2019 Volkswagen Jetta Price, Launch, Specifications, Features

Unlike the current generation that is based on the PQ35 platform, the seventh-generation Jetta uses Volkswagen鈥檚 Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB) platform. The new version also features bolder and a more spacious cabin along with a pack of new technology, thus making it more upmarket than the existing model. 18545 (around Rs 11.76 lakh). This makes it more affordable than the outgoing base model. Hinrich J. Woebcken, CEO, North American Region, Volkswagen said, 鈥淭he Jetta has long been Volkswagen鈥檚 best-selling vehicle in the United States and we expect that this all-new car will continue to resonate with buyers in the compact sedan class. The 2019 Volkswagen Jetta has witnessed significant dimensional changes. Sitting on 2,684mm of longer wheelbase, the sedan鈥檚 new model is longer, wider and taller than the current one. Though, the overhangs have been trimmed down. The grown proportions also result more cabin space for the front and rear seats occupants. Face of the car has been revised with large hexagonal grille, LED lighting, sharper lines and lots of chrome.

What add more to its premium looks are the fast sloping roof line, LED taillights and dual exhaust tips. Interior of the new VW Jetta is driver-oriented featuring a high-mounted infotainment system in the dashboard. The new trapezoidal design bits and top quality soft-touch materials add more to its premium feel and appeal. Volkswagen offers optional 10 colour wrap around ambient lighting on the sedan. The car gets newly designed door trim and seats with new fabric colours. The front seats of the sedan are heated and ventilated, and the driver鈥檚 seat is power adjustable and has memory function. The dual zone Climatronic automatic climate control enhances the comfort quotient of the car. Globally, the VW Jetta 2019 will continue to use the Volkswagen鈥檚 1.4-litre turbocharged TSI engine boosted with direct injection technology. This motor delivers a peak power of 144bhp against a class-leading torque of 249Nm. While an 8-speed automatic transmission comes as standard on the higher trim, it鈥檚 optional on the base model. Interestingly, the Start/Stop system has been reserved for the automatic variants. A new 6-speed manual gearbox is standard on the entry-level variant. In the American market, the 2019 Jetta will be offered in four trim levels - S, SE, SEL and SEL Premium. The carmaker will also add the R-Line trim to the carline. However, Volkswagen might not launch the new-gen Jetta in the Indian market. The existing model of the sedan is likely to be on sale until its CKD kits finish. Currently, the saloon is available with two turbocharged engines - 122bhp, 1.4L petrol and a 140bhp, 2.0L diesel - priced between Rs 15.86 lakh - Rs 20.8 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It's incredibly fun to drive. Though the engine could have been more refined and suspension a bit quieter but these are just minor niggles in an otherwise class leading package. Traditional Mercedes strengths of comfort and build quality remain at the core of C-Class. Like all Volvos, this car is as safe as a battle tank and comes loaded with tech. The engines are most powerful in the segment and efficient. If you compare cars purely on specifications in this segment the Volvo comes out on top. However it's a little cramped in the rear and just doesn't have the appeal of the German trio. Big on size, presence, value and luxury! The new Audi A6 is almost everything luxury car buyers in India could ask for. It comes with a class leading diesel motor that is powerful and incredibly refined. Interior appointments could embarrass a luxury suite and a comfortable ride.

The 5 series is BMW's softer, more level headed take on luxury cars. The 530d comes loaded with power if you looking to drive the car yourself. In case it's primarily chauffer driven 520d is an excellent choice. It is Mercedes best seller and is a prefect blend of old world charm and modern tech. It is not the quietest cabin around but the features and options list has grown quite substantially. With the new look it is now appealing to the younger buyers as well. The XF isn't the cheapest car in its segment but you get your money's worth. The XF looks like a sports car stuck in a saloons body and the performance complements the striking design. Overall, it's an accomplished alternative to the German trio. The car is a bit long in the tooth which is evident from its understated design. The interiors are top-notch and safety levels are outstanding, but the cabin does feel outdated.

Also ride and handling isn't the best. It scores well on the rear seat comfort has one of the airiest cabins around. These are the cars you want to be seen in. They are extremely expensive and there is no better way to tell the world you have arrived than one of these. This luxury barge comes loaded to the teeth with features. It is currently the benchmark in its segment. It's got reclining seats, a fantastic Bang & Olufsen sound system, cooled and heated seats with a massage function and the list goes on. BMW has made improvements in the places it was weak in and the most significant one is the eight speed gearbox. It has made the car very smooth. The cabin has also been worked upon as most car owners would want an equivalent of their lush office cabin even on their drive home. The S-Class is Merc's flagship. Loaded with more features than you can dream of, it is more a limo than a saloon. It features a vastly superior cabin and levels of comfort only seen in Rolls Royce or Bentley. Jaguar makes fast and beautiful cars and the XJ is a testament to that. It is a mix of striking design, breathtaking performance and crafty engineering. It is extremely comfortable and is pretty well equipped as well. There's a new top of the line Ultimate version as well, which comes with even more tech, like massaging bucket seats at the rear, a champagne chiller, two hi-res screens with wireless headphones and loads of other additions.
