Top 5 Family Cars

If you have more people to pack into a car than just two then this small list of top family cars could prove useful. From a family car we ultimately want versatility as well as an abundance of space and a purring efficient engine that does not wake the baby or disturb the family dog. We also want value for money and enough power to get us from A to Scotland without having to get someone to push. The Volkswagen Touran 1.9 TDI S may be a few years old but it is still a sturdy family car with a reasonable price tag. With its spacious interiors and its clever rearest seat (6 and 7) folding into the floor there is just so much space for even two dogs and your whole family. When in place the seats don't offer a huge amount in leg room but there is enough for children and the middle row even slides forward.

Although within the higher price bracket compared to Toyota or Vauxhall this well built, quality Volkswagen vehicle also has the full reassurance of five NCAP safety stars. Next up is the Skoda Octavia 1.9 TDi Ambiente with its strong diesel engine and proof that owning a Skoda need not be a laughing matter anymore. The Skoda Octavia is based on the late VW Golf and is in fact even better, not just in space with enough room for 5 people plus a dog but also in value. At a lower price bracket than that of the Volkswagen Touran this car is reasonable for what may be a traditional approach to family motoring which offers safety, comfort and ample space. The Skoda Octavia is the better choice for performance and economy. Thirdly, the Toyota Prius available as a hatchback or solar roof hybrid can have an engine size of up to 1.8 VVT-iT4. Although the engine size is slightly smaller than the Volkswagen Touran and Skoda Octavia the engine still runs extremely quietly. Known for its incredible engineering (with few breakdowns on record) this car is as practical and efficient as it is safe. The final family option, number 5 is the Renault Modus 1.2 Expression. This supermini has a sprinkling a magic mixed in with its otherwise family friendly features. With a clever 5 seats and even underfloor storage you will be able to cram in the whole family and any luggage with ease. The boot chute is also another family friendly feature which involves the boot hinges opening towards the floor, making access even easier. With a modest 1.2 litre engine the Renault Modus 1.2 Expression comes in at an economical low price bracket that ensures you a quality, comfortable drive the full five safety stars from Euro NCAP.

I would jumped at the Atlantic Blue given the chance. Henry Ford said :- "You can have it in any colour you like, as long as it's Black". Unless you can see the model, in your top three colours of your choice then you we never be 100% sure ! Have a look to see what cars your local dealer has in the respective colours (doesn't have to be an e-golf or even a golf). I changed my mind about my GTE colour about 20 times before I actually went to the dealership to see what the colours look like on the cars. I’ve just ordered a Oryx White Golf GTE, and is looking for some pics of it. Would you mind posting some of your GTE? One of them colours you have to see in the flesh really ? Vlad, E-Gizmo and DanTup like this. One of them colours you have to see in the flesh really ? It looks deep and reflects the light beautiful. A few days ago my wife saw a white silver golf in the carpark near her Polo. She had changed her mind again and is going for iridium grey, back to her original choice. I don't care which it is, vw just needs to hurry up and let us know when they are going to start building the UK cars. A choice of different shades of grey, black, white, silver and colours so dark the may as well be black. Why do German car makers have to produce such a dreary coloured cars.

The Indian automobile industry has undergone a drastic change over the last decade, if you wished to buy a car in India around ten years ago you barely had a handful of options to choose from. If you wished to purchase a small car, the first thing that would come to mind was the Maruti 800, which is one of the best selling cars in India till date. The only other available hatchback was the Daewoo Matiz. In the sedan segment, you could choose from the Maruti Esteem, Daewoo Cielo, Hindustan Motors Contessa and the Opel Astra. All this seems like a very distant and hazy memory if you look at the automobile industry today. Today we are too spoilt with options; one has too many options to choose from in each segment. International car giants like Honda, Skoda, Chevrolet and Volkswagen are all major competitors in the car market and are all fighting to gain a stronghold of the Indian market.
