Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross Sweeps Memphis Season Opener

Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross Sweeps Memphis Season Opener

Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross drivers Scott Speed and Tanner Foust earn a 1-2 finish at the 2017 Red Bull Global Rallycross season opener in Memphis. Herndon, VA 鈥?Looking every bit the champions that they are, Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross returned to the season-opening round of the 2017 Red Bull Global Rallycross championship in fine form, claiming a 1-2 finish in Saturday鈥檚 Final. Scott Speed led teammate Tanner Foust across the line, earning his 13th career win to take the early lead in the 2017 championship battle. Speed started the season off strong with a commanding performance in qualifying, putting his Beetle GRC on pole position. The reigning double-champion followed up his qualifying run by completing a nearly perfect weekend, earning wins in two Heats, his Semifinal, and the Final race. The only hiccup from the driver of the No. 41 Oberto Circle K Beetle GRC came in Heat 3B in which a slow start allowed rivals to jump him to the lead of the race, forcing him to finish third.

Still, Speed was in prime position for the start of the Final, and despite an early red flag and race restart, he walked away from Memphis with his first win of the season. 鈥淗aving an almost perfect weekend like this is obviously a great way to start the season,鈥?said Speed. 鈥淥ur whole time here was really smooth, and that doesn鈥檛 just happen by accident. Foust was also quick on the 1.18-mile Memphis International Raceway circuit. The No. 34 Rockstar Energy Drink Beetle GRC driver set the second-quickest qualifying time behind his teammate, setting up a difficult road through the rest of the weekend for the two-time series champion. That victory allowed Foust to start Semifinal B from the front, propelling him to victory in that race and a second-place grid position in the Final. Foust made it close for his teammate, but was unable to pass, earning yet another podium in his storied rallycross career. 鈥淚鈥檓 super excited for the whole team with a result like this,鈥?said Foust. 鈥淎fter qualifying in second, and with Scott putting in some amazing Heats, you just have to grab onto those heels and hang on. The reigning champions leave Memphis with the championship lead, giving their drivers a foot up on their rivals for the rest of the 2017 season. Hard work from the team during the offseason bore fruit in Memphis and Speed is hoping to enjoy a similar advantage for the rest of the year. 鈥淭he whole team just worked this offseason. We put in the work, and when we wanted to stop we worked some more,鈥?he said after the race.

But the Honda takes things to another level with its outlandish wheelarches, racy bodykit and massive wing. It makes the Ford look toned down when you put the two together like this. Each of these hot hatches offers ballistic straight-line performance, but they鈥檙e also fantastic at scrubbing off speed. The Ford鈥檚 brakes are very strong and inspire confidence, but the Honda鈥檚 seem even sharper and the pedal gives plenty of feel. Both the RS (Rallye Sport) and Type R brands have heritage and loyal UK fans. Type Rs arrived in the nineties, and fast Fords have used the RS badge since the seventies. They now mark the top of each brand鈥檚 performance ranges. The Honda Civic Type R is the new hot-hatch king. A clever new chassis set-up means it鈥檚 more fun than ever without being too stiff for use on the road. Meanwhile, the strong in-gear performance feels more usable than before, and the car delivers sweet steering, slick shifts and incredible grip.

It鈥檚 also really spacious and feels more up to date than the Focus RS. The 4WD Focus RS offers something a bit different from the Honda, so there鈥檚 no shame in coming second. It鈥檚 still a bargain considering the huge performance on offer, and it鈥檚 nearly as accomplished as the Civic in terms of handling. The Ford falls behind a little on ride and in-car tech, but you can鈥檛 go wrong with either of these amazing hot hatches. The VW Golf R is still one of our favourite hot hatches, and thanks to its powerful turbo and 4WD, it鈥檚 nearly as fun to drive as our rivals here. It鈥檚 also more practical than either and easier to live with - just not as exciting. It has the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder and 4WD combination as the Focus and Golf, but the A 45 is much more powerful. Performance is incredible and the cabin feels upmarket, but it鈥檚 not as involving as its rivals and costs quite a bit more.

Why is that better? They still had the display model, and I asked if I could buy that. 450. The store manager said she would need to determine if the camera was provided by Nikon, or if Best Buy owned it and could sell it to me. In the mean time, I continued my research. The product reviews showed that the Canon EOS Rebel T3i was superior in almost every way to the Nikon D3100. 550, and it was not a display model. 450 and included free shipping. The manager from Best Buy called to let me know that I could buy the Nikon D3100 display model, but I didn't even bargain. I had already ordered the Canon T3i. There are great deals on used digital SLR cameras 5 to 8 years old on eBay and Craigslist. 0 of 8192 characters usedPost CommentNo HTML is allowed in comments, but URLs will be hyperlinked.
