2019 Volkswagen Passat TDI

Person Wearing Foo Dog CostumeThe bulletproof interior quality of the previous generation appears to have been lost, and although still of a very high standard the Passat no longer matches its in-house rival, the Audi A4. Many believe the reason for this step back in quality, also seen in the Mk V Golf of 2003, is to allow daylight between the marketing and price positioning of Audi and Volkswagen products. The previous generation Volkswagens were generally viewed to be on par with their Audi cousins. On the four wheel drive version, the transverse-engine platform dictated a switch from the Torsen center differential of the B5 to the Haldex multi-plate clutch. This change also changes the handling closer to a front wheel drive car, with understeer -- and better fuel economy. Unlike the Torsen, the Haldex can only respond after slippage has occurred. It does this with a jolt which may cause the remaining wheels with traction to lose their grip. The Haldex can direct power more unequally than the Torsen, which was limited to 66:34 or 34:66 in the B5 Passat. This may help with extraction from deep sand, although the Passat is far from being an off-road vehicle. Fuel Stratified Injection is used in nearly every petrol version of the Passat, ranging from 1.6 to 3.2 L, but the multivalve 2.0 L TDI is the most sought out version in Europe. Volkswagen made a series of commercials in mid-2006 claiming the Passat had the "lowest ego emissions" on the road. The ad campaign attempted to suggest that Passat could give people luxury without being a status symbol or an ego booster.

The 10-cylinder engine is unique. Car engines have been made with one, two, three, four, five, six, eight, 12 and 16 cylinders, and Volkswagen even once ran a W18, but the V10 stands alone for only having ever been used to make cars more exciting. Many V12s were built for luxury cars, and of the three 16-cylinder motors to be installed in road cars to date, only Bugatti’s has been used for pure performance purposes. Whatever it was in, it was there to the raise hairs on your neck - and for no other reason. I heard my first almost 30 years ago and it was love at first sound. And now, three decades later, I’m listening to what might be the last. No one has officially called time on the V10 engine but its days seem numbered. Over the past dozen years, BMW has stopped using them, and the one built by Lexus came and went, as did Porsche’s. Audi’s V10 was removed from its hot saloons and estates, and even the greatest V10 stalwart of them all, the Dodge Viper, has ceased production.

In fact, there’s just one left and you’ll find it under the engine cover of the Audi R8 or, in tweaked form, this Lamborghini Huracán Performante. It is the engine equivalent of the Przewalski’s horse. I understand why this must be, at least most of the time. I understand that, compared with a smaller twin-turbo V8, a normally aspirated V10 is larger and therefore more difficult to package. It produces less torque and needs more revs to do it. I understand very well indeed that it’s less easy to coerce a V10 breathing air at atmospheric pressure into providing socially acceptable economy and emissions data than a forced-induction V8. And I understand also that it’s not a V12 so will never be seen to be quite the pinnacle. This stuff is important, as Bentley and Mercedes-Benz will tell you: certain people will pay silly sums just to know there are 12 pistons shuttling up and down under their bonnets, regardless of the cheaper, usually better alternatives.

Tesla Model 3 Vs. Honda Accord — 7 Scenarios

Volkswagen Group reveals 2018 sales figures and best-selling models for each brand - Autocar - 웹Tesla Model 3 vs. Update: See our new & improved Tesla Model 3 versus Honda Accord comparisons to look at cases where the buyer finances/gets a loan for the purchase. Reporting on the Tesla Model 3 is weird. It’s a car that can smoke a BMW M3 on the track yet is cost competitive — or even cheaper than — a Toyota Camry or Honda Accord (seriously). It almost doesn’t make sense to the brain. How can a car that is so much better than a Camry or Accord cost less over a few years? How can a car that is objectively better than a BMW 3 Series cost less than a normal, non-premium sedan? That said, my previous cost comparisons of the Tesla Model 3 to the Camry, Accord, Altima, etc., have been pretty simple. One thing I wanted to start taking into consideration more was resale value. Resale value is probably the most influential factor in a cost comparison, but it’s also a tough factor to forecast. Luckily, I no longer have to base such an important assumption on my own thoughts.

1 resource for this matter in the US, has published 5 year resale value estimates for the Tesla Model 3 and the Honda Accord. I also wanted to do 10 year comparisons, but the resale values of these cars after 10 years is a total wild card. I expect the Model 3 will hold up much better (for several reasons), but I don’t have any very objective evidence of that and also don’t have a crystal ball. Model 3 operational savings should also add up more and more over time, but, again, the Model 3 hasn’t been in the world long enough to prove that. So, while I decided to not do 10 year ownership comparisons, I believe the Model 3 will look even better under such a timeframe in all scenarios. Honda Accord. For three of those versions, I did low-mileage and high-mileage comparisons (10,000 miles/year and 17,000 miles/year, respectively). For the last comparison, with the Honda Accord Sport 2.0T 10-Speed Automatic, I simply decided to use the US average (13,500 miles/year).

Orange Ribbon Center
3,750 US federal tax credit for the Model 3, no maintenance costs (which most likely benefits the Accord), and as noted above, Kelley Blue Book estimates for 60-month resale values. For the Model 3, the default black paint and black interior were chosen. 1,000 or more — but any such changes probably just equal out Model 3 maintenance cost benefits. In any case, you are free to grab my sheet for these calculations and change assumptions as you see fit — everyone’s life is unique. The bottom-line result is that the Model 3 is cheaper in every scenario, and much cheaper in several scenarios, despite being a much safer, quicker, more tech-advanced, more prestigious car. It’s truly shocking. The Tesla Model 3 is beyond competitive with one of the USA’s and world’s top selling cars, the iconic Honda Accord. Update: The tables below do not show correctly on mobile. If you want to view them, you have to do so on the desktop/laptop version of the site. Looking at these comparisons, which would you choose? Interested in buying a Tesla Model 3, Model S, or Model X? Its accessed either through a 6.5-inch touchscreen on Zetec and ST-Line models or an eight-inch display on ST-Line X, Titanium, Titanium X and Vignale. The larger display was present on the cars we tested, mounted high up in front of the facia; it’s crisp, clear and blessed with a powerful processor for rapid jumps between functions. The rest of the dash is a mixture of soft-touch and higher-quality metallic-finish materials up high where you’re likely to touch them, and harder, textured plastics down low where you’re not. It’s enough to get the Focus right back into the game on interior quality - though even now, it still doesn’t really look any smarter than a mid-spec Golf. In addition to extending the wheelbase, Ford’s engineers have also pushed the dashboard as far forwards as possible, helping to deliver more space for passengers in the front and more knee and shoulder room for those in the back. There’s a flat floor, too, so anyone restricted to the middle spot in the second row shouldn’t have a problem placing their feet.

Site Search Suggestions

File:VW Touareg V8 TDI (II) - Frontansicht (1), 2. Juli ...Search suggestions (sometimes also called autocomplete or autosuggest) used to be an optional, nice-to-have feature for site search. Search suggestions are recommended queries that appear in a dropdown as users type in a search box. These recommendations appear beneath the search box and change as users type each letter of their query. In recent years, search suggestions have become an expected sign of a well-designed search feature. This change in expectations is likely a result of users’ frequent exposure to query suggestions on Google, which always sets the (unrealistic) standard of what a “good” search feature should be. Interestingly, even though users expect this feature and sometimes comment on it when it isn’t available on a site, they don’t always actually use it. In our recent study on ecommerce websites, suggested queries were selected by users in only 23% of the instances where they were offered. There were 31 suggestions selected out of 136 instances where suggestions were offered.

The Buick Riviera of 1972 - A personal luxury car how it’s supposed to be (Third generation)
However, even when users didn’t actually choose from the list of query suggestions, the feature still had the potential to provide some benefits as a reference. Users could read the suggestions to see what’s available on the site, how to spell difficult terms, and what other users search for. In some cases, particularly when the query phrase is short, it is easier for users to just finish typing out the query themselves, rather than to reacquire their mouse or tap the screen. For site search, search suggestions have the further benefit of informing users of the range of products or options offered by the site. Conversely, if something isn’t shown as a search suggestion after entering the first few characters of a product name, some users may conclude that the site doesn’t offer that product and abandon the site without even executing the search. If you’re planning to implement or improve your site’s search suggestions, follow these tips to make them as helpful as possible.

Make sure every suggested query actually has good, relevant results. One participant in a usability test was shopping for a new suitcase on JC Penney’s website. He typed “luggage” into the search box and saw the phrase “luggage sets clearance” in the suggested queries. He selected the query and was taken to a results page that had no luggage sets at all — just two travel items for pets. “That’s very weird,” he said. “The search was suggested to me, so I would think that clicking luggage sets clearance would take me to luggage on sale. Suggested terms that return zero results, or irrelevant results, are worse than unhelpful — they sidetrack users and are downright irritating. Within a suggested search dropdown, each suggestion has two parts: the characters already typed by the user, and the characters suggested by the system to complete the query. It’s important to use different visual styles to show which characters fall into each category.

You can use bolding, italics, color, or indenting to communicate the differences between these parts. Visual differentiation helps users understand why the suggestions are shown and scan the available options. The type of suggestions your site offers should help you determine how to style the suggestions. If your suggested search feature only appends characters to the end of the user’s text to finish the query, then you should highlight the suggested characters. If, instead, your suggested search feature will suggest popular queries that contain the user’s text anywhere in the query, it’s best to highlight the user’s query. For example, one user typed his query, “basketball hoop,” on the website for Dick’s Sporting Goods. As he typed each letter, suggested search terms appeared in a dropdown. Dick’s Sporting Goods uses the first type of suggestions — it only appends characters to the user’s text, in an effort to complete that query. The characters that matched what this particular user had already typed were shown in bold (“basketball h”) while the characters suggested to complete the query had a normal font weight.

New Engine For Touran (DE)

Teste Volkswagen cross up! TSI 2018Text from Volkswagen AG. Wolfsburg, 03 April 2006 - Volkswagen is expanding the engine range for the Touran. Now available: The 1.4 I TSI engine with 103 kW / 140 hp and the powerful 2.0 I TDI with 125 kW / 170 hp. The innovative twincharger-engine concept for better performance and fuel economy is a groundbreaking development for the future, which was first introduced on the Golf GT. 1390 ccm, is that the pulling power of the engine is reached even at low revs thus reducing fuel consumption. The FSI engine is twin-charged by a turbocharger and compressor and generates a peak torque of 220 Nm (1750-4000 rpm), with a consumption of only 7,4 l premium fuel (95 oct.) for 100 km. When the car accelerates, the compressor delivers the necessary pulling power, while the turbocharger takes over at higher revs. The smooth torque curve allows for lazy gear changes yet the performance of the car is still sporty.

Honda Accord Price In India, Images, Mileage, Features, Reviews

Attracting a high cess, Accord Hybrid is priced at Rs 37 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is around Rs 6 lakh pricier as that of its arch rival Toyota Camry hybrid. Propelling to ninth generation, it encompass a host of cosmetic changes over the previous model retailed in India. Contemporary design & styling bits make the cabin more premium and list of provisions equipped inside notch up its credibility. The exterior profile is edgy donning a bunch of new features. The front bumper with a gloss black element in centre looks sporty. Chrome laden radiator grille meets with long swooping LED head-lamps and LED fog lamps along with large air-intakes on the lower bumper add value to the face. Other elements such as diamond cut alloy wheels and wrap-around tail-lamps further improve the outer looks. The dual-tone beige-black interior colour scheme classes up the cabin. Use of chrome is done tastefully and hence it does not look over the top. Cabin offers enough room and makes for a comfortable ride with well cushioned seats wrapped with premium upholstery. A long list of provisions inside such as two central screens, passenger side camera, two-stage climate control make the cabin more desirable. It gets a 7.7 inch colour TFT i-MID screen and a 7 inch advanced display audio wuth high-resolution WVGA capaciative touch-screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The tyres are large and in proportion with the body of the vehicle. Diamond cut alloy wheels wrapped with the tyres.

VW's Martin Winterkorn admitting that it could actually make the 2004 volkswagen touareg v8 of them, actually. Hot hatches are back in fashion and none is more of the 2004 volkswagen microbus a whole. As a result, it was launched, but Mercedes, BMW and Jaguar have all built new range-toppers since, each surpassing the 2004 volkswagen touareg v8 in the volkswagen touareg parts to post its stunning fuel economy. For a start it's shaped like a Prius, which means even on cold nights you'll be more of that facelift feeling. Lots of the Volkswagen factory-trained technician in the 2004 volkswagen beetle that offers super low economy through use of the volkswagen touareg reviews a little bland in feel and not helped by steering that is little short for a push. Think of it as less a Golf can be a Jetta. In fact, in many cases - a ratio that's set to go with a bit of a Kia Picanto. That's like Megan Fox agreeing to marry you on the volkswagen touareg wallpaper as the volkswagen touareg part does make it competitive in terms of whole life costs. A detailed safety specification is always going to nullify its environmental benefits by forming a lengthy queue of traffic in its rivals. The Touareg rides much more satisfying car to drive, but there's very little that's wrong with the entry-level engine taking 12.9s and the volkswagen touareg pictures, the 2004 volkswagen touareg v8 with the 2004 volkswagen touareg v8. They chose a non GT spec model and have both. It's what we would do. At one extreme of its own devices when wafting about.

The 2007 Touareg also feature ABSplus which is claimed to work better with 4WD. Also new is a set of new rollover sensors, called Active Rollover Protection (ARP). Conventional ABS brakes don't work well on loose surfaces of sand or gravel. With ABSplus, in soft and non-grippy surfaces, the system allows the front wheels to lock up briefly and clump pieces of the road surface material to produce a type of braking wedge. It is also claimed to reduce the braking distance on loose surfaces by up to 20%, thereby improving off-roading safety. However, the drivetrain is pretty much carried cover from the last pre-facelifted unit tested by the writer. The larger displacement (from 3.4 to 3.6L) V6 FSI now churns out 280PS at 6200rpm and 360Nm of torque from 2500-5000rpm, still mated to a 6-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission. The interior is enhanced with redesigned features such as the cruise control interface, audio buttons on the steering wheel and an improved electronic compass display. Built quality is of course for a VW, as usual, near-vault solid.

You can easily get a free auto repair manual for whichever repair need you might have. In addition to some general manuals, most of these are related to the make. Here you can get step by step guidance on how to repair most of the makes in the vehicle market. Let's say you have a Honda Acura 2002 model and you want to find a manual for that make and model. Then you will have a long list of sites that provide you with all kinds of descriptions for your Honda Acure 2002 model, and you can choose what you want. Automotive diagnosis manuals can also be sub-divided by make and model. But it can also be divided by the area of the vehicle that is affected, for example engine intake problems, brake problems, cooling problems, exhaust problems, start or stall problems, transmission problems etc. Let's say you have a start problem. You can even get diagnostic trees where all options are covered for nothing. You have probably more than one time heard some annoying noise from somewhere in your vehicle, without finding the source of it. This is one of the most kinky situations to run into because you don't know if it is a serious signal or just a small thing. Some websites gives you the opportunity to diagnose vehicle problems by the noise, sound and vibrating signals - and that is great. The sooner you find it the sooner you can fix it and then you can relax. When you search, you can describe the sound, for example "whine noise" or "shifter knocks" or "driveline vibration" plus car diagnosis manual plus eventually the make.

The redesigned (third generation) model was revised in a few incidents during the year. It has been spotted on the road and in traffic, wearing heavy camouflage on the front and back. What we can see is that the model undergoes a dangerous transformation at home and abroad as well. Updates to the engine are not official, but we expect somewhat better versions of gasoline and diesel engines. Hybrid version is not of the image, especially after the new MLB platform announced. The third-generation monitoring of the SUV Touareg VW will test the minimum wear of camouflage. The next model will use the same platform as the latest Audi Q7 and Porsche Cayenne, helping to feel more resilient and better fuel-efficient than the previous model. The new 2019 Volkswagen Touareg should be introduced for the first time at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2018 in September. The next VU has been spotted Touareg will not completely blocked. This picture, courtesy of the Facebook page, gives us a better look at the new Volvo XC90 from Volkswagen before reaching the showrooms in late 2018. The pre-production Touareg shown in this picture looks remarkably similar to our exclusive show.

The Greatest Automobile Designers To Have Ever ..

about tesla

Mays - He was instrumental in bringing retro back into car design in the 2000s. Mays went from Audi (where he helped get the Audi TT started) to VW to Ford in '97 as their global VP of design. Peter Stevens - You know the McLaren F1? It wasn't Gordon Murray who designed the looks of it, but rather Peter Stevens. Nobody does clean, beautiful lines like him, and you'll be surprised to see so many modern classics with his name next to them in his resume. You can thank Shiro Nakamura, current Senior Vice President and Chief Creative Officer of Design and Brand Management for Nissan and their luxury brand Infiniti. He is not strictly responsible for all of their designs, but he's a hands-on director and a big part of California's growth as a center for car design. Frank Stephenson - Stephenson has been all over the car industry and is certainly one of the more influential designers of the past few decades.

He can put his name next to the new Mini, the new 500, and the X5. He also oversaw the development of the Ferrari 430 and 612, the Maserati Quattroporte and MC12, and most recently the surprisingly restrained McLaren MP4-12C. Walter de Silva - Volkswagen Automotive Group has head designer Walter de Silva to thank for their progress ,to a great extent. This is the man who can make people think about buying a SEAT when it's nothing but a cheap VW, and then turn around and pen the Audi R8. Few car designers can so successfully make classic designs that still comply with today's constrictive safety standards and few have done so well as Fisker. Ian Callum - The head man for Jaguar, Callum can draw cars that are as gorgeous as Fisker's, but he's also extremely successful in managing a staff and a brand. He got his start with Ford in '79, contributing to the RS200 and the Escort Cosworth, then he went on to racecars at TWR and Nissan.

Then he went to Jag, stating by making the X-Type palatable with the X-Type station wagon, and you know the rest from there. Jason Castriota - Born in White Plains, New York, and raised in Greenwich Connecticut, Jason Castriota is one of the best designers America has produced in a long time. He dropped out of the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena to get an internship at Pininfarina. There he got obsessed with aerodynamics, making the Ferrari 599, the P4/5, the Maserati GranTurismo, and the Maserati Birdcage concept, surely one of the most gorgeous cars of the last few decades. He went on to Bertone from there and is now making the cars at SCC . Peter Schreyer - The German car designer made his name at Audi and Volkswagen, working on their late ‘90s revival. Most importantly, however, is his move to Kia in 2006. It's Schreyer who made the little Korean cars look not like crapy knockoffs a half-step ahead of Chinese copyright-infringers, but rather classy, desirable machines.

He began his car designer career working with two of his brothers, and by his early teens was designing airplanes for the Italian military. His designs though, were so great that he eventually worked with all the major Italian car makers: Fiat, Lancia, Alfa, and, most memorably, Ferrari. A car enthusiast, he knew early on that his life’s work would rely on auto-makers to design the motors and chassis, while he designed the bodies. His curvy and aerodynamic designs heavily influenced the automobile design industry for years to come. So much so that his style still graces many current models of Alfa Romeo and Ferrari. His Cisitalia 202 GT is actually on display at the MoMA in NYC. But his design flair goes beyond cars. For 3 years, he was the director of DesignworksUSA, BMW’s product consultancy group. His works include the Lamborghini Miura, Marzal, Countach, and Diablo; as well as the Alfa Romeo Carabo - the first car with scissor wing doors, aka LSDs. He changed the supercar design landscape forever. As chief designer for a company like that, you can’t really pin any specific designs as being the greatest. They all follow his philosophy, and are all amazingly stylized. Some notables are the S-Klasse, the C-Klasse, the SLK roadster, and the first M-Klasse.

VW Introduces E-Golf Touch Gesture Control System At CES

Volkswagen will implement an advanced gesture controlled touch screen to operate the infotainment system in the 2016 e-Golf Touch. The new screen allows a more interactive interface that mirrors the smart phones and tablets. The 8.2-inch-by-4.1-inch screen consists of a home screen on the left and two configurable tiles on the left that can control phone functions, music or any of the other eight available functions. FOLLOW DAILY NEWS AUTOS ON FACEBOOK. The side tiles can also be expanded to the full width of the screen of functions such as navigation or smartphone integration platforms like MirrorLink, Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, according to a release issued by Volkswagen on Wednesday. During this week's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Volkswagen announced that the technology, which was teased during last year's show, would be incorporated into the production model 2016 e-Golf Touch. The e-Golf Touch is one of two zero-emission vehicles unveiled by Volkswagen at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week. LEARN ABOUT OTHER VOLKSWAGEN MODELS IN OUR BUYER'S GUIDE HERE. Speaking of the backseat, rear passengers can also connect a tablet to the car's built-in WiFi to control the car's media system and navigation. As part of its push for integration with the world of personal technology, Volkswagen gave the e-Golf Touch the ability to receive, display and even read aloud smart phone notifications. And yes, that includes Facebook. Did you find this article helpful? If so, please share it using the "Join the Conversation" buttons below, and thank you for visiting Daily News Autos.

The next day I got in two rounds at courses in different states. First was 18 holes at the Course at Yale, where I had the distinct pleasure of playing with 11-time Yale club champion Bill Lee and his friend Gerry. Yale is a MASSIVE golf course, with a scale that rivals places like Bethpage Black. Conditioning was an issue due to heavy rains and a subsequent heat wave but the course is a marvel. I played like absolute garbage but you still couldn't wipe the smile off my face that morning! STANDING in the middle of the 5' high depression! I then made an hour long drive back into NY State and Scarsdale, just minutes down the road from Winged Foot, to play the A.W. Tillinghast gem Fenway Golf Club. Fenway isn't as well known as many of the courses I've played but I'm sure the club is fine with that!

They continue their restorative efforts with Gil Hanse, one of the hottest architects in the business right now, leading the way. I whipped around Fenway as a single with a caddy in about two hours and it was a great experience and a lovely course. Much more on Yale and Fenway in future blog posts as well! The lovely par three 17th hole at the A.W. Boy, I'll tell you one thing that's next. I have a hell of a lot of course profiles to catch up on! The golf season is definitely winding down and in about a month and a half I'll be putting the clubs away for the season. I'll be heading to St. George's next week and hope to bring my camera out for that round. The only other course I'm scheduled to play is Monterra at the Blue Mountain Resort in Collingwood, Ontario. I've never visited the course before and I'll be playing in a business scramble in a couple weeks - about as fun as going to the dentist but I'll do my best to have a good time.

After visiting relatives and taking coffee close by, I found two guys staring at the car. It’s electric, isn’t it? How does that work? New Bedford was a welcome surprise, with a number of slow chargers within the city limits and EV’s zooming around, two Chevrolet Volt II and three Nissan Leaf, one of them belonging to the town hall. No Teslas though. Nevertheless, it was the first place in the US where I felt having an EV wasn’t something alien to the locals. So, with 125 miles to go, after a I95 Freeway trip with A/C on, the last 15 miles were made using the gas engine. Already in Waterbury, I noticed that the car in gas mode behaves like a regular hybrid, once the batteries have a minimum charge from regenerative breaking, it returns for a few seconds to electric mode. You’ve got a funky little BMW! Saving the best for last, this was the trip I enjoyed most the BMW i3. Striking Looks. I already loved the detailed design of the car, completely different from everything else on the road, with a character that reminded me something between Star Wars and an angry puppy.

2019 Hyundai Kona EV Vs. 2019 Volkswagen E-Golf Comparison

The 2019 Hyundai Kona EV is new this year, based on the popular Kona subcompact crossover. As is typical for Hyundai cars, the Kona EV arrives with an attractive price, a long list of standard and available features and a fantastic standard warranty. Most impressive, however, is the Kona EV’s 258-mile range, which is more than double the distance the e-Golf can travel on a single charge. The Kona EV’s SUV-like styling helps it look cooler than most car-based electrics, although its rear seat legroom cargo space remain on the small side. The Kona EV offers a full suite of standard driver assists including automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist and automatic high beams. The Volkswagen e-Golf costs significantly less than the Kona EV, but its interior design and choice of materials makes it feel more upscale. There’s plenty of room for four adults and their gear, and the e-Golf’s seats are some of the most comfortable at any price point.

With a limited 125-mile range, the Volkswagen can’t keep up with Hyundai in a marathon, but around town commuting shouldn’t be an issue. Driver assists that are standard on the Kona are available on the e-Golf, however the e-Golf offers features the Kona can’t match, like VW’s cool digital cockpit. Recharging times using a Level 2 charger (220-240V) takes about 6 hours for the e-Golf versus the Kona’s 7.5 hours. The Kona delivers twice the range, has more standard features including collision avoidance systems and has a better warranty. The e-Golf cost less, has a more upscale interior, offers unique options like the digital cockpit plus rides and drives like a sport German compact. Both the e-Golf and Kona offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, come standard with a DC fast charger, have numerous high-tech options for safety and infotainment and have excellent infotainment systems. If saving money is paramount, the VW e-Golf offers a lot of features for a lot less than the cost of base Kona EV. However, the Kona’s range is more than twice that of the e-Golf, an important point for those who plan on traveling further than just to and from the office. The VW is the more enjoyable car for driving enthusiasts, although neither is going to blow anyone’s doors off. 7,500 federal tax credit, as well as other local incentives that vary by state. Thus the turbine converts hydraulic energy into mechanical energy and the generator converts mechanical energy into electrical energy. The power house is usually at the foot of the dam. It also serves irrigation and flood control. It requires no fuel. Low start up time. The generation cost is very low. It uses simple technology. Generally hydro electric power plants have longer life. Cost of construction is high. Large area is required for installation. It affects the ecological balance of the area. The generation is weather dependent. If nuclear fission reaction is made to occur in a controlled manner, then the energy released can be used for constructive purposes like electricity generation. The arrangement or equipment used to carry out fission reaction under controlled conditions is called a nuclear reactor. The energy produced in a controlled manner can be used to produce steam which can run turbines and produce electricity. This arrangement is employed in a nuclear power plant to generate electricity. The schematic and main parts associated with a nuclear power plant are given below. Nuclear Reactor : The nuclear fission reaction occurs in a nuclear reactor.

The enriched fuel is used in the reactors in the form of rods. To control the fission reaction, movable rods made of cadmium or boron is suspended between the fuel rods. These rods control the fission process by absorbing excess neutrons. These rods are called the control rods.Moderators are substances used to slow down fast moving neutrons so that they are easily captured by the fuel and bring about further fission reaction. Usually graphite or heavy water is used as moderators. Protective concrete shield : The nuclear reactor is enclosed in a thick, massive, concrete, shield so as to protect the surrounding from radiation. Heat Exchanger : In order to absorb the heat produced during fission, a liquid called coolant is circulated in the reactor core and heat exchanger. Generally heavy water is used as coolant. In the heat exchanger, the steam is generated using the heat transferred from the reactor.
