Volkswagen Passat: Latest News, Reviews, Specifications, Prices, Photos And Videos

Volkswagen Passat: Latest News, Reviews, Specifications, Prices, Photos And Videos

Crossovers and SUVs might be the hot-ticket item these days, but sedans still hold an extremely important part in the automotive landscape. Mid-size sedans, especially, continue to post impressive sales numbers. Back for the 2011 model year, Volkswagen decided it needed a bigger slice of the American pie, so it introduced a version of its popular Passat build especially for the U.S. A refresh for 2016 brought sharpened body lines, a more chiseled face, and a slightly reworked interior. Now, a year later, the 2017 Passat soldiers on with nary a change. But, is this mid-size sedan got what it takes to rival the segment stalwarts, namely the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord? To find out, I recently spent three weeks behind the wheel of a Passat R-Line. What鈥檚 the R-Line, you ask? It boils down to a dolled-up version of the base Passat. It comes with larger wheels, a more up-scale front fascia, and the addition of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Better yet, the swankier trim doesn鈥檛 come with a massive price tag. 23,875. And thanks to its 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and FWD, it鈥檚 frugal at the pump, too, returning an EPA-estimated 34 mpg on the highway. Nevertheless, both the Camry and Accord are completely new for 2018 and will be stiff competition for this Tennessee-built car with German roots.

However, while the Opel Mokka X, Peugeot 2008, Renault Captur, Mazda CX-3, and the Toyota C-HR are significantly less powerful, the Nissan Juke and the Hyundai Kona come closer in the horsepower department. Seven years old as of 2018, the Nissan Juke is getting a little long in a tooth, and it was already replaced by the Kicks in North America. The funky-looking crossover continues unchanged in Europe, and although it鈥檚 not yet clear whether it will get to live into a new generation, the mini SUV remains popular in several markets. While its looks are definitely unique, the Juke lacks the premium-like interior it needs to compete against the T-Roc. It鈥檚 also inferior when it comes to output, with the 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine delivering n more than 188 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. On the flipside, the Juke is significantly more affordable, with the most expensive trim coming in at 拢21,495 before options. Read our full review of the 2018 Nissan Juke.

The Kona is a brand-new mini SUV that was launched in South Korea in 2017. Now available in Europe too, it鈥檚 based on the Hyundai i20, and it also shares underpinnings with the Kia Stonic. Also sporting a rather funky design compared to the Juke, it鈥檚 a better option against the T-Roc thanks to its modern interior and comprehensive tech package. However, much like the Juke, it doesn鈥檛 have a performance engine to tackle the GTI-spec VW. The most powerful unit is a turbocharged, 1.6-liter four-cylinder that delivers 175 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. Whether Hyundai鈥檚 N division will create a more powerful option remains unknown, but the Kona is a good option only if you鈥檙e not looking for more than 200 horsepower and a 0-to-62 mph sprint that takes less than seven seconds. The base Kona starts well below the 拢20,000 mark, but the Premium GT model retails from 拢26,810. Read our full story on the 2018 Hyundai Kona. The T-Roc GTI has been rumored for quite a few months now, but Volkswagen has yet to confirm it officially. Truth be told, the Germans don鈥檛 really need such a model, since there鈥檚 no competition to steal their market, but the T-Roc GTI would give them a unique position in this niche. I鈥檓 actually quite surprised that Volkswagen has yet to expand the GTI badge beyond the Golf and the Polo, but I鈥檓 pretty sure this will happen very soon. And the T-Roc is a very likely candidate as it鈥檚 smaller and lighter than all the other SUVs.

The Volkswagen GLI has always been fun. Lack of fun was never the issue. But it鈥檚 suffered from two problems, one long-running and one more recent. The first is that the more practical GTI hatchback exists, making the GLI a permanent also-ran. And the second is that, being a Jetta underneath, the last GLI rode on a dated, older platform when the rest of the VW world moved on to that sweet MQB goodness. Meet the all-new 2019 Jetta GLI, which has more power than ever and takes care of one of those issues. The new GLI was unveiled today at the Chicago Auto Show, which is somehow more newsier than the snoozefest that was the Detroit Auto Show in January. As with the new Jetta, which we rather like, the new GLI does in fact ride on the up-to-date MQB platform, arguably the best small car architecture in the world at present. With a bevy of tech, racier looks and 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque from the 2.0-liter turbo four, it sounds like a fun little sedan. You can鈥檛 go wrong either way!

Volkswagen GTI Test Drive Review, Specifications, 0-100, Top Speed, Images

Volkswagen GTI Test Drive Review, Specifications, 0-100, Top Speed, Images

Meet the new Volkswagen GTI. Basically, it鈥檚 a close relative of the Polo GTI that鈥檚 on sale abroad, but for us, VW India has thought it best to dissociate the Polo moniker from this car. In essence, however, the GTI is nothing but a 3-door Polo with a high-strung 1.8 L turbocharged petrol engine under its hood. So, what you get is a 1273 KGs car with about 190 HP on tap. Sounds like a delicious recipe, does not it? Last month, I spent a rather chilly morning behind the wheel of the hottest new hatch in the town. As we said, the GTI is based on the 3-door Polo hatchback, which means it鈥檚 almost instantly recognizable as the hot version of the standard Polo. Apart from that one obvious difference, there are a few other giveaways of this Polo鈥檚 performance credentials. There are LED headlamps along with a new front bumper.

And of course, you also get the GTI grille with the signature red stripe. At the back, there鈥檚 a sportier bumper with a dual tip exhaust. Unfortunately, the standard set of alloys are similar to the 16-inchers you get on the Polo GT. However, buyers can also opt for sportier 17-inch rims. Much like the exterior, even the interior is nearly identical to that of the vanilla Polo. Changes here include a new flat bottom steering with contrast red stitching and a GTI badge and sportier seats. Also, quite obviously, the rear seat space isn鈥檛 as generous, but space is just about enough for an average Indian adult. My time behind the wheel of the Volkswagen GTI was restricted to a just over half an hour. So, I won鈥檛 be able to tell you too much about the way this car drives and handles. However, what I can tell you with absolute certainty is that the Volkswagen GTI is fast and fun.

It will do the 0-100 KMPH sprint in 7.2 seconds and can hit a top whack of 233 KMPH. The beautifully weighted steering and the quick 7-speed DSG ensure you enjoy every single second you spend driving this thing. There are paddle shifters available and while you certainly won鈥檛 be as quick controlling gearshifts manually, they do offer more driver engagement, which ups the fun quotient. One department in which the Polo GTI exceeds expectations is ride quality. Being a European hot hatch, I did not expect it to be as kind to my spine as it turned out to be. VW has tweaked the suspension to suit Indian conditions and it is evident from the way the Volkswagen GTI rides over rough patches. In fact, Volkswagen seems to have hit the sweet spot with the GTI鈥檚 suspension setup. It is stiff enough to ensure there is barely any body roll whilst ensuring the occupants are ferried around in a reasonable amount of comfort.

Disc brakes all around keep hard braking from turning into a hair-raising experience. 215/45 16s offer sufficient grips at all times and contribute to the GTI鈥檚 impressive ride quality. The biggest trouble with the Volkswagen GTI is the asking price. Around 30 lakhs on road is a lot of money for what most people consider a souped up Polo. It isn鈥檛, by the way. It鈥檚 much more than that. Besides, let鈥檚 take a look at the alternatives. There鈥檚 the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, which is less powerful and slower. Then there鈥檚 the Mini Cooper S. It鈥檚 faster, but more expensive. Fiat Abarth 595 is almost as fast, but you鈥檒l have to contend with bone jarring ride quality and a wretched AMT. Plus, the look of bewilderment on people鈥檚 faces seeing a seemingly stock Polo scamper away like that once the light turns green as they sit there muttering expletives has to account for something, right? Oh, and lest we forget, there are only 99 GTIs up for sale in India so, you better hurry.

Tom Smith: Yeah. The screaming Hatchback. Tom Smith: You could call it the screaming Hatchback. So that鈥檚 the outside, now, let鈥檚 take it inside, which we鈥檝e already done as well, but talk specifics. Clinton Quan: It鈥檚 got really nice supportive seats. Tom Smith: And then the drive itself, the specifics, where did you go? Clinton Quan: I took the GTI SE up to Lake Arrowhead. Clinton Quan: -it鈥檚 a really fun car to drive on the winding roads. Tom Smith: It should be a theme in this podcast, it鈥檚 a really fun car drive. Clinton Quan: Yes. I mapped out the route, I wanted to take a route where I could really test out the suspension and the handling of the vehicle. And it did not disappoint. Tom Smith: It did not disappoint and mission accomplished the way that you mapped it out, it worked out just fine for you. Clinton Quan: It worked out just fine. Tom Smith: So, at the end of this test drive, the professor brings the vehicle back with a big grin ear to ear. Tom Smith: Okay. So anything else before we get to the top three?

Volkswagen Jetta: Latest News, Reviews, Specifications, Prices, Photos And Videos

The latest-generation Volkswagen Jetta was launched in 2010 and production for North America began the same year in Puebla, Mexico. Larger than its predecessor, the sixth-gen Jetta was relegated from the premium segment into the same market as the highly popular Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic. In order to keep costs down, Volkswagen removed the leather seats option and the multi-link suspension from the American model. Come 2018, and the German firm launched brand-new model that aims to move the Jetta closer to the premium market again. Unveiled at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show with the company鈥檚 recent corporate design, seen on the larger Passat and the Arteon sedans, the new Jetta is a significant departure from its predecessor in just about any department. Fresh and sleek on the outside, the four-door pack more technology than ever and Volkswagen claims that it鈥檚 loaded with premium features. It also rides on a new platform, switching to the flexible, all-popular MQB after two generations on PQ35 underpinnings. Let鈥檚 find out more about these changes in the review below.

2019 Volkswagen Jetta Price, Launch, Specifications, Features

Unlike the current generation that is based on the PQ35 platform, the seventh-generation Jetta uses Volkswagen鈥檚 Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB) platform. The new version also features bolder and a more spacious cabin along with a pack of new technology, thus making it more upmarket than the existing model. 18545 (around Rs 11.76 lakh). This makes it more affordable than the outgoing base model. Hinrich J. Woebcken, CEO, North American Region, Volkswagen said, 鈥淭he Jetta has long been Volkswagen鈥檚 best-selling vehicle in the United States and we expect that this all-new car will continue to resonate with buyers in the compact sedan class. The 2019 Volkswagen Jetta has witnessed significant dimensional changes. Sitting on 2,684mm of longer wheelbase, the sedan鈥檚 new model is longer, wider and taller than the current one. Though, the overhangs have been trimmed down. The grown proportions also result more cabin space for the front and rear seats occupants. Face of the car has been revised with large hexagonal grille, LED lighting, sharper lines and lots of chrome.

What add more to its premium looks are the fast sloping roof line, LED taillights and dual exhaust tips. Interior of the new VW Jetta is driver-oriented featuring a high-mounted infotainment system in the dashboard. The new trapezoidal design bits and top quality soft-touch materials add more to its premium feel and appeal. Volkswagen offers optional 10 colour wrap around ambient lighting on the sedan. The car gets newly designed door trim and seats with new fabric colours. The front seats of the sedan are heated and ventilated, and the driver鈥檚 seat is power adjustable and has memory function. The dual zone Climatronic automatic climate control enhances the comfort quotient of the car. Globally, the VW Jetta 2019 will continue to use the Volkswagen鈥檚 1.4-litre turbocharged TSI engine boosted with direct injection technology. This motor delivers a peak power of 144bhp against a class-leading torque of 249Nm. While an 8-speed automatic transmission comes as standard on the higher trim, it鈥檚 optional on the base model. Interestingly, the Start/Stop system has been reserved for the automatic variants. A new 6-speed manual gearbox is standard on the entry-level variant. In the American market, the 2019 Jetta will be offered in four trim levels - S, SE, SEL and SEL Premium. The carmaker will also add the R-Line trim to the carline. However, Volkswagen might not launch the new-gen Jetta in the Indian market. The existing model of the sedan is likely to be on sale until its CKD kits finish. Currently, the saloon is available with two turbocharged engines - 122bhp, 1.4L petrol and a 140bhp, 2.0L diesel - priced between Rs 15.86 lakh - Rs 20.8 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It's incredibly fun to drive. Though the engine could have been more refined and suspension a bit quieter but these are just minor niggles in an otherwise class leading package. Traditional Mercedes strengths of comfort and build quality remain at the core of C-Class. Like all Volvos, this car is as safe as a battle tank and comes loaded with tech. The engines are most powerful in the segment and efficient. If you compare cars purely on specifications in this segment the Volvo comes out on top. However it's a little cramped in the rear and just doesn't have the appeal of the German trio. Big on size, presence, value and luxury! The new Audi A6 is almost everything luxury car buyers in India could ask for. It comes with a class leading diesel motor that is powerful and incredibly refined. Interior appointments could embarrass a luxury suite and a comfortable ride.

The 5 series is BMW's softer, more level headed take on luxury cars. The 530d comes loaded with power if you looking to drive the car yourself. In case it's primarily chauffer driven 520d is an excellent choice. It is Mercedes best seller and is a prefect blend of old world charm and modern tech. It is not the quietest cabin around but the features and options list has grown quite substantially. With the new look it is now appealing to the younger buyers as well. The XF isn't the cheapest car in its segment but you get your money's worth. The XF looks like a sports car stuck in a saloons body and the performance complements the striking design. Overall, it's an accomplished alternative to the German trio. The car is a bit long in the tooth which is evident from its understated design. The interiors are top-notch and safety levels are outstanding, but the cabin does feel outdated.

Also ride and handling isn't the best. It scores well on the rear seat comfort has one of the airiest cabins around. These are the cars you want to be seen in. They are extremely expensive and there is no better way to tell the world you have arrived than one of these. This luxury barge comes loaded to the teeth with features. It is currently the benchmark in its segment. It's got reclining seats, a fantastic Bang & Olufsen sound system, cooled and heated seats with a massage function and the list goes on. BMW has made improvements in the places it was weak in and the most significant one is the eight speed gearbox. It has made the car very smooth. The cabin has also been worked upon as most car owners would want an equivalent of their lush office cabin even on their drive home. The S-Class is Merc's flagship. Loaded with more features than you can dream of, it is more a limo than a saloon. It features a vastly superior cabin and levels of comfort only seen in Rolls Royce or Bentley. Jaguar makes fast and beautiful cars and the XJ is a testament to that. It is a mix of striking design, breathtaking performance and crafty engineering. It is extremely comfortable and is pretty well equipped as well. There's a new top of the line Ultimate version as well, which comes with even more tech, like massaging bucket seats at the rear, a champagne chiller, two hi-res screens with wireless headphones and loads of other additions.

The Volkswagen Jetta has long been one of the most fuel efficient cars sold in America. While gas mileage figures for the conventionally powered compact Jetta are good, diesel-powered Jettas are remarkably efficient by American standards. Unfortunately, Volkswagen paused the importation of the diesel Jetta TDI to the States with the 2006 model year, in order to make changes to meet the more stringent emissions laws. Although Volkswagen planned to reintroduce their revamped turbo diesel to the North America market for the 2008 model year, production delays pushed the Jetta SportWagen TDI and Jetta TDI back to the 2009 model year. The pause in importation only caused the resale market for Jetta TDIs to become even more rabid. As with all used diesel-powered VWs, the fuel-efficency and longevity of the TDI engine commands a premium at resale, even with high mileage cars. We spent a week road testing a 2009 Jetta TDI and found the car to be well worth the wait. Note: the EPA tweaked their testing procedure, starting with the 2008 model year, with the end result being that the 2008 MPG estimates are now lower than previous years.

Volkswagen is a company that has been around for a very long time, and has been known for their solid, reliable vehicles. Although a majority of consumers are most familiar with the Volkswagen Beetle, the company has a huge line of well-reviewed vehicles that have been gaining momentum and popularity rapidly in recent years. Other Volkswagen vehicles that I came across when looking for a Boston Volkswagen dealership. The Volkswagen Golf has become a favorite among many Volkswagen enthusiasts in recent years. As a luxury vehicle, the car is perfect for those that are looking for class in their car, and provides a smooth ride. The Golf has been well reviewed and is known for being durable while having very few problems while low in mileage. The Golf has received numerous awards and continues to be one of the more popular cars that the company has to offer. As their most popular vehicle by a wide margin, the Volkswagen Beetle carries a certain nostalgia with it that their other vehicles are not able to recreate.

Although it was out of production for a very long time, bringing the car back nearly a decade ago was a huge hit for Volkswagen, and helped them to greatly increase their sales. The Beetle has a rounded top, and can seat as many as four people, although typically only two people sit so comfortably. The Beetle comes in a variety of very bright colors, which match its bubbly design. The Jetta has become a very popular family car, which has continued to rise in popularity since its release. 15,000, the Jetta is an extremely affordable car that has been praised for its excellent gas mileage and solid track record of performance. Although it is not the flashiest car that they have in their line up, it still has a sleek design that makes it an optimal choice for for families who have kids to drive around and groceries to haul. The Passat is generally seen as the next step up from the Jetta, but there are a number of differences and similarities that could make it a more advantageous choice for consumers. Both are comfortably roomy, and easy to drive.

U.S. News & World Report

2018 Hyundai Kona CUV FIRST DRIVE REVIEW (2 of 2) - 동영상The 2017 Volkswagen Touareg’s interior is certainly classier than what you’ll find in the rest of the VW lineup. With woodgrain trim, metal finishes, and an array of high-grade materials, the Touareg’s interior exudes quality. Critics disagree over whether the attention to detail is similar to what you’ll find in similarly priced SUVs from automakers like BMW, Audi, or Mercedes-Benz. Some say the Touareg’s interior doesn’t quite match the level of refinement, while others say it earns its luxury designation. Regardless, the Touareg provides comfortable and supportive seating. Sliding and reclining seatbacks add versatility and long-ride comfort. The Touareg’s already long list of standard features gets even longer for 2017. Cargo space is about average for the class, but small-item storage is impressive. The 2017 Touareg seats five. The base model comes with leatherette upholstery, heated and eight-way power-adjustable front seats, and a heated steering wheel. Upper trims come with 14-way power-adjustable front seats, heated rear seats, and memory settings for the driver’s seat and sideview mirrors.

The front seats provide ergonomic comfort and support. In fact, according to test drivers, any seat in the Touareg would be great for a long road trip or highway commute. Rear-seat space is on par or better than many luxury midsize SUVs, and they recline and slide, allowing passengers the ability to get a little more comfortable. For the 2017 Touareg, Volkswagen added quite a few new items to the standard features list. Optional features include a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree parking camera, and a Dynaudio 10-speaker premium audio system. The 8-inch touch-screen display is newly standard for 2017, and it is easy to read and use, with sharp graphics and prompt responses to user inputs. Both audio and climate controls are intuitively organized and straightforward. The 2017 Touareg’s cargo capacity is about average for the class. Its 32.1-cubic-foot cargo hold expands to 64 cubic feet once you collapse the 60/40 split-folding rear seats. The rear seats don’t fold completely flat, but the Touareg’s boxlike roofline makes the available space more usable. With the standard setup, you’ll get a remote power liftgate with a hands-free opening function. Wolfsburg models come with an electric rear-seat release in the cargo area that lets you fold down the back seats with the touch of a button. The Touareg’s glove box and large center console and door pockets help maximize small-item storage space. Behind the Tiguan's rear seats, there's 32.1 cubic feet of cargo space. Fold the second row flat and you get 64 cubic feet of space.

In profile, the New Insignia range’s Hatch and Saloon models are better defined through their unique tailgates and rear spoilers. The crease line on the C-pillar of the Hatch fades out before it reaches the spoiler’s trailing edge, giving it a classic coupe silhouette. On the Saloon, the crease line continues along the edge of the spoiler to emphasise the body’s length. At the rear, the New Insignia range models appear wider and lower. The high-gloss chrome logo bar has been positioned lower on the tailgate. It extends into the tail-lights and incorporates the slim-look reversing lamps. The tail and stop functions of the two-piece tail-lights are illuminated by LEDs throughout the range. The Sports Tourer’s rear styling embodies a similar wider and lower appearance. The main visual enablers are again the stretched chrome brand bar, also framing the reverse functions, and an uninterrupted body-coloured division between the tailgate glass and the longer, slimmer light units.

The rear bumper moldings for all models also incorporate several black ‘cut-out’ inserts according to the powertrain choice, with or without visible exhaust tailpipes. The New Insignia range offers a raft of technology, safety and comfort highlights. These include state-of-the-art radar and camera-based assistance systems (including adaptive cruise control and second-generation park assist), premium seats, and ‘Open & Start’, the keyless entry and start system, to name just a few. Two new exterior colours - Emerald Green and Aurum Green - join the existing 10 colour choices. Vauxhall’s new Insignia is not only the lowest CO2 emitting car in its sector but now also the most streamlined vehicle in the world in its class. Thanks to clever changes to the body design of the new Insignia, Vauxhall’s engineers have reduced the vehicle’s drag coefficient to under 0.25 for the Insignia hatchback and 0.28 for the Sports Tourer. New extended underbody covers, wider front spoiler lips, tail lamp housings designed to enhance airflow separation and an integrated rear deck lid spoiler contribute to the new Insignia’s slippery shape. Insignia 2.0 CDTi ecoFLEX (120/140PS) models with Start/Stop also feature an additional, ultra-modern aerodynamic element: an active front air shutter.

Can This Cause It To Not Start?

To get 200 hp would cost thousands. The stock 60 hp of a dual port 1600 will get you up to 80 and cruise all day at 70 mph. You will get over 30 mpg, and it will last for over a decade, if you don't abuse it. Have you tried simply having a mechanic check your idle speed? It might just be set too low. It can fall out of adjustment over time. If so, the you might simply have a bad wire. But the throttle body is also likely. The PVC throws up oil and water foam, and it collects on the throttle body. The throttle body works by being heated and checking how cool the air has made it, so any insulator, like water and oil foam, totally screws it up. Take it off first before spraying it clean, so that you don't get carb cleaner solvents down the engine.

Open the air circuit from inlet to turbo and clean thoroughly. Particularly the air filter. Check the fuel circuit, particularly the fuel filter. Set both circuits and keep the idle at around 1000 rpm max. You already hit on one possible cause. Check all vacuum pipes for splits as well as all other hoses and connections, something is upsetting the balance. Listen to your friend about the vacuum leak. Just start replacing them 1 at a Time! Is the gear box in the Porsche 914 and the old Volkswagen Bug interchangeable? The 914 was a VW Type 4 engine. In the Type 4, it hung out the rear and in the 914, it was spun 180° so the mass of the engine was in the middle. I'll watch this discussion with interest.

Picture Taker is correct that the Porsche 914 transaxle is not at all like the old VW bug transaxle, even though they have the same bolt pattern and input shaft. Since the 914 was a mid engine car instead of the engine hanging out the back like a VW, the differential has to turn the opposite direction. The shift linkage also comes in from the side on a 914 instead of from the front like a VW. Even the output CV joint flanges are slightly larger on the 914, since it used the CV joints from the Van instead of the bug. That stuff would required major cutting and welding to mount a 914 drive train. Starting problems with VW 1600 dual port motor? I have a bug with a 1600 dual port motor (engine code is AH), and it cranks, but won't start. I've double checked all the electrical, made sure it gets fuel, and checked the spark, and everything seems right.

The only thing that doesn't seem quite right is that it cranks very slowly, even with a fully charged battery. Can this cause it to not start? And would the slow crank be the starter going out, or a different problem? There seems to be a problem if it is cranking slowly. It may be a starter motor issue and that is "sapping" power that should go to your HT circuit to fire the spark plugs. You could try a "slave" car/Battery and jump leads to see if that gets things going. 2 terminals together on the starter to see if that spins it fast enough. 3) You need to do a starter draw test. First make sure it is not binding, by turning it with a wrench on the alternator. Then put a voltmeter across the battery. It should read 12.5 at rest. Then try to crank it. It it drops below 10 or so, there is a problem. If when you stop cranking it comes back to 12.5, it is excessive starter draw.

You could try the starter bushing and clean the commutator. If it does not come back up to 12.5, it is the battery. If it does not drop below 11, it is a bad engine ground strap or dirty terminals. I always could just replace the battery and it would run, now it cranks but wont turn over. It is probably a fuel problem, but it could also be spark. To easily test, try spraying lots of starting fluid down the air intake. If it fires at all, then there is spark. It could just be the relay is bad from sitting. If it's been sitting for 2 years it may well be bad gas is the problem, stuff is highly volatile and evaporates over time. What you're left with in a lot of cases is varnish and deposits throughout the fuel system. If it's fuel injected you may need to pull the injectors and have them cleaned. If it's carburated you may have to get the carb rebuilt. If it fires up with the starting fluid you'll have your answer. If you can add some "fresh" fuel to the tank, as much as you can get in there to dilute the old gas that may help. I'd also check and make sure you're getting spark, and check ALL the wiring, It's not impossible some "critters" got up under the hood and decided to make a home for themselves. They like to chew on wiring. Check the entire air intake as well for nests. It's a favorite place for them to settle in to your engine.

No failures have been reported within the United States, however VW stated failures have been reported in some overseas markets the corporate is issuing a worldwide recall to address the problem. VW will notify homeowners subsequent month and will substitute the synthetic gearbox oil with a new mineral-based mostly oil. The issue occurs when the engine is in idle and the air conditioning is turned on, the software may not control engine idle. In consequence, the engine may surge unexpectedly. May 2008 -- Volkswagen is recalling 4,000 MY 2008 Passat sedans and wagons and MY 2009 Tiguan passenger autos outfitted with 2.0T FSI ULEV II engines. These automobiles have an engine management module (ECM) containing software that may not properly control engine idle with the air conditioning turned on.
