Looking for Volkswagen Jetta's German Engineering? I've heard Many people saying some VW's are made in Mexico and there's a lot of problems! I'm planning on buying a VW Jetta but I don't know from what year to what year they Stop making the Mexican Versions I don't want this disease "Made in Mexico". Because I want a German car I can count on during the Canadian Winter. German engineering ain't all it's cracked up to be. Volkswagen builds stuff in a lot of countries, and the products from Mexico aren't that great. Even Porsche and Mercedes get their parts from China. My aunt has a 2002 VW jetta and loves it. It was made in Germany also. It gets good gas mileage too. I'm sure if you buy one you won't have any problems. She lives in Michigan and they get a bad winter as well. Well most of the car is built right here in Chattanooga Tennessee, What you have heard is right though, the plant they have in Puebla Mexico makes the inline 5 cyl engine for the car and thats about it.

It sounds to me that the best you could use in a ""tired motor"" that only has 51K and a very small engine is now the use of 30weight oil. Always use what the owners manual tells you, eg the weight and mineral or synthetic always use what is stated in the manual. Car manufactures spend millions of dollars on what oil is best for the engines they build, some 18 year old from an auto store doesnt even know the differance between oils. It seems your current oil has too low density in high temperatures. It depends how you drive it and where you drive it, but it seems that you need something that will perform better in high temperature. 10W40 which is a very, very decent oil. Get the designed logo from any of the designer shop. Not too much difficult task.

I got my Golf MK2 GTI 8v up to 190Km/hr, is it good? I have a golf 1987 MK2 GTI 8v and got it up to 190Km/hr (120MPH) on the highway, is that good? I'm asking about the car's performance and not trying to show how big my balls are. It's an old car, and people say that MK2 GTI 8V have very low top speed. And I needed to get opinions to see if I should have gotten a 16V instead. Compared to aircraft, it's ridiculously slow. Compared to the speed limit, it's completely illegal, and irresponsible. So what, exactly, are you proud of? That you can hit a gas pedal really hard? Way to be a "renegade". Old VW were air cooled. VW started making water cooled cars in 1973 in the US, but had been making them in Brazil many years before that. But they never stopped all the air cooled cars either. Air cooled cars are much lighter, durable, easy to maintain, and inexpensive, but tend to produce more NOx than we allow in the US. The first water cooled VW in the US was the 1973 Dasher, not the 74 Rabbit. The Dasher is not really the same as a Passat since there is a gap. You are correct the Bug ended manufacture in Mexico in 2003, but China licensed the Thing not the Bug and still makes it. Then in 1974 VW came out with their replacement for the Beetle- Rabbit or Golf. Along with that was the Scirocco and the Dasher (Passat) these are/were water cooled. However, from 1949- 1984- the Bus (Type II) or Vanagon (last name before Eurovan) it was air cooled then it became watercooled (wasserboxer). In addition, there was the Type III (Fastback, Station Wagon or Variant, and the notchback) all of which were air cooled.

Then there was the Karmann Ghia (air cooled) and the 411 and 412 both air cooled. The beetle has ceased production and was never produced in China. Cans of fuel additive to clean the injectors, then using only Chevron premium since has made that go away. Another was the day after a service when the light came on and they read the computer output to me - something about "Mass air flow indicator". I think they broke something but it was about the same age others have had that problem. That was a couple hundred. The worst was after my sunroof drain plugged during a rainy week, and I didn't notice the water on the passenger side of the floor. Under that floor is the electronics for the automatic transmission. That was fifteen hundred dollars. A towel on the floor would have saved some big bucks there. The warning light started coming on about 4 days before the transmission started acting up. My blunder not taking the car to the dealer right away when the light came on. My experiences say if the light comes on, take it in.
