Volkswagen Touareg Joins Spine-Chilling Universal Ride

Text from Volkswagen of America. AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - As part of a new cooperative marketing agreement with Universal Studios, Volkswagen has tied itself to the psychological thrill ride “Revenge of the Mummy” at Universal Studios’ Hollywood and Universal Orlando theme parks. A Volkswagen Touareg wrapped in mummy-like cloth greets visitors to the attraction which immerses riders in the ominous, spine-chilling world of Imhotep and his mummy companions. Innocent bystanders are drawn into an environment that has been cursed by the angry mummies, complete with menacing Scarab beetles, dramatic explosions and vengeful creatures intent on wreaking havoc. The wild, and exhilarating coaster ride begins as the passenger cars enter the mouth of a mummy. The thrill of the ride’s high-speed launches, startling drops and moments of being suspended in air are magnified in complete darkness. Last year, Volkswagen and NBC Universal announced the creation of a multi-year global marketing alliance.

As part of the partnership, Universal will incorporate Volkswagen’s products and brand, in its film, DVD, worldwide theme parks, and other entertainment properties. Additionally, Volkswagen will support numerous media and entertainment related properties of NBC Universal through international marketing and promotional efforts. Earlier this year, Volkswagen sponsored Universal’s “King Kong,” and a Volkswagen Touareg was used in the production of the film. Universal Orlando also includes CityWalk, a 30-acre dining, shopping, club and live-entertainment venue as well as premier on-site Loews hotels and world-class film and television production facilities. Founded in 1955, Volkswagen of America, Inc. is headquartered in Auburn Hills, Michigan. It is a subsidiary of Volkswagen AG, headquartered in Wolfsburg, Germany. Volkswagen is one of the world’s largest producers of passenger cars and Europe’s largest automaker. Volkswagen of America and its affiliates employ approximately 3,000 people in the United States and are responsible for the sale and service of Audi, Bentley, and Volkswagen products through retail networks comprising in total more than 900 independent U.S.

You might think for a moment that that it might be Mazda, with its whole “zoom-zoom” attitude, but for most folks the 5 is a bit too small. Their vans might be powerful and great all-round minivans, but you'd have a hard time justifying those choices with regards to performance. If I had to pick a brand, it would have to be Honda. Put aside the Si and the S2000 roadster and focus for a second on more ordinary products like the Accord and Civic, and what you'll find are cars that are role models for what conventional cars should be like. Hondas, big and small, have an effervescent nature to them, yes - even their minivans. It's what's helped the Odyssey to earn the reputation as being one of the best people movers in the business. This is the way things have been for two generations since Honda gave the van a complete makeover and more conventional layout in 1999, improved again with the 2005 redesign and now we're being introduced to the freshened 2008 model. By and large it looks the same, and that's because by and large it is the same van.

The biggest change is that there's an extra bar on the body-color, chrome-outlined grille, and an extra splash of orange on the enormous, clear-lensed taillights. Upper level Odysseys can be had with the new two-stage cylinder deactivation for better fuel economy. At the other end of the scale, Honda has taken into account those who aren't prepared to drop nearly forty thousand dollars on a family hauler with the new LX trim level. The LX is as low as you can go (in terms of price and equipment) for an Odyssey, yet is generously equipped. Air conditioning, power windows, cruise control, power mirrors and keyless entry are all standard, as are variable intermittent wipers and a rear bench that not only reclines, but folds flat into the floor. The LX is only available as a 7-seater, rather than with eight seats like the rest of the range. All Odysseys also come with front, side-thorax and side-curtain airbags, and VSA stability control too, plus active head restraints.

Audi Q3 Vs Audi Q5 - Side-by-side UK Comparison

Not wearing a seatbelt cost a passenger in this vehicle her life. The Air ForceOnly it’s not quite that simple. The Q5 is spacious and experts report superb on-road handling, but isn’t brilliant when you leave the black stuff, and is a little bland to look at. The Q3 is little more quirky and is a rather more affordable entry into crossover SUV ownership, but reports say is isn’t that exciting to drive. Which one is best? There’s a lot to consider, which is why carwow has put them side-by-side to compare them stat-for-stat to help you make the right choice. Audi isn’t known for designing cars that send pulses racing, and these two are no exception. People tend to appreciate SUVs for their on-road presence more than anything else and Audi already has this covered with the obscenely large Q7, so where exactly do these two fit in? The Q3 is perhaps the better looking of the two - the critics mostly agree it looks stylish enough, and “smart” is a word used often. Facelift models further sharpen the front end, adding some chrome touches and changing the size of the grille slightly.

The Q5 is much more subtle, in fact too subtle for some reviewers, who say it’s not very bold - bland in some cases. There’s no doubting the fact it looks like a premium vehicle, it just doesn’t do it with any kind of fervour - there’s not one feature that’ll make your look linger or even help you remember it afterwards. The Q3 certainly has the better styling of the two, and the facelift freshens it up further, although, for those looking for something truly eye-catching, that might be like comparing beige to magnolia. Audi has a way of enticing people into its cars by providing the best interiors around - places for people to sit that don’t just look good, but are feel good too. The Q3 and the Q5 are no different in this regard - both receive ample praise for their beautifully built cabins and use of soft-touch materials, making them nicer places to be than some cars costing six figures.

Unsurprisingly, where the two cars differ is the space on offer. The Q3 is presently Audi’s smallest crossover (the Q1 is coming but not for a while yet), and testers have noted that rear space may be a little cramped on longer journeys. The boot space isn’t too bad, with 460 litres on offer, expanding to just under 1,400 litres with the rear seats folded - although some may be disappointed that they do not fold completely flat. Still, a low loading lip helps make transportation of larger, heavier objects a little easier. However, if you want a more spacious long-distance cruiser you will want to spend the extra money and get the Q5. Rear legroom is still a little on the tight side, but overall it has been designed with the family in mind, with large cubby-holes and good-sized door pockets. You can opt for a sliding rear bench that’ll help you make a swift choice between boot space and rear seat space, and with all seats accounted for you will have 540 litres of boot space at your disposal. With the seats down, this extends to 1,560 litres, topping the Q5’s Swedish rival, the Volvo XC60.

Those seeking a car with off-road capabilities may want to look elsewhere - neither car is purchased for its ability to depart from the regular road and tackle rougher terrain. Both cars have been noted to suffer from firm rides, especially with the S-Line models, but that’s not to say either car is particularly bad. The Q5 is actually generally praised, firmness aside, because for a car of its size and nature, it handles remarkably like a road car. It feels nimble, according to critics, with precise steering and better-contained body roll than you might expect from a vehicle with its ride height. The rather bonkers SQ5, powered by a demoniacally powerful diesel engine, impresses the most, although you’ll need to part with an awful lot of cash to get one. It has wider tyres, and lower, stiffer suspension than the normal Q5’s set-up but, despite this, the comfort and refinement hasn’t been compromised, and it offers amazing performance on the road. The Q3 doesn’t get quite so many reviewers raving about it, unfortunately. They say it has vague, overly light steering, and while it might not be particularly terrible on the road, it isn’t that fun or memorable.

The fidgety low-speed ride also affects the ride-quality, although this can be alleviated by optional adaptive dampers. Audi is known for its strong petrol and diesel engines, and the Q3 and Q5 have both been given the picks of Audi’s range. The 2.0-litre TFSI engine is rated at 178hp, and this may tempt you away with impressive performance figures, although you’ll be coughing up more than £200 per year in tax. The less powerful 2.0-litre diesel in both cars can save you a little more money on fuel and tax and, with 148hp, it’s still powerful enough to be relaxed on the move, although the improvements in economy aren’t particularly significant. If you want the cheapest possible way into crossover ownership and you must have four rings on your bonnet, you can pick up a Q3 1.4-litre TFSI in SE spec for £23,875. When considering the generous standard equipment levels, this is actually a pretty decent car all-round, and the 1.4-litre engine is a favourite among the experts.

2019 Infiniti FX35

I’m guessing that when “sport” became the first word in sport utility vehicle, or SUV, it was meant more along the lines of sporting - vehicles that would make their way out past the pavement to the hunting camp. Now, many manufacturers put “sporty” into SUV, including Infiniti’s FX35. 64,050 for the FX50. Our tester, the FX35, uses a 3.5-litre V6, producing 303 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission. While it’s not quite like piloting a Nissan 370Z around a curvy road, I’d tag the FX as the closest to it among its SUV peers. It’s based on the platform used for the G coupe and sedan, and feels far more car-like than utility-like. The ride is choppy, but the suspension is firm and well-planted, steering is communicative, and it takes corners sharply, rather than swinging out around them. It may be taller and have a higher centre of gravity than a sports car, but it never feels that way.

Counter to the otherwise exceptional driving experience is the braking, which feels mushy and needs better bite on the pedal. The FX’s curvy profile looks really sweet, but it does come with a price: the rear seats aren’t very roomy, and should the front-seat passengers move their chairs backwards, those behind will really feel the squeeze. Visibility also suffers with the short greenhouse and sharply raked rear window. The grille, introduced for 2009 and resembling ripples on a pond, looks great but turned out to be difficult to clean up for photos: it’s tough to get the chamois in between the bars. Inside, the design is simple and elegant, with centre stack controls placed in an easy-to-find configuration around Infiniti’s signature analogue clock. The memory-equipped seats are long-distance comfortable and include both heating and cooling functions; finding the right driving position becomes even easier with the power tilt-and-telescopic steering column. The rear seats recline for extra comfort, and they fold forward, although not flat, increasing the cargo area from a length of 90 cm to a length of 170 cm when they’re dropped. I’d like to see a new design for the inside front door handles, though, and it’s a problem that isn’t unique to Nissan: they’re too far forward. You simply can’t get enough leverage when opening the door on a windy day, or when trying to squeeze out in a tight parking spot without dinging the car next door. If the handle must be this close to the hinge, then there should be a secondary hand-hold at the rear of the armrest so the door can be stabilized.

The result is a grungy, off-beat voice, a million miles from the mainstream, popular approach. Think Janis Joplin versus Céline Dion and ask yourself who’d you’d rather listen to. But that’s not the only reason V10s arrived in road cars more than 70 years later than did the V12. Even so, it took a while because the question of why anyone would want a V10 remained. It took two other manufacturers who never put a 10-cylinder engine in a road car to provide the answer. This time, it was Honda and Renault and the motivation was F1. It saddens me because it says the real appeal of such a motor is not what it does for the driver but what they think it says about him or her. I find myself wanting to shout ‘just listen to the bloody thing’ rarely more than when recently recovered from the interior of a hard-driven Huracán. They cannot. They don’t make my ears ring, least not like this. And I admire Lamborghini and, indeed, Audi for sticking with it, in the same way I admire McLaren for its refusal to give up hydraulically assisted steering.

Both make the cars to which they are fitted better to drive, and in cars such as these, that should trump all other considerations. No one ever bought a Ferrari or a McLaren in preference to a Lamborghini for its slightly less calamitous on-paper CO2 emissions. But I worry. We know turbo engines are coming to the R8 and we know the Volkswagen Group is still looking for ways to save money on expensive programmes few of its customers will miss. A V10 production line would seem as likely a place to wield the axe as any. And that would be that: one stroke of a bean-counter’s pen on a piece of paper in Wolfsburg and the V10 could be dead and, I don’t doubt, dead it would stay. Sitting here, Huracán still howling and shrieking away in my head, I guess I should just be glad I knew the V10 at all.

1992 DODGE VIPER - An engine originally intended for a pick-up truck but recast in aluminium by Lamborghini. It displaced 8.0 litres and, when we drove it in the Viper, provided the best performance of any road car we’d driven. As the first V10 road car to go on sale, the Viper was a landmark that was to last 25 years. 2002 VOLKSWAGEN TOUAREG 5.0 TDI - It remains the world’s only V10 SUV, and although the 313bhp engine was technologically humble (it shared its bore and stroke with a 68bhp four-cylinder diesel), there was no doubting its effectiveness. Would tow a house without noticing. 2004 PORSCHE CARRERA GT - As blue-blooded a V10 as you’ll find: a 5.5-litre 603bhp engine designed to win Le Mans. Then the rules changed and Porsche pulled out and wondered what to do with the project. This car was the answer and the V10 one of the rarest but finest Porsche engines of all time. 2005 BMW M5 (E60) - BMW was in Formula 1 at the time and wanted to capitalise.

2019 Volkswagen Jetta Expert Reviews, Specs And Photos

It’s an SUV world now, even for traditionally car-centric Volkswagen. The previous generation held its own in terms of driving manners, but it was bland. The 2019 gets up to speed with features, tech, comfort and, notably, better value. If you want more driving grins, Volkswagen has the sportier Golf GTI compact hatchback — a darling of enthusiasts (including me) — just as Honda will sell you a sweet manual-shift Civic Si. The 2019 Jetta offers S, SE, SEL and SEL Premium trim levels, as a well as a sportier-looking R-Line version that replaces 2018’s SE Sport. I spent time in all trim levels for this review. A replacement for the fancier, higher-powered and more expensive GLI trim is expected later. The 2019 is more stylish than the past generation, yet remains more grown-up-looking than, for example, the younger vibe of the latest Civic. The look is sharply creased and more muscular, particularly in front, with an imposing version of the Volkswagen grille and a deeply sculpted hood and bumper.

The side is dominated by a sharp character line from the front fender to the taillight, but unfortunately starts with a little fake fender vent. The roofline, while not as “coupelike” as VW would have you think, is sleeker than the conservative 2018 and slopes nicely into the trunk lid. It does so without making the lid inconveniently small for loading the big 14.1-cubic-foot trunk, which expands via a 60/40-split, folding rear seatback on all models. LED headlights, daytime running lights and taillights are also standard, and even the base model comes with 16-inch alloy wheels (no plastic covers!). The 2019 is slightly bigger in all dimensions, which is most noticeable in the 1.3-inch-stretched wheelbase that moves the wheels closer to the corners. The Jetta’s look is spiced up just a bit for the R-Line trim, which has its own 17-inch alloy wheels, a gloss-black grille and side-mirror caps, plus foglights and a slightly more aggressive rear bumper with dual chrome exhaust tips. Inside, it has a sport steering wheel and R-Line black-and-gray leatherette (imitation leather) seats. The only mechanical change is a higher-performance, brake-based limited-slip electronic differential, but I could tell no difference in normal street driving.

The best part of the new interior is the dashboard (it has a bit of Golf DNA), which wraps around the driver’s field of vision. The center touchscreen is higher and angled toward the driver (no more fumbling down by the gearshift). All the controls are logically at hand, and the buttons and dials have a higher-quality feel and action. The seats — cloth for the base, leather at the top and leatherette for most models — are a new design, firmly supportive and comfortable for a long day of driving. Sadly for the front passenger, however, the shotgun chair is no longer height-adjustable. Comfort over a long drive is enhanced by a cabin that, for 2019, is quiet enough for easy conversation at highway speeds. The new cabin also adds needed practicality, including deep door pockets with big water bottle holders, a larger center console bin and a big soft-surface phone bin at the front of the console.

A small but thoughtful detail that others should copy: The console bin has a light-gray interior that makes it much easier to find things at the bottom. Console storage space is helped by a new electronic parking brake, but we thank you, VW, for not adding one of those complicated electronic shifters to save even more space. The sleeker roofline leaves adequate headroom for a 6-foot-plus adult in the backseat, along with average legroom. Cost-cutting shows, however, in cheaper materials back there. That’s not uncommon in compact sedans, but some — notably the latest Honda Civic — do a better job of disguising the rear penny-pinching. Overall, the backseat is adequate, but it won’t get a lot of five-star feedback. The Jetta’s outdated technology has gotten a major overhaul, with a base 6.5-inch touchscreen for 2019 that is larger than the 2018’s biggest screen (6.3 inches) and an 8-inch upgrade for higher trim levels.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration is standard on all models. The Jetta also has VW’s latest-generation, user-friendly multimedia system, which is fast, sharp and — on the 8-inch system — has beautiful color graphics that are as good or better than those of any other mainstream brand. The upgraded screen’s technology also allows pinch and zoom, along with no-contact gesture control to switch between menus or screens. You have to jump to the SEL model, however, to get the 8-inch system. The smaller version on lower trims is just OK — uninteresting and almost black-and-white unless you’re using smartphone integration. You also have to jump up to the SEL to get the impressive Digital Cockpit configurable instrument cluster, which is a 10.25-inch display that takes the place of lower trim levels’ conventional analog gauges. As with the base multimedia system, these dials seem dull and outdated by comparison. Standard tech on all 2019 Jettas includes useful and fun personalization that can store up to four drivers’ settings to select among when you get in; two also can be attached to the key fobs to be automatic.

Chrysler Sebring, 2019-2019

Vw Touareg 4x4 suv 2006 Anthracite à vendre - J'AnnoncePerhaps it was either, or both, of those things that Chrysler hoped to evoke with its Sebring moniker, first introduced in 1995 on a coupe, and then in 2001 when the Cirrus sedan was redesigned and renamed. Unfortunately, the Sebring wasn’t much to get excited about, although it has proven popular as an upscale family sedan and convertible over the last decade. In 2007, the Sebring was redesigned again, into its second generation as a sedan. As with the previous generation, the 2007 Sebring could be had with four-cylinder or V6 power, but again, the key word was choice. The base engine was a 2.4-litre four-cylinder (173 hp/166 lb.-ft.), and two V6s - a 2.7-litre (189 hp/191 lb.-ft.) and a 3.5-litre (235 hp/232 lb.-ft.) - were the upgrades. A four-speed automatic was the transmission you got with the four-cylinder and the 2.7-litre V6, and the 3.5-litre got a six-speed auto.

T-프라임 컨셉트를 닮은 폭스바겐 차기 투아렉 외관 모습 포착 - 블로그Natural Resources Canada’s fuel consumption ratings were 9.7/6.6 L/100 km (city/highway) for the four-cylinder, 10.8/7.2 L/100 km for the 2.7-litre and 12.9/7.7 for the 3.5-litre engine. In 2008, along with the convertible, an all-wheel drive option was added to the top-trim Limited sedan; its added grip added to fuel consumption, to the tune of 13.8/8.4 L/100 km. In terms of reliability, Consumer Reports gave the latest generation Sebring a “much worse than average” used vehicle rating. CR notes power steering trouble; I found some evidence online of high pressure power steering hoses that burst, which, unsurprisingly, would cause a power steering failure. There’s a “clock spring” in the steering column that delivers power to the wheel-mounted cruise control buttons. This is prone to breaking, and when it does, you lose your cruise and the horn. A flickering oil pressure light is common in cars with the 2.7-litre engine. Apparently, the problem isn’t with the engine itself, but is commonly caused by an overheated oil pressure sensor.

Read here and here for details. A “minor” transmission problem (CR’s word in quotes) is probably linked to a transmission shift cable that slips out of the clip designed to hold it in place and is then allowed to touch the transmission case. Poor quality brake components lead to frequent complaints of noisy brakes whose rotors warp easily and cause a pulsating pedal. Sebring convertibles have a warning sticker on the trunk indicating how and where luggage can be stowed so that it won’t interfere with the top’s operation when it’s lowered. Ignore this and you’re asking for a broken roof mechanism. Needless to say, any convertible top is a complicated piece of machinery and problems are therefore inevitable at some point in the car’s life. Consumer Reports notes that the Sebring’s convertible tops don’t apparently hold up very well, so shop carefully if you’re in the market for a droptop.

In crash testing, the Sebring sedan earned five stars for driver and passenger protection in National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) frontal crash tests and five and three stars respectively for front and rear occupant protection in side impacts. In 2008, the rear seat side impact rating improved to four stars. The 2008 Sebring hardtop convertible earned a full five-star rating. 21,100 for the same car with folding hardtop and navigation. Unfortunately for Chrysler, the Sebring is notable for little other than being cheap to buy. It’s cheap in other, less complimentary ways, too. While this car’s reliability troubles aren’t as serious as they could be, the total package here is less than compelling. If you want a domestic sedan, try a Ford Fusion. It’s more expensive to buy, but is one of the most reliable used family cars you’ll find, period. For convertible buyers, the Sebring is one of the least expensive you’ll find with a metal roof. If that’s enough reason to make you want one, then go for it, but if you shop for cars first and folding roof types second, there are better choices out there than this.

Ford's Compact Focus Is Good For One Thing Variety

Until recently, performance was one and only thing missing via Ford's well-rounded Focus lineup. Ford's stream-lined Focus is useful for one issue: variety. Through the staid starting sedan on the all-electric hatchback, there looks like it's a Focus for anyone. Everyone, that may be, except your performance fan. Ford released this sporty Focus recently, and is definitely about able to start offering it. It's zero secret that this ST are going to be powered by simply an EcoBoost four-cylinder serp, with turbocharging along with direct injection to acquire as very much power via those a pair of liters as it can be. Now could precisely how much power that is to be. The E will develop 252 horse power and 270 pound-feet involving torque. That power are going to be sent on the front wheels by having a six-speed guide book transmission. Since this can be supposed to be a functionality car, there isn't a automatic indication option. The ST will still only be available as being a five-door hatchback, which is okay because your hatch is much better looking as opposed to sedan.

495, Tangerine Howl Orange. Various other performance enhancements include even bigger wheels along with tires. Moreover, the E gets a new body kit which has a blacked-out grille to present it a new sportier search than reduced Focuses. The lining also becomes some enhancements, including a new leather-wrapped steering wheel, aluminum pedals, and Ford's SYNC connectivity technique as normal (your latter will never help anyone drive more rapidly). 750 desired destination charge. In addition there are two possibilities packages. 4, 435, ST3 brings LED jogging and cornering equipment and lighting, interior ambient lighting, heated up mirrors, a new navigation technique, rear armrest, and the front overhead console on the ST2 deal. Should it be worth the idea? The ST's most significant rival are going to be the Volkswagen GTI. Both autos are front-drive "hot hatchbacks" determined by regular compacts. Your GTI brandishes 190 hp along with 207 lb-ft. 27, 845. On paper, the GTI carries a slight advantages in price tag, while your ST carries a major advantages in electrical power. Of study course, the true deciding factor are going to be how effectively each van drives. When Frd introduced the main performance Concentration, the SVT, throughout 2002, it turned out a reach. With luck ,, the ST could make the Ford's Concentration lineup comprehensive.

There's a saying (no idea who said it first) that it's not hype if you can back it up. All that hype you've been hearing about the 2019 Ram 1500? Ram (formerly Dodge Truck) has been playing the long game. They revolutionized pickup truck styling 25 years ago. That massive, macho thing that pickup trucks have now elevated to an art form? Ram (then Dodge) did it first. The front of the 2019 Ram 1500 is just plain gorgeous. And it stays that way over the entire truck. There's not a single bad line, not an awkward proportion. It's like Ram played rope-a-dope with the rest of the truck world, leading them right up to the line where "macho" became self-parody, then let them step over that line while slipping into a perfectly-tailored tuxedo. 2019 Ram 1500 Longhorn Crew Cab 4X4 interior. Ram trucks, especially in Crew Cab form, have always been tremendously roomy. I've made the remark once or twice that I've had smaller apartments---and I'm not sure I was joking.

This time around is no exception. Rear seat passengers not only have limo-like legroom, they have heated seats (upgraded to heated and ventilated with the optional Level 1 Equipment Group in our tester), in-floor storage bins and rear climate control vents. 2019 Ram 1500 Longhorn Crew Cab 4X4 instrument panel. The interior is clear, logical and intuitive. In the Longhorn, it's also a uniquely luxurious place to be. Our tester was done up in Mountain Brown and Light Mountain Brown with Premium Filigree Leather seats and an accent trim that resembled rattlesnake skin. It felt and looked special. 2019 Ram 1500 Longhorn Crew Cab 4X4 center stack. The Ram's center stack is a stroke of genius. A Tesla-style, iPad-inspired big touchscreen that splits into two displays that you configure. Bright, clear and readable at a glance. And it's not all for show. In terms of mileage, the Ram's EPA estimate of 17 city/22 highway is within a hair of the Ford's 17/23 and tromps all over the GMC's 15/20 (we only saw 14.1 in a mix of urban freeway and city streets). It also has---hands down---the best ride and handling of any pickup truck I've ever driven. And it's better than a lot of SUVs and some cars. 3,595 went for the Level 1 Equipment Group---SiriusXM, the 12-inch touchscreen display, an upgraded 19-speaker Harmon Kardon premium audio system, blind-spot and cross-path detection, power running boards, navigation, ventilated rear seats and a wireless charging pad. 66,755, which is right in the zone for this kind of truck loaded to this level. The REAL bottom line is that the Ram is not only our pick for best pickup, it makes the list of TireKicker's Best Cars on the right side of this page. And our bet is that it will stay there for a good long time.
