Volkswagen Touareg TDI V. Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel

Two weeks ago, this decision would have been easy. The two SUVs, while similar in the amount of storage, architecture, and engines, are miles apart. I felt that my opinion was the right one. Then VW imploded. VW diesels weren’t the uber-environmental machines the company promised. This revelation meant I had to reevaluate my original decision. And even now, that reevaluation isn’t as cut and dry as some would assume. Last month, I drove two diesel SUVs. A Volkswagen Touareg, and a Jeep Grand Cherokee. I took both on separate road trips, and covered about 600-700 miles in each. Both returned phenomenal fuel economy, but as of two weeks ago, I was leaning towards the Touareg. 18 billion dollar fine from the EPA, but also a criminal investigation from the Department of Justice. That means I have to side with the Jeep right? Well, not so fast. Has Volkswagen Dealt a Fatal Blow to Diesels In the U.S.?

2018 Volkswagen Touareg Reportedly Set For Debut In April ...
It’s hard to separate the current situation Volkswagen is dealing with right now, and the Touareg itself. It doesn’t make my job any easier either. However, it’s now in the public consciousness, and this elephant in the room needs to be taken into account. Two weeks ago, given the choice of the two, I’d have taken the Volkswagen. The seats are more comfortable, I was able to eke out better fuel economy, and it has a serious amount of pickup. The Jeep felt less refined, and when taken off-roading, the air-suspension just wasn’t up to the task. All of which gave the Volkswagen a clear advantage. The two SUVs were similarly equipped, with all the bells and whistles you’d want in a full size family oriented SUV. They were even priced within a thousand dollars of each other. The choice was clear and simple. Volkswagen diesels were seen as a way forward, and a bridge that was able to link the vast difference between American drivers and European drivers. Volkswagen was bringing over a diesel engine that Americans could finally get behind, and that showed with over 25 percent of Volkswagen’s total sales.

It was largely due to Volkswagen's TDI push that Jeep, Land Rover, Chevy, and other manufacturers finally brought their respective diesels to the American market. That’s why this entire situation is such a slap in the face to the company’s loyal, and outspoken customers. Volkswagen violated that trust, and is now just beginning to realize what the price of that violation is going to cost. America vs. Germany: This Time, Not In the Skies Over Europe That still doesn’t answer the question posed. Which SUV is the right choice? With the EPA and European agencies expanding their investigation beyond that of the four-cylinder diesel engine, the diesel V6 in the Touareg is now under the microscope and no one knows how that is going to turn out. Is Volkswagen still lying to the public, or was the four-cylinder the only diesel the company employed its emissions workaround? We just don’t know yet, and until those domino’s fall, it’s my opinion that the Volkswagen is the better product. As mentioned above, I took both on long road trips, during which, I was still healing from my motorcycle accident.

My shoulder, broken from impacting a solid wall of granite, was painful to say the least. Keeping that in mind, the Volkswagen’s seats and driving position were sublime. The leather was soft and creamy, and the ride was Bentley-esque. The Jeep didn’t offer the same comfort. The seats, while wider and roomier, had a harder backing that hit me directly where my shoulder was broken. It didn’t matter where I moved, or how I sat, the seats hit a pressure point which made the trip agonizing. Where the two again differed was in terms of the driving dynamics. The Jeep Grand Cherokee’s engine and drivetrain felt rather old-school diesel. It wasn’t the refined unit that Volkswagen had given the Touareg. The gear changes feel clunky, and the engine isn’t as smooth. Even with the Jeep’s higher torque and horsepower rating, because of the Touareg’s smoothness, the Volkswagen felt faster. I come to the same conclusion as I had before the fiasco; the Volkswagen is the better SUV. Which Do You Buy? Does the scandal matter, though? That truly is the question. While the Touareg is the better SUV in almost every quantifiable way, it doesn’t negate the fact that the company has been lying about its product, or the fact that those diesels were doing harm to the environment. The fact that Volkswagen Group canned the R&D heads of Porsche and Audi is very telling. The 3.0-liter diesel V6 found in the Porsche Cayenne Diesel and multiple Audi products is closely related to the engine under the hood of this Touareg. In all likelihood, the V6 will share the same fate as the I4 TDI. Maybe just buy a gas-powered Touareg and call it a day.

Convert Your SUV Into A Hydrogen Hybrid

If you drive a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), your biggest expenses now would be your weekly gasoline bill. SUV is well known for its notorious appetite to consume fuel. This is unavoidable due to its weight and large engine capacity. Some SUV owners have decided to trade in their prized vehicle for a more fuel economy sedan. For those who choose to keep their cars, this article will share some SUV gasoline saving tips. In order to improve the fuel mileage of SUV, it can be converted into a hydrogen hybrid. A hydrogen hybrid car is a vehicle that uses both conventional gasoline and hydrogen gas (H2) as energy source. H2 is chosen for its potency and high burning rate. To modify a SUV to run on hydrogen gas, an electrolysis device would have to be installed next to the engine. The purpose of the electrolysis device is to extract H2 from water. This is possible because water is made from 2 molecules of hydrogen and one atom of oxygen thus its name H2O.

DSC02417.JPG

For a Sport Utility Vehicle to run on water, the hydrogen gas has to be released into the engine air intake system. When the vehicle is moving, it will suck the H2 into the combustion chambers and combined with gasoline vapor. The gas mixture in the engine will produce a much large explosion thus generating more power. When a SUV is burning the same amount of fuel and achieving a high power level, it has a potential to travel further hence improving its gas mileage. It is a proven fact that a hydrogen hybrid SUV is much cheaper to run. As and added benefit for the environment, the water for fuel system is a clean technology because the only by product is pure water vapor released into the exhaust pipe. Would you like to know how to create your own SUV Water To Fuel Conversion Kit? The system has been proven to save up to 57% on fuel and can double the gas mileage of a vehicle.

You can also browse BMW dealers to find a second hand car close to you today. All used BMW X5 on the AA Cars website come with free 12 months breakdown cover. BMW don't do things in halves, and so it should come as no surprise that their very first 4X4, the X5 (introduced in 1999), has become one of the leading models in the luxury SUV market. Stylish and sophisticated, it may not boast the same off-road ability as its Land Rover competitors, but BMW themselves admit that the X5's real assets are to be had on tarmac. Handling like a saloon car and with a smooth ride, it is luxurious and stylish, yet maintains a sporty edge which makes it a far more exciting on-road car than several of its rivals. New generations come with an added two seats in the boot, which boosts its credentials as a practical family car, but ultimately this is a driver's car. And, while it is multi-purpose, the thrill of its sporty drive on the road (and occasionally off it), is where it performs best.

German sport luxury brand Audi has played a strong role in helping to shape consumer tastes and influence the entire European touring market. For nearly 100 years, the Audi brand has been synonymous with producing high quality, reliable, and well engineered vehicles. An odd start almost scuttled the company's plans, yet today Audi has risen above adversity and is producing cars that are world renowned in quality and engineering. August Horch founded Horch Automotive in Cologne, Germany in 1899, and began manufacturing cars in 1901 which featured a horizontal engine producing upwards of 5 horsepower. Demand for these models propelled Horch to expand production and move to a larger manufacturing facility where a newer, more powerful model cranking out a then-amazing 10 horsepower was released. By 1910, Horch himself was booted out of the company that sported his name so he set up shop elsewhere and began to sell cars under the Audi moniker.

Originally, Horch tried to use his family name, but German courts ruled against him thus the Audi name was selected instead. In German, Horch means "hark" and the word "audi" is the Latin translation of horch/hark. So, although he could legally no longer use his family name, the Latinized version of the same won out. Guess which name is known today? In between a pair of devastating world wars, the modern Audi company began to take shape. Indeed, the "four rings" logo of the company represents the union of four distinct German automotive manufacturers under the auspices of Audi. Yes, you guessed it: the Horch company that originally booted Mr. Horch was absorbed by Audi and makes up one of the four rings. August Horch lived to see that big day, but he also witnessed the dismantling of the company following the end of the second world war. By the late 1960s, Audi began what many consider to be its historic run to the top of automotive excellence. New models were developed several of which were also marketed as Volkswagen models for that era.

In 1980, Audi shook the automotive world to its foundation when it released its Quattro sports car, a vehicle with full time all wheel drive and a turbocharged engine. Instantly, the Quattro propelled the Audi name to the top of the race car world when the vehicle began to win race upon race. Undeniably, the Quattro was such a runaway hit that the model was banned from some races for having an "unfair" technological advantage. Today, Audi continues to expand and compete against all of the top luxury brands in the world. New technology including its Audi Space Frame all-aluminum body - known for its rigidity and improved crashworthiness - are among the highlights of a brand that doesn't settle for second best. From sedans to sport coupes to an all new SUV, Audi has a model that competes against the likes of Lexus, Mercedes, Cadillac, Infiniti, and BMW its chief competitors. That "hark" sound you hear is both the name of a company and the attention the brand deserves in a sea of capable premium models produced by Germany's esteemed Volkswagen Group. Yes, Audi has weathered several storms and the company appears poised to continue its thrust forward thanks to its many innovations and continued high quality.

Following the 2010 update of the Nissan Qashqai at the company’s Sunderland manufacturing plant in England, the South African operation has introduced this model to local buyers. I’ve driven the Qashqai before and I think it’s an awesome little machine deserving of its international success. Actually it’s one of the cars that emphasise Nissan’s revival in the industry, five years after near-bankruptcy threatened its very existence. New to the exterior are the bonnet, which is now more muscular and redefined, a distinctive front grille with sporty undertones, different headlights, a rear lights cluster with 12 LED bulbs, as well as a new side aerodynamic spoiler. Roof rails seen on the 2.0-litre models are fitted as standard. A new model line, already available in Europe, has been added for our market as well. 2 which essentially adds a third row of seats in order for the car to accommodate up to 7 passengers in total.

Time For The Volkswagen Up

Yes, Volkswagen finally has brought in a small car. The new babe is named as the Volkswagen Up and is just 11ft 7in long. Yes, Volkswagen finally has brought in a small car. The new babe is named as the Volkswagen Up and is just 11ft 7in long. Right from the rear engine, rear drive, huge cabin space, the fuel economy, and the looks department, the scores well like most of its predecessors. Ulrich Hackenberg director of VW said they had to ditch the “father of the Up”. For the company it was back to the basics and out came the front-engine and front-drive hatchback. The car will be available on the roads early next year in three-door form and with a five-door variant which will arrive sometime later. The good thing about the car is it is quite smart and well designed under the skin. The car is a good buy for the usually neglected youth as well as the retired.

All the car needs is a bit of kick to make sure that it is not considered like the rest of the boring and sensible small cars. The Germans always have attention for details and this shows in the making of the car as well. The Up has a neat short bonnet with equally short over hang. This results in massive interior space. The engine is quite toned and refined and has the support of some good parts and technology making for a smooth ride experience. The gearbox design is also a never seen before and weighs just 25 kgs even with a quantity of 1 litre. On the inside, the car easily makes way for up to four adults plus their luggage with an equally large boot space of 251 litres. The Up almost matches the Polo in terms of the space. The insides are also very different with a wide range of innovations like the three-dial central binnacle in front of the driver, central dashboard carrying heating, ventilation and ancillary controls. The car is not very arrogant and has a very simple and clean cut with body-coloured hard plastics. In fact the plastics look good in terms of the quality and fit well. The seats are comfy, well cushioned with contrasting trim panels on the squab and back rest. The car still seems to have something left in it even at a decent 59 bhp which is the norm in most city travels. On the long escapades the car seems quiet refined and even after being at 4,000rpm and 70mph it has a decent performance. It easily touches the top speed of 100mph for the 59bhp version and 0-62mph acceleration in 14.4 sec.

A production-ready version of the next-generation Volkswagen Touareg SUV was spotted at a photoshoot and these photos give us a clearer look at what it looks like. The big Volkswagen Touareg is a luxury SUV which has impressed us over the years, but it hasn't been able to quite deliver the sales. We suspect the allure of sister brand Audi's Q7 and the calibre of other German luxury SUVs have stifled the Touareg. This means that the next generation of Volkswagen Touareg needs to be better than good. These photos were taken at a film shoot where two models were being photographed and you can see that the vehicle has been given a thorough visual rework and it looks the part. Note the massive front grille with LED headlights. The third generation Touareg is underpinned by the long-wheelbase version of the MLB platform that spawns models such as the Audi Q7, Bentley Bentayga and Porsche Cayenne. The new Touareg will likely feature a 2.0-litre TFSI turbo petrol and a supercharged 3.0-litre TFSI V6 engine with a 3.0-litre V6 and V8 turbodiesel also expected. A plug-in hybrid version is also on the cards pairing a 4-cylinder, 2.0-litre engine with an electric motor.

The four-door Kia Stinger coupe has already proven its worth, having beaten the Audi S5 Sportback in a twin test back at the start of the year. However, that was in sporty GT S guise. Here we’re testing the Korean car in more affordable and arguably more relevant diesel form, which means it’ll have to face off against some German giants. For years BMW was king of this class, offering a sportier brand image and cars that backed this up with their driving experience. But at nearly £40,000, is this a bridge too far for the Korean brand, or does Kia’s traditional value for money still shine through even at this end of the market? Read on to find out. We’re testing Kia’s 2.2-litre diesel Stinger in top-spec GT-Line S spec, which costs a not insignificant £37,425, but comes loaded with equipment. Given how competitive this class is, the Kia will have to deliver all-round appeal.

We find out if it succeeds against some talented opposition. The Kia acquits itself fairly well once you’re under way, too. That heavier kerbweight did hamper the on-paper performance advantage at our test track, but the Stinger still sprinted from 0-60mph in 7.6 seconds, which was a tenth faster than the Arteon, but one tenth behind the 4 Series. The 440Nm of torque and eight ratios in its box meant it was flexible enough in gear, too. It lagged a little behind the eight-speed BMW, but only by a few tenths in each of the taller gears from 50 to 70mph, and not so much that you’d notice on the road. What’s more important is the quality of the shift. While the box is smooth in auto, it’s not as quick to swap ratios as the BMW’s, or quite as snappy as the VW’s DSG set-up. At a canter the Kia is refined, but push it harder and acceleration is hampered more noticeably by the jerkier gearchanges, while the engine gets a little coarse, too, although both of its rivals suffer this as well. Combined with the sweet chassis set-up, the weight and long wheelbase mean the Kia rides smoothly.

Previous 2012 Audi S5 came packing 4.2 liter V8, which cranked out 354 hp, but the 2012 model will only turbocharged 3.0-liter TFSI engine with a total capacity of 333 hp. This may leave some people shaking their heads, but the green is more compact and this new engine provides improved fuel consumption by about 20% (getting it to 29.04 miles per U.S. If the environmental aspect is not enough, then you can be sure that 2012 Audi S5 convertible will continue to be impressive performance. Hit the jump to learn more about the 2012 Audi S5 Convertible. Like all other models in the line-up, convertible 2012 Audi S5 was a small change in both external and internal. The most obvious change can be found in the new headlights and taillights with LED bulbs. Other changes include a new glossy black upper grille, new and a little more than outlines of the bonnet, larger air intakes on the bumper, and a new crystal-effect finishes paint.

The test prototype of the upcoming 2019 VW Touareg has been spotted several times and details are going to be revealed soon. Volkswagen is involved in a portfolio expansion spree. For this, the VW group is both revamping existing popular vehicles in the lineup and it is also launching new models. The midsized SUV Touareg may not be sold in all markets but it will be updated for 2019 nonetheless. While the Atlas is aimed at buyers looking for large sized SUVs, Touareg is meant for small families and peppy urban people. The 2019 model gets some solid styling updates and the cabin will be revamped too. The layers of padding and camouflage on the test model of upcoming VW Touareg cannot hide the styling cues, as it is. It is quite clear that the 2019 Touareg SUV will be built on the ‘MLB Evo’ platform of the VW group.

It has also been used to make some of the premium vehicles like the Bentley Bentayga, Porsche Cayenne and Audi Q7. From the spy shots, it is also clear the final version will have strong similarities with the T Prime GTE Concept-exhibited last year in Beijing Auto Show. The car will be sold in a few trims and exciting color choices. It will have redesigned bumper and grille as well. Roof rails are also there though it is not clear if it will e standard feature across trims. The cabin of upcoming VW Touareg is expected to be sleek and stylish and with more upscale materials. The dashboard will get a revamp and seats are likely to be large and comfortable. It is likely to have 5 seater configurations. The cargo space may get a boost and the cabin will have several compartments and bins to store small items. The infotainment setup may get larger touchscreen display. Like most of its stable mates, the 2019 VW Touareg will be equipped with enough safety technologies and good amenities. So, ambient lighting in cabin and multi-zone automated climate control may be on the cards. You may get optional customization features too. While VW has not said anything about exact power train it is likely that it will be equipped with a wide range of engines. The 2.0-liter TFSI unit wills be there. The model may also get a 3.6-liter V6 engine. However, the possibility of VW using a plug-in hybrid setup under the hood cannot be ruled out, in future. The fuel engines may be clubbed with 8 speed automatic transmission unit. The exact release date of 2019 VW Touareg is not known. The 2019 VW Touareg is getting several nice updates. The enhanced styling and amenities may help it race ahead of segment rivals from stables of Honda and Hyundai. However, the success will also depend on final pricing.

What You Need To Know About The Audi TTS Roadster

Audi first had its second generation platform that came known in 2008. The TT sport coupe was a two-place roadster. It was well-known as the first "S" models of Audi TT in the market. Quattro was introduced at the Volkswagen Group Design Center in the mid 1990s, though came out in 2008 with a heavily revised version. By then, the first TTS cars were allowed to be officially used in UK for racing purposes. November came of that same year and the TTS finally were on sale in the US. Imagine the Qauttro's wheel drive having a sleek hood that can conceal a turbocharged engine. It's just so tempting to look into its features while forgetting about the price you pay for. Allowing you to have seamless shifts and straightened curves are results of the dampers that are adjustable as you desire. The features of the Audi German Roadster is never to be taken for granted with its heavily revised and heavily improved 2.0 TFSI engine, the machine runs smoothly and comfortably. It is available in either manual transmission or a six-speed S tronic transmission.

Currently, the 2014 TTS has all the useful upgrades you want. Not to forget, it also has a soft top that folds over as a convertible and enough space for seating. It has a maximum seating capacity for two with heated seats. Side and knee airbags are available for safety optimization. It has stability and traction control, allowing the disc brakes' pressure distributed at all the right amounts with the use of electricity. With its 22 city and 31 highway miles per second fuel economy rate, you get to save some bucks for your gas. If you compare the 2014 model with the one of last year, you may see not much of upgrades, but still promises the sharper performance everyone has witnessed. Nothing compares with both the fully equipped interiors and exteriors. Seeing all the mentioned features, it's just really an amazing car for comfort, efficiency, and style. You may have your eyes on other brands or models, but you must expect the TTS to stand-out among the rest while you hit the road. Expecting to have the right fashion for both everyday use and special events, the TTS is just perfect for it. Assorted-color Clothes Display on StreetThe battery pack is recharged by the propulsion motor operating in regenerative braking mode, and by the generator motor, which is powered by the gasoline engine. Battery temperature is controlled by a fan system that pulls air from the interior of the vehicle via vents located beneath the rear seat bottom. The battery pack is covered by a special warranty that covers defects in material and workmanship for eight-years/100,000-miles or ten-year/150,000 miles depending on the state of purchase/registration. The Power Control Unit (PCU), which dictates the power management strategy of the two-motor hybrid system, including motor power and battery recharge, now includes the DC/DC converter and is mounted in the engine compartment. Just like the previous model, the Accord Hybrid is not equipped with a conventional mechanical transmission. Instead, motive force transfer is accomplished through the interaction of the Honda Accord Hybrid's gasoline engine and two electric motors. Coordinated by the IPU, this form of drive force transfer offers smooth and predictable acceleration matched with efficient low-rpm highway cruising when the gasoline engine is in operation.

Gasoline engine shutdown is seamlessly integrated into the operation of the Accord Hybrid when appropriate. The drive force transfer system operates without the need for a torque converter, mechanical pulley or belt. It instead uses two motors for driving and generating power. The system is optimally and rapidly able to control both engine and electric motor rotation in order to deliver higher fuel efficiency and quicker engine response in each driving mode. When cruising at mid- or high-speeds in the high-efficiency range of the engine, a lock-up clutch is engaged, connecting the drive motor to the generator motor to transmit engine torque directly to the drive wheels as efficiently as possible. In EV Drive operation, when the battery-powered drive motor is used for either acceleration or regenerative braking, a clutch disengages the stopped gasoline engine from the drivetrain to eliminate efficiency loss from mechanical friction in the engine. Improving efficiency and reducing weight and size, the drive force transfer system of the second-generation i-MMD integrates the torque limiter within the flywheel.

In the Accord Hybrid, new steering wheel-mounted selector paddles allow the driver to select between four levels of regenerative braking performance. The right paddle adds regenerative braking (displayed visually on the instrument panel) and the left paddle reduces regenerative braking. The Accord's Drive-by-Wire throttle system replaces a conventional throttle cable with smart electronics that "connect" the accelerator pedal to a throttle valve inside the throttle body. The result is less under-hood clutter and lower weight, as well as quicker and more accurate throttle actuation. Moreover, a specially programmed "gain" rate between the throttle pedal and engine offers improved drivability and optimized engine response to suit specific driving conditions. Honda's Drive-by-Wire throttle system evaluates the current driving conditions by monitoring throttle pedal position, throttle valve position, engine speed (rpm) and road speed. This information is used to define the throttle control sensitivity that gives the Accord's throttle pedal a predictable and responsive feel that meets driver expectations. All Accord engines have their exhaust manifold cast directly into the aluminum alloy cylinder head to reduce weight and complexity, and to position each primary catalytic converter as close as possible to the combustion chambers.

All 2010 4Runners have active headrests for driver and passenger, three-point seat belts for all seats, an energy-absorbing body structure and an energy-absorbing hood to help protect pedestrians. The 2010 4Runner now offers the new Safety Connect telematics system. Available by subscription, with or without the optional navigation system, Safety Connect offers four safety and security features: Automatic Collision Notification, Stolen Vehicle Location, Emergency Assistance Button (SOS), and Roadside Assistance. In case of either airbag deployment or severe rear-end collision Automatic Collision Notification is designed to automatically call a response center. If a response agent cannot communicate with the occupants, the agent can contact the nearest emergency-services provider to dispatch assistance. Pushing the in-vehicle "SOS" button allows drivers to reach the response center to request help in an emergency as well as for a wide range of roadside assistance needs. If a Toyota 4Runner equipped with Safety Connect is stolen, after a police report is filed and the driver contacts the response center, agents can work with local authorities to help locate and recover the vehicle.

Klaus Bischoff, "is characterised by a reduced, very clear and yet highly emotional design." And that is certainly no coincidence. The car's lines consistently follow Volkswagen's new era "design DNA" that was developed by de Silva, Bischoff and Manzoni. Its key stylistic traits: Simplicity, purity, durability and perfection of its technologies and quality. Bischoff: "The new concept is therefore very much in harmony with its stylistic 'siblings' of the New Small Family, the Roadster BlueSport and the new Polo." Dimensions of the Volkswagen E-Up! Concept are 3.19 meters (length) x 1.64 meters (width) x 1.47 meters (height). Its wheelbase is 2.19 meters. Front end: Although Volkswagen E-Up! Concept styling was developed from the Up! Consider the front end: It fits in perfectly with the brand's new family face, yet at the same time it refers back to one of the greatest icons in automotive history in the area of the engine bonnet: the Beetle. Nonetheless, the Volkswagen E-Up!

Concept does not reveal the slightest hint of retro styling; instead, designers created new and unmistakable styling tools that would carry the small Volkswagen far into the future. Fitting in with this image are the headlights with their facet-like lenses - cut like diamonds - that extend over the entire width of the lens cover. Another interesting detail: the fog lights. At first glance they can hardly be recognised as such. The designers have configured them as C-shaped, chrome-trimmed elements in the headlight housings. Also style-defining is the black line running in a circular pattern in the bumper - a typical characteristic of the New Small Family. Klaus Bischoff, "the VW E-Up! really appears to smile. And that is how it should be." Conspicuous: There are hardly any openings at the front end, since there is no need for separate cooling of the drive unit. The VW logo on the V-shaped engine bonnet of the Volkswagen E-Up! Concept is more than just an homage to the Beetle.

2019 Volkswagen Touareg Fuel Economy

It seems as though fuel economies sometimes go overlooked for SUVs. The Touareg, for example, is one of the largest vehicles currently made by Volkswagen, but it still is engineered with maximum gas mileage in mind. The Touareg boasts a strong engine and luxurious style. It seemingly hits on all fronts and epitomizes what we want from an SUV. Continue reading to learn more. The biggest player in the fuel economy game is the engine. Each of the Touareg’s three trim levels feature the same engine option. A six-cylinder engine of 3.6 liters with 280 horsepower is what powers this SUV. It’s a large, powerful engine so the Touareg’s gas mileage is in accordance with that. Drivers will see up to 23 highway MPG, 17 city MPG, and average 19 combined MPG. For its class, those numbers are among the best. Torque also plays a factor in the Touareg’s performance. 266 pound-foot of torque at 2,500 rpm is produced. Every other similar model and SUV in the Touareg’s class averages a highway MPG somewhere between 20 and 27, so this ride is right in line with the rest. Its style, however, is what helps it to stand out. Oh, and the fuel tank is a big one as it holds 26.4 gallons of gasoline. Class and luxury are well-represented inside and out of the Touareg, and because of that its pricing is justified.

VW Golf 6 M-Look Carbon Fiber HoodThis is one of several reasons why Audi preferred it to a folding steel roof. What's more, its construction is much lighter in weight, which reduces the overall weight of the Cabriolet and lowers its center of gravity. The outer skin of the top is available in a choice of four colors, the inside in three. The softtop consists of three layers. The intermediate layer is a cushioning pad. In the optional acoustic top, which reduces wind noise almost to hardtop level, this is replaced by a foam layer up to 15 millimeters (0.59 in) in thickness. The acoustic top comes with a ceiling light for the rear seat - a solution usually only found in the topmost convertible luxury segment. In both versions, a hydraulic pump and four operating cylinders that move the top are actuated when a pushbutton on the central console or on the optional remote access assistant is depressed. It takes 15 seconds to open the top, 17 seconds to close it.

Both actions can also be actuated while driving at up to 50 km/h (31.07 mph) - which makes driving much more comfortable. When opened, the top is retracted underneath a fixed cover, where it is folded down into an extremely compact shape. Its storage compartment, which automatically lowers itself into the trunk space, only takes up a few centimeters in height - and only 60 liters (2.12 cu ft) of the 380 liters (13.42 cu ft) of luggage space. The remaining 320 liters (11.3 cu ft) with the top open are by far the best value among comparable vehicles. What's more, the low position of the loading lip makes loading and unloading easier. The wind deflector, which is supplied as standard, can be stored in the spare-wheel well to save space. A very convenient feature in the Audi A5 Cabriolet are the split folding rear seat backrests. They can be easily unlocked by actuating levers in the trunk and drop automatically onto the seat cushions.

The standard pass-though is 70 centimeters (27.56 in) wide. The loading space behind the front seatback is 1.76 meters (69.29 in) long, providing a total storage volume of 750 liters (26.49 cu ft). As is typical of Audi models, the A5 Cabriolet has an extremely rigid body. This is a prime reason for its precise driving performance, its high comfort level, and its maximized crash safety. In the construction of the body-in-white, several innovative technologies are used. A prime example are the ultra-high-strength steels with their extremely high tensile strength, which Audi manufactures in-house using hot forming. The front fenders of the Audi A5 Cabriolet are made of aluminum to lower the weight and to optimize axle load distribution. An enclosed underbody improves the airflow and thereby the fuel efficiency. A whole array of additional reinforcement parts compensates for the absence of a solid roof. They are located in the front section, in the side skirts, in the windshield frame, and in the rear section. Located between the interior and the luggage section is the rollover protection.

And Like All Golf Plus Models

Based on the versatile Golf Plus platform, the new Dune model’s styling is based on that of its ‘little brother’, the Polo Dune. As such it features a raised ride height, revised exterior styling and additional standard equipment. Revised springs and dampers raise the ride height by 20 mm to improve ground clearance and give the Dune model a more purposeful stance. This is enhanced by a set of unique BBS 17-inch alloy wheels, wrapped in 225/45 R17 tyres. The raised ride height is accentuated by a set of bespoke matt blistered wheel arches and tough, textured plastic front and rear. Set into the front bumper is a deep air dam framed by a set of fog lights, while the rear bumper is intersected by a contoured, silver panel. Completing the look are silver roof rails and durable plastic rubbing strips running down the side of the vehicle. Just three colours - Ice Silver and Steel Grey metallic as well as Blue Graphite pearl effect - will be offered.

Beneath the unique body styling is an efficient 1.9-litre TDI engine developing 105 PS and 184 lbs ft of torque. The engine is fitted with a diesel particulate filter (DPF) as standard to reduce emissions. As a result the Golf Plus Dune is capable of returning a combined economy figure of 50.4 mpg while emitting only 148 g/km of CO 2. These gains don’t come at the expense of performance. The Golf Plus Dune has a top speed of 121 mph and the ability to sprint from standstill to 62 mph in 12.1 seconds. Along with the exterior changes, the Golf Plus Dune also comes with additional equipment inside the cabin. Unique interior trim is joined by a leather steering wheel, gear knob and handbrake. In time for the summer, Climatic semi automatic air conditioning is fitted as standard along with automatic driving lights and windscreen wipers, electric front and rear windows, a multifunction computer and an eight-speaker CD stereo system. And like all Golf Plus models, the Dune also features six airbags, ABS and Electronic Stabilisation Programme (ESP). The Golf Plus Dune costs £18,495 (RRP on the road) and is available to order from Volkswagen UK retailers now. Production is limited to 400 vehicles.

Thanks Kevin and lisasuniquevoice! Great idea of freezing the carriage. Will have to try that next time. Appreciate you both stopping by and commenting! This is such a great centerpiece for a baby shower. I love it. You make it seem so easy to make too. I wrote a hub on empty frozen fruit bowls and this carriage could be frozen empty, and pulled out when you need it. It will keep the fruit inside very cold. Thanks for such a great idea. A very different idea! It's so cute and attractive. The video included in the hub is very useful in preparing this easily. I loved it a lot. I will soon try it as a table decor. Happy to hear you love this idea titi6601! Appreciate you stopping by! I love this idea. Thanks so much vibesites! Appreciate all your sweet comments and votes! Great hub, with step-by-step and clear instructions. It's the kind of fruit carvings that I see from the hotel buffets. Thanks for sharing. Voted up and awesome/useful. Thanks kidscrafts for all the votes! Very smart. You are so creative! Beautiful water melon baby carriage. Thanks so much TattooKitty! It does take some time to make but it was all worth it because it was a big hit at the shower. Hope your future shower guests enjoy it! Appreciate you stopping by and adding your sweet comments! I love it. Seems like I've been going to so many showers lately, I'd really like to try making this for the next one.

I made the sucker! 7 through 14 but those three holes at the end cost me huge. Preston and Jon both had excellent back nines on their way to also breaking 90, shooting 87 and 89 respectively. Harry could never get on track with his game, making one par on his way to a 115. That's what happens when you play nine holes in the month leading up to Oakmont, you silly fool. We headed back into the clubhouse after the five hour round and got a little buffet dinner comprised of finger foods - not exactly dinner but it hit the spot, especially since I missed lunch. I was also able to get a few last minutes shots inside the clubhouse. First, a shot of the library. Then I got a few shots in the hallways, including the trophy case and the lounge area near the reception desk. So, what did I think about the golf course? I've played penal golf courses before, with Princeville's Prince Course being the toughest test I've ever seen prior to Oakmont.

The thing that separates a great course like Oakmont from a very good course like the Prince is the fact that Oakmont is so FAIR. Yup, I said the 'F' word! There are no forced carries out here. No water hazards at all, just some dry ditches. Anyone can play this golf course and if you drive it straight and putt and chip well, you can get it around. You won't necessarily score well - as the saying goes here, you just DON'T go low at Oakmont unless your name is Johnny Miller. This course poses risks at almost every turn but demands a multitude of different shots in order to succeed. You use every club in your bag out here and pinpoint accuracy is required all day. The course is definitely a tough go for the higher handicapper but again, a lot of the difficulty comes on the greens. You can definitely get it around the course with all the width out there. Again, I was amazed at how fair this golf course really is. You can make a lot of bogeys and doubles but a lot of the difficulty lies on the slick greens.

How To Position Your Product (And Own A Place In The Consumers Mind)

Depending on who you talk to, positioning is a marketing phrase that has many different meanings to many different marketers. I define positioning as how the customer maps your product in their minds versus comparable products that are available to them. Let me explain this further. Status symbol/luxury: Mercedes Benz/Lexus Serious Driver: BMW Serious sport: Porsche Safety: Volvo Family: Holden or Ford (6 cylinder) Affordable: Toyota Affordable European: Volkswagen Cheap: Hyundai Hoon: Anything with holes cut in its bonnet, big mag wheels and noisy mufflers. Of course, it's not quite as simplistic as this map. We can add other variables to create a "position" for ourselves. Those variables might include gender, age, location, personal aspirations, budget and so on. For example, in Australia women like to drive a hatchback (like a VW Golf), since it's easy to load shopping in the boot (or trunk if you're in America). Let's also look at how easy it is to damage your positioning and to illustrate, I'm going to use one of my favourite current examples, McDonalds.

What is McDonalds to the average person? Well it used to be a hamburger place; and that's how we all saw it in our minds. This was very powerful for McDonalds because hamburgers were a popular takeout food and McDonalds was the first large scale hamburger joint and "owned" the position in our minds. When you thought hamburgers - you thought McDonalds. The marketing department of McDonalds reinforced this perception to us too - through television and other media. We got it - and we attributed McDonalds with the ownership of "hamburgers". It was powerful because consumers don't like to think too much about anything - and when you are powerful like McDonalds and "own" the spot in the consumers mind, you make it easy for the consumer. They just know what you do and you become the place to go. Here in Australia, McDonalds is changing itself - one would think in response to the growing negative perceptions of the quality of the food and general community concerns about obesity.

So it has recently released "deli rolls". But hey, says the consumer, isn't that Subway? And it has chicken nuggets on the menu. Hey, isn't that KFC? And some of their outlets have a McCafe selling coffees and muffins. Hey, isn't that Starbucks? To ask the consumer to think about your brand and to ask them to make quantum leap shifts in their perceptions of your brand (so carefully nurtured by you over all those years) is a huge ask. From the hamburger place to the everything place; from a kids place to a place for grownups; from a "junk" food perception to telling us they are healthy? McDonalds is in serious trouble. Its consumers aren't going to get this. The three steps to create and communicate a position. 1. First think about your product attributes. When you are creating positioning for your product, you need to start by think through the attributes of the product (car attributes include safety, durability, speed, comfort and so on). The best way to identify what is the most important attribute is to ask questions of potential buyers.

What do customers think of your product? What is the most important attribute to them? What would compel or persuade them to buy your product over an alternative? 2. Choose the attribute that's best for your product. But, if you are not the first product in the category, different rules apply. The rule of the follower is to do the opposite of the leader in order to provide the consumer with a genuine alternative. It's a very rare opportunity that you can copy your competitors and win. 3. Now tell the world Finally, having a position is half the battle. The other half is how to communicate that position with consumers. All brands/products must have a personality. The elements of a personality include its name, packaging, price, its advertising and what it does and where it is bought. Its personality ultimately becomes its image. Once chosen, every element of your brand needs to be consistent with your chosen image. Everything must be consistent (and stay that way) so avoid the temptation of changing your brand image regularly - you'll only confuse your customers. As you roll out any promotional activities, every piece of promotion should reinforce this brand image. If it doesn't, it shouldn't be released or approved by you. If you are the first in the product category, your positioning should include a leadership statement.

When does the 2011 Peugeot 308 arrive? In the UK Peugeot will market the facelifted 2011 308 with four model trims: Access, SR, Active and Allure; the top models in the UK are the THP 200 hatchback and CC. Prices start at £15,245 when it lands in dealers in May 2011, and standard equipment across the board includes stability control, remote locking, six airbags and a plethora of electro-handling nannies. Although critics in the UK have never warmed to the 308, it remains a big selling vehicle line for Peugeot. It has flogged more than 900,000 308s worldwide since launch in September 2007. Of those, 84,000 were in the UK. Peugeot is 200 years old this month, so what better way to celebrate than launching a 200 horsepower warmed-up hatch. The new 308 GT THP 200 five-door pictured costs £21,995. Not quite as much sparkle as the RCZ, but that's why it's not badged GTI, in the UK at least. What's the new 308 GT THP 200 powered by? The 308 GT THP 200 runs the same 1.6-litre turocharged petrol engine as the RCZ, giving out 197bhp and 159 g/km of C02.

Peugeot hasn't given any performance details yet but the RCZ with the same engine and gearbox hits 60mph in 7.6 seconds. Peugoet is sensitive to its hot hatch history books, and has ducked out of badging this go-faster 308 a GTI. That missing 'i' tells you plenty about this car's intent. Are there any visual differences between the GT THP 200 and the normal five-door? Yep. A few subtle differences such as a rear spolier, a lower front panel stolen from the 308CC, a rear diffuser housed in the lower bumper and finally twin chrome rear pipes and of course the '200' badges. I don't like five-doors! Will there be a three-door version too? Afraid not, it's this or nothing. Still, if you want the looks, then we'd steer you towards the super-slinky RCZ. Peugeot - the pioneer of folding hard tops - today unveils the new 308 CC. It's not a radical coupe cabriolet, but it's a gentle evolution of the 307 CC blueprint: a four-seater family hatch turned convertible.

Gobbling boot space as it goes? Naturally, the boot shrinks when the roof is lowered, dipping from 465 litres to 266 when it's stowed. But then every folding hard-top car suffers the same problem. The styling of the 308 CC is hardly a surprise, but there are one or two interesting design details. The rear lights are made up of LEDs and inside Peugeot has poached Mercedes' Airscarf system, with a new option called Airwave to warm front occupants' necks. So when will we see the new 308 CC? It's making its show debut at the Paris motor show in October 2008, with UK sales slated for spring 2009. Expect prices from around £18,000 stretching up to £23,000. This black bin sack on wheels is really a Peugeot 308 CC. With underpinnings and engines from the regular 308 hatchback, the CC is expected to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2009, with sales kicking off just in time for next summer.

Mods And Repairs: June 2019 //////\\\\\\

To Jetta owners or previous Jetta owners? Ive wanted a Jetta for years. Im selling my SUV and looking into buying the newer body style 2005, 2006 or maybe 2007 Jetta (If I can afford the 07). I know I dont want the Value Edition. Im favoring the 2.5L. Regardless, just wanting to know about experiences you've had with your Jettas. I used to have a 2001 jetta. It was the best car Ive ever had and loved it dearly. No problems at all! I have an '08 Jetta. SE spec and its a 2.0TDI (I am in the UK). I love it. It's a year old with 17K on the clock and it drives like new. Pulls very well in all gears. Built well and no problems thus far. I don't have a Jetta but my sister has one. I am not a fan of most imports but i like Jetta's myself. A friend of mine has had many Volkswagen's, the only bad thing i have heard is they are known for electrical problems. If you google problems with Jetta's it will come up. They seem very dependable. Just make sure you get a warranty no matter what. My wife has a 2005 2.5L which now has 77,000 dependable miles on it . The Jetta has a cavernous trunk that we load up with camping, bike, and kayak gear when we go on vacations. Even with all this 'stuff' in/on our Jetta, we still get excellent gas mileage (unlike my GTI, the Jetta takes regular fuel). Well, there's our success story. Hope you get a Jetta soon!

If the car was well cared for it should last for many more miles than you were told. The bad part is that any part that you may need is going to cost more than if it were for a more common vehicle. Volkswagen likes to make changes to the vehicles they build every couple years which makes the parts too specific for each model and makes it harder to get anything for them. If you have any issues with the car you need to be prepared to order and wait for the part to arrive. Hope I have been helpful. If it's an automatic, it's a bad decision. It WILL "go" long before the rest of the car. Passats are horrible. They've always been horrible. I doubt that there is a car maker in the world who's cars will not do at least 150k provided they are properly serviced. I have a VW Golf car in Europe with 124k, it uses no oil runs sweet transmission great. My neighbour recently sold his Passat with 132k miles bought a Ford which was months old, sold it after 4 months because it kept breaking down !

13,700 is a good price for a 2007/46k miles volkswagen jetta? VW dealer and he offered me an 07 jetta 2.5 PZEV 47k miles, gray/silver color, package 1, alloy wheels, leather, heated seats. It is a certified vehicle. Is 13,700 a good price? Sounds pretty good to me. I paid 13,000 for a crappy a s s honda civic. I checked nada guide 14.475 was high retail, they are grinding you hard for the certified , without that, (whats the warranty? I would figure 11,600 the highest I would go (average dealer trade in), If its a nice car and a popular model it will sell , your call you can always offer less, and go up? 13500 and act like you are gonna walk away. Give him your offer, be polite and tell him that yours is fair and all you can afford. Start to walk away when he says no. If he calls you back you know your close. Ugh, I can't even make out half of the question. Anyway, it's very very unlikely your GTI is making 20 pounds of boost without some major hardware upgrades including a larger turbocharger and intercooler. It is extremely likely your car is making 20 PSI without any hardware upgrades, contrary to what was said here. What makes you thing that the internals were switched out? Usually people don't mess around with replacing connecting rods and other internals unless they are running a big turbo. You may or may not be able to find out what kind of software your car is running. If the car was chipped in the traditional sense, you can pull the ECU out from under the windshield, open it up, and look for a sticker on the eprom chip with the software manufacturer. If the car had the software flashed through the OBD2 port, or if the ECU was bench flashed while out of the car, you will not be able to tell what the manufacturer is.

2006 Volkswagen Citi Golf 1.4 Rear.jpg English: 2006 Volkswagen Citi Golf 1.4 Rear (Odd South African import) Taken in Leamington Spa Date 4I mentioned in a previous rant that my hearing has improved dramatically; I can now hear faint sounds while driving my Focus Electric that I’ve never heard before while driving any other car. You know, like the Bionic Woman, except that I’m a man. Sure, the logical explanation for this phenomena is that an electric vehicle doesn’t have a noisy engine to mask out those faint sounds. If it was just one of my six senses sharpening up, I’d succumb to the logical explanation and leave it at that. But my sense of smell also improves when driving the FFE. Sometimes, with this particular superhuman power, I can actually smell what goes on inside of cars around me. For instance, this past Monday morning I picked up a slight stench of cigarette smoke while crawling southbound in the 405 HOV lane. The stench grew stronger as I inched up to a black LeSabre with the driver’s window rolled down.

Hyundai Sonata -- Relying exclusively on four cylinder engines hasn't hurt the Hyundai Sonata which gets a class-leading (midsize) highway fuel economy rating of 35 mpg on the highway. Expect the Ford Fusion Hybrid to retain its best in class honors of 41 mpg city, 36 mph highway until the Sonata Hybrid debuts later this year. That car may get 40 mpg on the highway! Toyota Avalon -- For 2011, the Avalon gets 20 mpg city, 29 mpg highway edging out the Chevrolet Impala which gets 19 mpg city, 29 mpg highway. Breaking the 30 mpg threshold may be a year of so away unless Ford figures out a way of sticking in a 2.0-liter Ecoboost four-cylinder engine under the hood of its Ford Taurus. Mazda 5 -- By offering one of the smallest minivans, Mazda has enjoyed an edge no one else can touch. Powered by a 2.3-liter four cylinder engine the Mazda 5 gets 28 mpg on the highway, 22 around town. Ford Ranger -- A 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine will likely allow the Ranger to retain best in class fuel economy for small pickup trucks -- 27 mpg on the highway. Not far behind is the full-size Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid, getting 23 mpg on the highway. Among sport utility vehicles, there is a three way tie thanks to the Ford Escape, Mercury Mariner and Mazda Tribute sharing the same hybrid system. Getting 34 mpg city, 31 highway isn't likely to be challenged although gas powered Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain get 32 mpg on the highway, 22 around on town. As far as diesel powered vehicles go, Volkswagen continues to lead all comers. Its diesel Golf and Jetta models get 30 mpg city, 42 mpg highway by far the best in class fuel economy for any diesel models.

The muted interior design of the 2009 Volkswagen GTI belies the quality of its materials and construction. ConsumerGuide compliments the GTI’s build quality, but notes some excess noise: “Interior decor is especially impressive with quality fabrics, nicely textured plastics, and many soft-touch surfaces. Engine noise is only moderate under full-throttle acceleration. One test GTI suffered from some engine clatter at idle. Coarse pavement generates marked hum. Seating comfort and passenger access, as well as storage capacity, earn favorable remarks. “Access to the rear seat is far easier in the four-door GTI, of course, but even the two-door proves capable of periodic people-hauling duty, thanks to adequate backseat space and relatively painless entry and exit,” says Edmunds. “Cargo space is listed as 14.7 cubic feet of trunk space for the four-door and 15.1 for the two-door. ConsumerGuide notes, “Hatchback versatility with lots of useful cargo room and a low load floor.

44% YoY), with this technology representing 53% of deliveries. And yet, out of the five best selling PEVs, four are BEVs, and the majority of the Top 10 belongs to fully electric models. Well, if BEVs are among the Best Sellers, then why are PHEVs outselling them? Second, all seven all-electric nameplates have waiting lists, some of them are over 6 months long, so if there weren’t production constraints, BEVs would easily overcome plug-in hybrids. 1 Volkswagen e-Golf - Remember the time when saying “e-Golf” was synonymous with “Norway”? 3 BMW i3 - The German Stormtrooper Hatchback sales were flat in January, with 1,867 units, and with the all-electric version now representing 75% of deliveries, one can consider the i3 as part of the BEV team. 5 Smart Fortwo ED - The tiny two-seater seems destined for success this year, registering 1,143 units in January. If Germany (729 deliveries) is the main driving force, other market performances are also impressive, with Italy (131 units) and France (98) being the most important. 16, thanks to 678 registrations, and it could be even higher if…It wasn’t suffering from a common disease (Not enough batteries). Looking at the manufacturers ranking, last year winner BMW (17%) started the year in the lead, followed by Volkswagen (15%) in Second Place, with Renault (9%) ending in the last place of the podium. Interestingly, last year podium was exactly the same.

Ireland December 2019

Another new year to look forward to! Another year of surprises, and let downs. I wouldn't make guesses just yet. The cheapest 30kWh LEAF would cost €27,000 after incentives. I'm confident that there are tons of dealers are plastering "250km RANGE LEAF" all over the place on the internet. I'm confident that Nissan themselves are offering a €4,000 scrappage scheme. I'm not so confident that there's is no advertising of anything! Nevermind BMW or Renault. Especially the latter who only put a poster up for the Kangoo and Twizy 4 years ago. Nissan hasn't said anything about the 30kWh LEAF. Worse, Mitsubishi (I presume) is being starved of PHEVs. I saw the new Outlander ICEs, but no PHEVs. On Mitsu's site, there's no refreshed Outlander PHEV. They only have the old version of the car with 2016 plates! That's worrying considering that the Outlander PHEV has been key for many growing plug-in markets. I guess Mitsubishi doesn't see the worth of importing many here. 1 position for this long?

Even the 70% of plug-ins being LEAFs sound crazy now. Well, don't worry, there are a lot of other countries where the situation is the same. Mitsu Outlander PHEv and Tesla are king and queen of sales here. Tesla have no sale point here and Mitsu dealers have not even bothered to install charging stations at their locations. 3 Tesla owners i know that brought the cars from Austria ( 1 ) and Switzerland (2). There is NO advertising, no info, no banners, no TV ads. So, basic, as the market here i guess ( wild guess ) is at around 100-150 units per year, the car companies don't even bother to invest in promoting the electric cars. So bottom line, if you country is not a key sale country, expect beeing ignored for a while. I've just seen the Romanian sales. Anyway, I could totally see your point. It was very odd to see a Volvo V60 plug-in, but it would've been a clear import. Much like the Tesla Model S which aren't eligible for e-car grants because its not officially sold here. But totally understand, begrudgingly, why there's no Kia Soul EV here or there. Advertising makes a massive difference as a lot of people would have no idea that the LEAF (I know, there's 0 in Romania), ZOE or Outlander PHEV in front of beside them in traffic has electric. A lot of people here don't seem to believe that any exist. Not of a normal car size. The lack of distinct advertising doesn't help that. A PHEV model shouldn't be treated as part of a selection of engines in a car. They operate and offer too differently to be rounded up like that.

Nothing but wind and tire-roar and the cheery raspberry of a 1970s BMW 2002tii. And then the V6 snort of a DeLorean DMC-12. And the cackling French insanity of a Renault 8 Gordini. And the tenor of a Datsun 240Z. The flat-four racket of a Porsche 356. The rumbling V8 of a Pontiac Beaumont. All these, the sounds of the past, as heard from an all-electric front-row seat. They fizz, rasp, and parple up the Sea-to-Sky highway, headed for a lunch stop in Pemberton; we glide along on electrons, squeezing past on a wave of instant-on electric torque. The classics all sound great, and everyone’s having a great deal of fun. What’s surprising, I suppose, is how much fun the future is. This is the BMW i3, and many of you have already skipped ahead to the comments section, there to poke fun at its boxy appearance. If the i8 is a sort of bionic swan, then this thing is the ugly duckling before picture.

The BMW kidney grilles look like the pushed-in nose of a pug, the greenhouse profile is a strange blob of divots and floating roof, and the tall-skinny wheels look like there’s some tractor in this car’s DNA. It’s so bizarre. I absolutely love it. Yes, the i3 is weird, but it shouldn’t apologize for it. Aping conventional car design would be a total mistake, and BMW’s binning of the rule-book is a win. Just as that classic 2002tii’s boxy shape belied an agility that made the big-bore land yachts of the time look silly, this little oddball has a trick or two up its sleeve. It’s hardly perfect, but it’s very likeable. Manufactured of carbon-fibre and aluminium, the i3 immediately feels different once you step into its interior. The swell of the wooden dash and the bright, floating screens broke up an otherwise slightly Spartan interior; dour-but-cheerful, that’s BMW for you. The longer you sit in this car, the more surprising it is.

The Most Significant Updates Come Underhood

above. If you have special licensing needs, please contact me using this e-mail form. Deutsch: Die Verwendung dieses Fotos ist nur gemäss den BedingungenA little after a leaked brochure gave us our first taste of the lightly refreshed 2011 3-Series Coupe and Convertible models, BMW rushed out an official release and a whole bunch of pictures. For the 2011 model year, the Bavarian automaker's bread-and-butter coupe and cabriolet models receive some minor cosmetic touches and updated powerplants. The only change in the cabin concerns the convertible models and the use of sun-reflective technology to mitigate temperatures on leather seating, armrest surfaces, headrests, and gear shifter. BMW says that this new treatment is able to reduce surface temperatures on dark interior colors by up to 20 Celsius degrees (36 Fahrenheit degrees) and by as much as Celsius degrees (27 Fahrenheit degrees)on light-colored upholstery. The next-generation BMW 3 Series isn't that far off, with the sports sedan expected to debut sometime in 2011 as a 2012 model. Yet the Munich brand isn't sitting on its hands in the meantime - the current 3 Series coupe and convertible are getting a mild refresh and updated powerplants this spring for the 2011 model year.

The most immediately noticeable change are headlamp clusters that get a subtle reshaping to go along with a wider grille and reworked lower front fascia. At the rear, the taillamps retain the same shape, but the reflectors are redesigned with some of the light-pipe styling found in other recent Bimmers. The 3 Series coupe will now be offered with xDrive all-wheel drive, while the 3 Series convertible gets a new solar reflective leather upholstery that BMW claims helps keep seat temperatures down when the lid is open. The most significant updates come underhood, where the much lauded twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six is being replaced by a new single turbo version. The revised engine, dubbed N55, has recently been launched in the 740i and the 535i Gran Turismo. The twin scroll turbo has dual exhaust inlets that allow the engineers to better balance the pulses coming in to spin up the turbine faster. This is expected to reduce the turbo lag that some drivers complained about with the outgoing twin turbo setup. BMW also claims it has reduced cold-start emissions by routing all the exhaust gases through a single, larger catalytic converter that heats up faster.

On the intake side, the throttle is eliminated thanks to the addition of BMW's Valvetronic variable valve control system. The N55 also gets direct fuel injection. The end result is the same 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque as before, but with a fatter torque curve that maintains its peak from 1,200-5,000 rpm. The new design of the taillights is unique to the 3 Series Coupe and Convertible. The rear light cluster feature two-piece L-shapes and are further accentuated by a new color scheme. With two rows of light tubes that illuminate simultaneously, they create a night design with depth and dimension. Integrated flush into the body of the car, the lights are split into two sections and extend up the trunk lid, blending with the character lines from the side profile. Though the updated BMW 3 Series Coupe and Convertible will go on sale this Spring, pricing and fuel economy figures haven't been announced as of yet. 52,075 for the 335i Convertible. The latter is expected to be a small improvement in fuel economy for the new single-turbo engine over the current twin-turbo engine's 17 mpg city and 26 mpg highway.

Sorry I don't have time to read all the previous suggestions but I gotta throw in my thoughts cuz the concept of this game (experience really) is AMAZING! And it comes with so much potential. I have read a few really good suggestions that I wont repeat but sorry if I repeat other suggestions. 1. Birds sound super weird to me on green meadows. Depending on where you stand sometimes it is just downright obnoxious lol, would it be possible to dial it back a bit or swap sounds? I really love the meadows but the bird thing kills it. 2. I've seen a few people discussing animal interactions. For my part, I'd be happy just getting to pet them. I not calibrated correctly. 3. I think a scene that contains ancient ruins or something would be cool. Like the ruins of an old castle or something. On that note, I love when you scatter structures and things throughout the map. Its fun to stumble upon things while exploring and I think more of that in general would be cool. 4. More interaction with everything. 5. I want to intentionally repeat the idea I've seen for abstract or "fantasy" worlds, cuz that would be awesome. Maybe if you get enough scenes you could design the home screen to actually be like a structure with portals or something (im just spit balling at this point). Also think surreal worlds would be cool. Really though, you have done an AMAZING job with this concept and have a lot of great ideas for the future. Please don't ever stop working on this project!

Audi knows a thing or two when it comes to performance diesel engines. It's record of race wins with high power turbo diesels at Le Mans speaks for itself. The three litre TDi engine in the standard Q5 is a standout, (also found in other Audi models) and is one of the best if not THE best in the world. Huge torque, virtually silent, they really are the benchmark. Add twin turbos to the engine and it's a whole new ball game. Absolutely stonking acceleration, that will leave you speechless. Towering performance from an SUV that sips fuel at an average of just 6.8 litres per 100 kilometres. 230 kilowatts and 650 nm of torque provides exhilarating thrust. Under full throttle, the diesel in Comfort mode sounds gruff and authoritative, but switch to Dynamic and you'll know you're driving something very special. To enhance the mechanical symphony, synthetised speakers in the mufflers produce a deep booming exhaust note not unlike a V8.

5500 quoted cost for a replacement Leaf battery pack is part of Nissan's answer to the complaints (and class action lawsuit) from early adopters who found their battery packs degrading quickly in hot climates. It's pretty well understood that Nissan is selling these below cost. Has anyone priced out an E-Golf battery. If the replacement cost is too high, these E-Golfs will be disposable. Not something I want to put money into if it is excessive. I generally keep my cars a long, long time. Ask anyone how many old VW TDI's are still on the road with over 300k miles on them. Unlike Nissan's initial launch of the Leaf, VW is guaranteeing that the eGolf's batteries will have at least 70% capacity for 8 years/100k miles. Nissan now has a battery capacity warranty (retroactive to earlier cars) but that's only good for 5 years or 60k miles. As far as the VW TDI, if it's one of the later models affected by the scandal, VW's proposed fix could render those cars as slow as an old Rabbit diesel. If you live in a CARB state, you may not be able to renew registration on the car without the fix applied.

In the United States, one city is typically synonymous with the automotive industry. It's challenging to think of an American made car without thinking of Detroit, Michigan, and in recent years the financial trouble the automobile giant has endured. Though foreign manufacturers in Japan and Korea have gained strength and drivers in the US, it doesn't necessarily mean US automakers are done. MSNBC reported in late 2011 that the Big 3 in Detroit - Chrysler, Ford, and GM - enjoyed a nearly 30 percent increase due to a demand in sports utility vehicles and trucks. Since 2000, an average of 48 million passenger cars alone have been manufactured annually around the world. According to Worldometers, China produces one of every four new cars, and more than half of all cars are produced in Asia and Oceania. Of the approximated one billion passenger cars on the road around the world, close to 25 percent of them are registered in the United States.

According to Businessweek, the top selling car in the world is the Toyota Corolla, with sales of well over 35 million. While China is one of the world's largest producers of passenger vehicles, the country is not necessarily ranked high among top global exporters. Germany - The roots of the German automotive industry date back to the late nineteenth century and the various patents owned by Karl Benz. Where in that time the country produced barely a thousand cars a year, now over five million are manufactured. Popular German brands include Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, BMW, and Porsche. Japan - Gasoline-powered vehicles have been built in Japan early as 1907. Despite natural disasters that threatened the nation's economy, Japan has worked to maintain its place among top car producers and exporters. Toyota, one of the top selling brands of all time, is based in Japan, as are Nissan, Honda, Mazda, and Subaru.

Loving Classic Cars Inside The UK

It appears as if each classic car webpage and magazine has its own chosen couple of vehicles that may possibly grace the top of any list. It could possibly well be that your reason for acquiring a classic determines what looks like the most beneficial choice to you. Many people acquire classic vehicles for either the financial, social and/or environmental factors. It may well also have some thing to do with that insatiable need to be slightly distinctive in a world that appears so predictable and ordinary. For others, the attraction of a specific time period or decade might possibly demand satisfaction via owning a piece of that history, and a classic auto can fit the bill really nicely. For those who take into account the finances behind purchasing a classic, the very first objection could possibly be the price tag, and surely the older the car, the a lot more you may pay. Having said that, a Morris Minor or Anglia 105E that is in beneficial condition has the benefit of better construction and slower depreciation than a number of the newer, trendier vehicles on the road.

Because any vehicle built before 1973 may be exempted from road taxes, these older cars can save somewhat there also. Most of them have average as opposed to exceptional gas mileage, but their parts are more affordable and repairs are much less costly than the far more advanced models becoming introduced to the market these days. Classic auto clubs offer you their own sense of camaraderie, model specifics swap and access to more affordable replacement parts. The popular PA Cresta has its own loyal following, which is decent because parts are tricky to come across elsewhere. You'll find also those individuals who drive a classic vehicle since it is less damaging to the environment, reminding us of the old idea of use it, fix it and use it some much more. Every single salvaged classic auto is one much less pile of scrap metal sitting on a junk heap somewhere. In terms of distinct time periods, the earlier sports cars of the 1930s are deemed valuable classics to own and show off. The Riley, Singer and LeMans 9 will undoubtedly turn heads, but they may well also be a bit difficult to repair mainly because parts tend to be scarce.

The MG T-Series vehicles are just as jaw-dropping but simpler to obtain spare parts for. Additional recent preferred sports classics include the MGB and Triumph Spitfire. If you genuinely desire to impress people and you'll be able to afford it, think of a Wolseley Hornet or a Bentley from this time period. Classics from the 1950s and 1960s mix both practicality and appeal relatively cheaply. Parts are plentiful and there's a good variety of models from which to pick out. Take into consideration the Austin A35 and A40, the Ford Preferred 103E and 100E, the Vauxhall Victor or Viva plus the Hillman Minx. All of these are original, native-manufactured classics. For a far more foreign flavor, you might be tempted to choose up Volkswagen's original Beetle, Renault's R4, the Citroen 2CV or Volvo's Amazon. You will discover several cars that have survived the 1970s to develop into classics: the Mk3 Ford Cortina, Vauxhall HC Viva, Mk1 Fiesta, 127GT Mini Clubman and also the Mk1 Transit. Yet public opinion is rather divided about whether or not vehicles from the 70's and 80's are old enough to be deemed classics. In the event you peruse classic auto sites and magazines you might see an increasing number of of these vehicles becoming listed, so it may be just a matter of time. The fact is, isn't that what a classic is all about anyway?

The bonnet instantly lifts skywards, as 283 kilowatts and an 850 nm tidal wave of torque slams you back in the seat with ferocious G force. In 4.7 seconds you've reached 100 kilometres an hour. A true "oh my God" moment. The thundering acceleration from Audi's brilliant A8 TDI,4.2 litre turbo diesel V8 is such a rush, you'll want to seek out places to repeat this procedure over and over again. It's simply jaw dropping and I guarantee you will have a grin a mile wide! I never tired of it during my week with the car. Endowed with all of Audi's Le Mans race winning diesel technology, the diesel in the A8 is a tour de force ,enabling the 2.1 tonne A 8 to achieve its staggering performance in virtual silence. Just a subdued meaty V8 burble from the tailpipes tells you there's something very special going on under the bonnet.. Remember this is a luxury limousine with every conceivable gadget, safety and convenience feature in Audi's arsenal.

Methods Of Upgrading Volkswagen Car With Chip Tuning

To enjoy flawless performance of your vehicle it is necessary that you maintain it properly. It would be interested to know that with passing time all cars need regular update. Interestingly with invent of computer technology upgrading car mechanism has become more electrical rather than mechanical. This is mainly due to use of software in determining the settings of various components, mainly the engine which controls the functionality of various other parts. With help of chip tuning the car modifiers and mechanics upgrade the performance of your car in the short span of time. In simple words chip tuning may be defined as erasable programmable read only memory. This chip is basically installed in the engine control unit of the car which controls the mechanism of all parts connected with the engine. During chip tuning the existing memory of engine control unit is erased and new parameters of engine control unit are determined depending upon the requirement of the car owner.

Upgrading engine: When it comes to upgrading the performance of the car, the utmost importance is given to upgrading the engine, because among different methods of chip tuning upgrading the engine is of utmost importance as compared to other methods. It would be interested to know that even engine can be upgraded in several ways, but all those methods are not an assurance of improvising the power of engine according to your requirements. Therefore in coming paragraphs we will only focus on those methods that are really relevant and effective. Upgrading the turbo: Configuring powerful turbo engine or integrating upgraded or forced induction to naturally aspirated engine helps in boosting the power of engine . Integrating turbo to NASP is one of the major processes of enhancing the power of engine with little cost. Hence upgrading the turbo is easy and fruitful methods of enjoying the increased power. Upgrading air intake and exhaust system: Improving the flow of air through engine also helps in enhancing the power. Upgrading the air intake system of big engine means high RPM and this dramatically increases the power generation efficiency of the engine. To enjoy the power generation efficiency to its fullest extent it would be better to work on upgrading the induction kits, air filters and existing exhaust system. Upgrading the rod cams:Upgrading the rod cams will improve the timings of air intake and exhaust system resulting in enhanced power generation efficiency of the engine. One thing which needs to be mentioned in this regards is that the rods cams will enhance the power only at the time when the vehicle will move at top gear with high RPM. The best way to enjoy the full benefit of improved rod cams is making its perfect coordination with vernier pulley as both of them together helps in generating the power of your choice in the simplest way.
