Volkswagen Trucks And Bus Presents The Electric E-Delivery In Germany

The Volkswagen Trucks and Buses comes out in front again. E-Delivery, the first 100% electric light truck developed in Brazil, tailored for severe applications in emerging countries, is presented in Hamburg, Germany, during the Innovation Day, an event promoted by the Volkswagen Truck & Bus holding company. The power train is equipped with the new WEG AL160 electric motor, delivering 80 kW (109 hp) of power, with maximum torque of 493 Nm and Allison automatic transmission. Developed in partnership with Eletra exclusively for traction of commercial vehicles, it also has lithium-ion battery banks LiFePO4 and an range of up to 200 kilometres, according to the application and configuration of the vehicle. The e-Delivery will be available on 9 and 11 ton models as per customer's requirement. Roberto Cortes, president and CEO of MAN Latin America. All this with zero emission and extremely low noise level, improving comfort in urban freight transport. In the plug-in concept, the vehicle's batteries are recharged by a standard external CCS charger. Its operation is quite simple and widespread in the electrical industry.

The e-Delivery also has a brake with three stages of regeneration, which can be adjusted according to the load condition or preference of the driver. The regenerative brake acts before the pneumatic brake, to decelerate the vehicle, recovering up to 30% of energy during braking and using it to recharge the batteries. The vehicle also has Eco-Drive Mode, which reduces battery consumption depending on the load condition of the vehicle, adjusting the current demand of the batteries according to the operating condition of the vehicle. In addition to the longer charge life, this translates into longer battery and brake system life. All information on energy regeneration is available on the dashboard, which just as the internal design follows the worldwide standard of the Volkswagen Group's electric vehicle line. Every detail of this design was thought to deliver superior performance to the market's solutions. The engine configuration offers maximum torque even at low engine speeds to optimize urban operations. And its robust powertrain is set up for starting ramps of up to 25% and up to 30% ramps without any difficulty. Auxiliary systems, such as air compressor, air conditioning, steering pump and water pump are in charge of independent electric motors to the traction, optimizing the traction capacity of the main engine. Shafts, suspension, chassis, wheels and tires follow the traditional characteristics and robustness of the new Delivery line, sharing common components with the platform. With the new e-Delivery, MAN Latin America delivers a unique product in its segment, developed with 100% Brazilian engineering, with dimensions appropriate to the VUC operation, ideal for large urban centers. The vehicle comes on the market to meet the green logistics, zero emissions and traffic in low noise locations.

The considerable track width (more than 1.55 meters) doesn't just look good; it rather adds to the agility and road handling. The result is a fun driving experience, whether the top is up or down. Interior: The interior was also newly designed. While the details for function and use (e.g. lights, air conditioning; radio systems) are familiar from other models, many of the Eos elements were newly developed. These include the cockpit, door and side cover as well as the rear seats and an air conditioning automatic specifically designed for a convertible. For the first time Volkswagen optionally features electrically activated easy-entry-seats: they 'remember' the driver's and front passenger's longitudinal seating position and return to it - just by pushing a button - after the rear passengers have gotten in or out. A lordosis support is also integrated into this electric 12-way seat adjustment system. Trunk: With an open roof the available space is 205 liters, when closed the volume increases to 380 liters. For the last few millimeters the lid of the trunk closes via a power latching system as a standard feature. In addition there is a service hatch which is integrated into the rear seat bench. Equipment: The Eos reaches the market exclusively equipped with high quality components. It goes without saying that a retractable roll bar system is pushed out in a maximum of 0.25 seconds in a critical driving situation providing extra safety.

The A5 offers an athletic and graceful design, with a low stance, dramatic body lines, and a wide grille flanked by xenon headlights and LED daytime-running lights. New 18- and 20-inch wheel designs are available this year, and the newly available Black Optic package adds black mirror housings, black side-sill blades, and black rear lip spoiler. The A5 boasts 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque from a 2.0-liter TFSI 4-cylinder engine, which comes matched to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission. All-wheel drive (AWD), courtesy of Audi鈥檚 Quattro system, comes standard. Models equipped with the automatic transmission are EPA-rated for 23 mpg city, 34 highway, and 27 combined. The A5鈥檚 three trim levels include Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige. Inside, standard features include 8-way power front seats, a multifunction steering wheel with paddle shifters, LED ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof. For 2019, the virtual cockpit with customizable display becomes standard. The Premium Plus and Prestige trims add heated front seats and a hands-free trunk, while the Black Optic package adds a sport steering wheel, piano black trim, and blue contrast stitching. Options include a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, and front sport seats.

This year, Audi makes the upgraded version of its MMI infotainment system standard in all A5 trims. This system features an 8.3-inch display, a touchpad with handwriting recognition, voice recognition, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and navigation. A 10-speaker audio system also comes standard. Upgrades include a 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system, satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and the Audi Connect telematics system with services such as automatic crash notification and stolen-vehicle tracking. The A5 also includes a ton of high-tech safety equipment. Audi Pre-Sense Basic, which preps the vehicle and its occupants for an imminent collision, and Pre-Sense City, which includes pedestrian detection, both come standard. Options include rear cross-traffic assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic-sign recognition, a head-up display (HUD), active lane assist, and park assist. The 2018 Audi A5 Coupe was both awarded a 2017 Top Safety Pick designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The Audi A5 is one of the most well-rounded midsize luxury cars on the market, competing against the BMW 2 Series and newer options like the Genesis G70. If the A5 has a significant drawback, it simply could be that there are too many good choices.
