I'll admit, this summer has been bereft of Volkswagen news, aside of course from the occasional rumour or spyshot. But the fall is coming and that also means we are closing in on the Paris Motor Show this October. Ahead of the show, we are now receiving details on some of the Mk. VI Golf's variants, namely the GTI, the R version, and the GTD. The GTI (spyshot pictured), a concept of which is said to be unveiled at Paris, will receive a power bump by 10 bringing the total output to 210 hp. Much like the current GTI, the 6th gen GTI should reach 60 in under 7 seconds and have a top speed of 150 mph. Expect this out in the (European) market middle of 2009. Sources also say that, like the launch of the Mk. V in the US, the GTI will be brought to North America ahead of the Rabbit (or Golf if Volkswagen decides to return to the classic nomenclature). The R version of the Mk. VI as we've mentioned before will forgo the six banger in favour of a 4 cylinder engine. Fans are already foaming in the mouth. But don't worry too much, the next R version is said to make 270 hp and will also have AWD. I must admit, 270 hp and AWD in a much lighter car thanks to a 4 cylinder sounds pretty sweet! Lastly, the GTD, a diesel version of the GTI, is expected to produce 170 hp from its common rail diesel engine. Release is expected in April of next year.

Buyers of even the least expensive Q5 will enjoy an intuitive infotainment system displayed in a dashtop 7.0-inch screen; an 8.3-inch unit is optional. Most of the expected infotainment features are present and accounted for in the base Q5, including Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Things get much more interesting if you add the optional navigation system, as it comes with a reconfigurable digital gauge cluster that Audi calls Virtual Cockpit. It provides a wide, 12.3-inch view of the nav map plus selected media, phone controls, trip computer, speed, and tachometer, or a combination of these. When it came to squeezing in our carry-on cargo boxes, the Q5 didn't impress. It beat the smaller Macan, but only just and held 18 cases with the rear seats folded. For comparison, the miniature Honda HR-V fit 22. The Q5's rear seatbacks easily fold in a 40/20/40 fashion, however, providing flexibility that the RX doesn't have. The Q5 has fared excellently in crash tests from both the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the latter of which called the Audi a Top Safety Pick. Automated emergency braking and forward-collision warning are both standard and other driver-assistance features becomes available in the pricier models. Audi's warranty coverage for the 2019 Q5 is average, and many rivals offer longer coverage periods. Buyers of brand-new Q5 models can take advantage of a free service for their first scheduled maintenance visit at 10,000 miles.
Exterior: The front part of the new Renault Clio has undergone a complete nose job. This time the car looks in line with that of the new Megane. The lower grille is much more wide and racy with huge gaps. The front lights have also become wider and seem more stretched. The back end of the car has new light systems and the renewed bumper give the Clio, the appearance of a wider car. Interior: The Renault Clio is outright spacious and comfortable. The car though lacks on the style aspect considering its French connection and is not as sleek as the interior of the Ford Fiesta. The car also falls short in terms of the car quality unlike the Volkswagen Polo. The Dynamique trim above gives a softer dashboard with quality materials. Practicality: The Renault Clio is best in class in terms of the cabin space in its segment.
