at home. The data processor is centrally located in the backrests of the rear seats. Both have 7 inch monitors installed in the head restraints of the front seats, as already known from rear seat entertainment. The external keyboard or games consoles are connected via wireless LAN and the bandwidth of the car infotainment system can be utilised in full. In addition to a navigation system, pictures, videos, DVDs and music can also be played, even online work is possible. Emails can be sent and received, or you can communicate directly and in realtime with business partners and friends via a messenger.
Each remote can be set with unique profiles to accommodate the individual preferences of two different drivers. The available preferences include driver seat and mirror positions, along with select HVAC functions. Other preferences include turning entry lights on or off, door lock and unlock modes and more. In the event both owners use the car at the same time, the Accord will recognize the keyless remote that approaches the driver's door first. All Accord trims feature auto-on/off headlights for greater convenience. The headlights are LED low beams coupled with multi-reflector/projector high beam units on all Honda Accord trims except the Touring, which has auto-on/off LED (high and low beam) headlights. All Accord trims feature dramatic LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL). The Accord's Electric Parking Brake (EPB) makes using the parking brake easier and frees up precious center console space for storage and other functions. The Hill Start Assist function helps to prevent the Accord from rolling backwards when the driver switches from the brake pedal to the accelerator pedal while the vehicle is stopped on a hill.
The Accord also offers the next-generation of HondaLink telematics with new capabilities including emergency roadside assistance, remote locking/unlocking and engine start, stolen vehicle tracking, remote diagnostics, geofencing, speed tracking and more. Additional new or improved connected-car technologies available on the 2018 Accord include wireless device charging, automatic Bluetooth® phone pairing with Near Field Communication technology and available 4G LTE in-car Wi-Fi. Audio systems vary by trim, starting with four speakers and 160 watts on LX, 8 speakers and 180 watts on Sport and EX trims, and 10 speakers and 450 watts on EX-L, EX-L Navi and Touring trims. All trims feature USB charging ports (two 2.5-amp ports on EX and above) along with Bluetooth connectivity. The Accord LX has a standard 160-watt AM/FM radio audio system with four full-range speakers, positioned one in each front door and one on each side of the rear deck. The system can play Pandora® content from a compatible device via the USB port, or wirelessly, via Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®. The audio system has a 7-inch (diagonal) display screen and conventional "hard" buttons and knobs to control the various functions.
Illuminated steering wheel mounted controls are positioned within fingertip reach. The all-new Display Audio system standard in the 2018 Honda Accord EX, Sport, EX-L, EX-L Navi, and Touring is one of the most advanced systems ever offered by Honda. The 8-inch touchscreen lets you swipe, tap and pinch - just like on a tablet or smartphone - to control the vehicle's audio system, display settings and other advanced features. The intuitive and easy-to-use system has a simplified menu structure, customizable shortcuts for commonly used features and customizable app locations. On the EX and Sport, the 180-watt audio system has eight speakers. A full-range speaker is positioned in each front door and on each sides of the rear deck. Tweeters are placed near each A-pillar and on each side of the rear deck. The EX-L, EX-L Navi and Touring trims feature a 450-watt system with 10 channels of external amplification driving 10 speakers including a subwoofer.
