Volkswagen Design Vision GTI Concept 2019

Volkswagen Design Vision GTI Concept 2019

Volkswagen has unveiled the Design Vision GTI concept car, a racing version of the Volkswagen Golf GTI, at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The hot hatchback has been projected into the same league as some of the world's most celebrated supercars. Volkswagen drew the C-pillars and sills outward as autonomous body elements, thus creating space for substantially wider front and rear tracks. The radiator grille, the bottom air intake, and the brake cooling vents are combined with the headlights and framed by the front fenders and the hood. It gets specially developed 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels. The "Design Vision GTI" looks radical because it's shorter, wider, and lower than a regular GTI. The "Design Vision GTI" applies a radical version of "reduced design". This means as few switches as necessary, so that they can be operated intuitively even while driving hard. The steering wheel is equipped with ergonomically optimized DSG paddle shifters, drive mode selector, and a start/stop switch, for example. It is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine producing 503 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque. All this power and torque is distributed to the wheels via a DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system. The GTI rockets from 0-62 mph in 3.9 seconds enough to match a Lamborghini Gallardo, with a top speed of 186 mph.

There are a lot more scattered around the country as well. My son recently picked up another couple of bugs. One had a great engine, but not so great body. The other had a great body, but no engine. He took the motor out of one and put it in the other, which left the other one just a large ornament in our garage, so we had to figure out what to do with it. We decided to do some upgrades on my son鈥檚 original Beetle and offered the dead one to the mechanic. Since it still had a good transmission he took it off our hands in exchange for some of our costs. That鈥檚 another nice thing about bugs. Did you know there are mechanics that work on nothing but vintage Volkswagens? Of course, many people have the space and time to work on their own Beetles. My son does do some of the work on his as well, however, our homeowner's association frowns on such things and we just do not have enough space for major repairs or restoring.

Working on one鈥檚 own vehicle is part of the charm of these little cars and the fact that you can lift the engine out without special equipment is especially handy too. When we have been at car shows you really see how a bug makes people feel. The car brings back memories for people. I do not know how many people have stopped at a show to tell us stories of when they had their own bug or what they did with a friend in theirs. It is so fun to listen to them and see the happiness just looking at a car can bring. Another awesome thing that has happened to my son over the years is that he has received vintage bugs as gifts. Because people see his enthusiasm for them and how much he cares for them once he gets them. They want to give him the bug that has been sitting around gathering dust, or that they have lost interest in working on. They know he will transform them for himself or get a new owner who will love them. There is no such thing as a completely junk bug in our world. Our family holds a special place in our hearts for our bugs and that is not likely to end any time soon. Comments are not for promoting your articles or other sites.

That makes it one of very few ostensibly sporty compacts with such a high safety award. The GTI earned its award by getting the highest "Good" rating in all of its crash tests except the passenger small-overlap test. In that test, the GTI scored the second-highest "Acceptable" rating. The GTI's available automatic emergency braking system also earned top marks for preventing a crash at speeds up to 25 mph. The GTI's available LED headlights also were rated as "Acceptable," which was enough for Top Safety Pick. Worth noting is the fact that only the available LED headlights earned an "Acceptable" rating. The base S trim level's headlights were rated "Poor." Also, the automatic emergency braking system is standard on all but the S trim, in which it's an option. Interestingly, the GTI is the only Golf tested by the IIHS to get the Top Safety Pick, due to poor headlight performance on other models. We would expect the Golf R to get the same rating as the GTI, but it doesn't appear to have been tested by the IIHS yet.

New Volkswagen Polo GTI is an award winning sports coupe. On first appearances it does not resemble a sports car but upon further inspection it is definitely something that will haul. The car lives up to its German name in its construction and durability. This car has some unique features for a car of this size. For one thing it has a six speed transmission with a clutch on the floor or a tap clutch on the steering column. Either one allows the car to go from zero to sixty with relative ease and speed. The comfort of the interior is surprising for a sporty coupe with wrap around seats. The cockpit surrounding makes it easy to reach for things in and around the dashboard. The steering column has a telescoping design for added comfort and convenience. Several features are alluring including the built in Navigation system, i-pod plug in, travel modes and awesome stereo system.
