2019 Volkswagen Jetta

A new engine option was among the upgrades made to the Volkswagen Jetta for the 2000 model year. The 1.8T, which was available as an add-on to the four-door Jetta GLS trim package, was a turbocharged 1.8-liter, 4-cylinder powerplant that generated 150 horsepower. Standard equipment for the GL and GL TDI included air conditioning, anti-lock brakes, power door locks, dual airbags, tilt steering, and an AM/FM/cassette audio system. The GLS packages added cruise control (also standard on the GL TDI) and power windows, while the GLX V6 added leather seats and a sunroof. Drivers gave positive marks to the Jetta's handling, acceleration, value, safety features, braking, and reliability, though some noted that the car's fuel economy wasn't as good as its competitors'. Some drivers noted problems with the car's "fit and finish," such as its exterior trim and interior plastic parts. Cup holders were noted by several drivers as being less than durable.

Remove the sensor and inspect for sensor mechanical damage/failure. 7. Once the G235 fault has been repaired, clear all trouble codes and test drive the vehicle to verify that no codes return. 8. If the 18895/P2463/009315 - Diesel Particle Filter: Excessive Soot Accumulation code returns, see the Tech Tips section for checking DPF soot loading. Tech Tips: Note: Diesel particulate filter soot load can be observed using a full function Volkswagen Compatible scan tool. Select Measured Data Block and then Display Group 108 (Note: if display group 108 does not contain data try display group 241 as an alternate). Field 2 displays the calculated DPF soot load and Field 3 displays the measured soot load of the DPF in grams. If either the calculated or measured soot mass is above 30g but below 40g you can initiate a regeneration while standing (idle will be raised etc.), a forced regeneration while driving is also possible. Once the values are above 40g (but below the max 45g) the regeneration while standing is no longer available and the regeneration while driving must be performed. If the particle filter load is above specification (45 grams) the particle filter needs to be replaced since the car may burn down when regenerating.

LOS ANGELES (AP) 鈥?California regulators on Tuesday rejected Volkswagen's recall plan for some of the German automaker's most popular diesel models that used software to intentionally deceive government emissions tests, including the Beetle, Jetta, Golf and Passat. The rejection doesn't rule out an eventual recall plan for owners of the 75,688 affected 2.0-liter diesel cars in California. FILE - In this Sept. 30, 2015, file photo, John Swanton, spokesman with the California Air Resources Board, explains how a 2013 Volkswagen Passat with a diesel engine is evaluated at the emissions test lab in El Monte, Calif. California air quality regulators, on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, rejected Volkswagen's recall plan to fix vehicles including the Beetle and Jetta that were programmed to trick government emissions tests. The action also leaves the possibility of a buyback for VW owners. Annette Herbert, head of the agency's emissions compliance, automotive regulations and science division wrote in a letter to VW executives.

The state agency also issued a separate formal notice against the German automaker, alleging it had violated the state's clean air regulations 鈥?a finding will likely mean fines for VW. The state agency is working to quantify the damage done by the excess nitrous oxide and particulates spewed into the air, said David Clegern, an agency spokesman. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, which is also investigating VW, issued a statement saying it agreed with California regulators but was operating on a different timetable. The rejection only applies to 2.0-liter diesel engines registered in California. A recall plan for 3.0-liter diesel engines, including some sold under the VW-owned Audi and Porsche brands, is due next month. In a statement, VW said it was continuing to work with both state and federal regulators and the rejection of its recall plan Tuesday did not mean a recall would not occur. The development is not necessarily a major setback for VW, said Karl Brauer, a senior analyst with Kelley Blue Book.
