With the roof rack ,we load up our bikes and kayaks and head for the mountains or the beach. We get abt. 32 MPG and have plenty of power . The Jetta features disc brakes front and rear, something competitors dont offer. Germany for the Autobahn (they still have unlimited speeds there). It must pass rigorous safety standards. We have driven the Silver Jetta for 75,000 reliable miles. It has never let us down. The only "Con" we can think of is that we wish it only had 30k on it ! We think the Jetta would make a fantastic car for you. It has good mileage, thats all I know. Civic or Corolla cheaper in the long run, but lacks the visual appeal.
