Volkswagen Unveils Pickup Concept

For almost a decade, we've been hearing about Volkswagen's entry into the pickup truck market. It began with the AAC, which turned into the precursor to the Touareg when it reached production. After the AAC, Volkswagen remained largely silent on the topic though the rumours persisted. It wasn't until early this year when Volkswagen decided to publicly announce that a Volkswagen pickup is back on the table. It seems all those Toyota Hilux test mule photos were meant to really distract us from the fact that Volkswagen actually had another Japanese maker in mind. The Concept Pickup, as it is currently called, looks decidedly like the Honda Ridgeline. Good thing or bad, you decide but one thing for sure, it looks miles better than the Ridgeline. The grille to the headlights are all quintessential Volkswagen of late and actually fits the schnoz of the Concept Pickup perfectly. The massive wheel arches and bars alongside the bed are nice touches. The Concept Pickup's design is perhaps one of Volkswagen's best yet. Engine choices are not set in stone yet however expect a mix of gasoline and diesel power plants mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6- or 7-speed DSG. It is important to note that the Concept Pickup is designed to for emerging markets, specifically South America. Whether we see this in North America is unknown (though conventional wisdom dictates that it should do well here). More information should be coming this week.

The BMW ConnectedDrive Office functions allow emails, appointments, contact lists, calendar entries and notes to be shown on the control display. It also includes a dictating function that converts spoken notes into text, which can then be forwarded as an SMS or email message. The BMW Apps option includes a web radio function and offers a customised music programme compiled by the Aupeo! Facebook and Twitter access. New apps are being added to this service all the time. The exclusive driving experience in the new BMW X5 is reflected not only in the luxurious interior but also in the extensive standard specification and wide range of high-end optional extras. The standard equipment list now also includes a two-zone automatic climate control system, a Bluetooth hands-free system, an automatically dimming rear-view mirror and cruise control with braking function. The standard-fitted iDrive operating system can be ordered - in conjunction with the optional Navigation system Professional -with a Touch Controller, whose touch-sensitive surface allows the use of characters to program a destination into the navigation system, for example. The Professional radio is also standard specification. Alternatively, a customised listening experience can be provided by a HiFi loudspeaker system, the Harman Kardon Surround Sound System or the Bang & Olufsen High End Surround Sound System with a 1,200-watt amplifier and 16 speakers. Digital radio (DAB) reception, a TV module and a newly developed rear-seat entertainment system with DVD drive and two tablet-style monitors are also available. The new BMW X5 will be built at BMW's Spartanburg plant in the USA. This production plant in South Carolina is the competence centre for BMW X models and also produces the BMW X6 and BMW X3 - to be joined by the future BMW X4 - for supply to markets throughout the world.

The range of seat cover materials and wood accents has been extended. For example, 'Vienna leather': in addition to 'Titanium Black', Corn Silk Beige' and 'Nature Brown', a fourth colour, 'Bonanza' (dark, reddish brown) is now available. Over and above these four colours, the particularly refined 'Nappa leather' can also be ordered in the likewise new colour of 'St. Tropez' (a light, sandy shade). Also new: the 'Sapelli Mahogany' and 'Engineered Ebony' wood accents. Volkswagen is offering its premium class SUV in a highly sophisticated equipment version and as a special 'Touareg Exclusive' model. There are differentiations between the V6 versions and the even better equipped models with V8 and hybrid drive systems. Furthermore, the Touareg is available with a large array of driver assistance and convenience systems. Many of these systems are included as standard, such as the new Automatic Post-Collision Braking System. As well as via the standard optional extras, the Touareg can be customised very specifically via newly conceived 'R-Line' packages and 'Volkswagen Exclusive' features, which are also new. With its numerous systems for providing driver assistance and added comfort, the Touareg is one of the safest and most comfortable SUVs on the market.

Using four cameras, the Area View assistance system recognises what is around the Touareg, thus providing added safety. Protection is also provided by up to nine airbags. Lane Assist ensures no drifting out of the correct lane, while Side Assist warns when changing lane of any vehicles approaching from behind. Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) plus Front Assist inclusive of the City Emergency Braking function brings the Touareg to a stop in an emergency and makes driving in traffic jams easier with the Stop-and-Go assistant. In combination with the RNS 850 radio/navigation system and mobile phone preparation, the Touareg is for the first time available with mobile online services. These will include a 'Point-of-Interest (POI) Search' via Google, map display provided by the 'Google Earth mapping service', the 'Google Street View' function and 'Online Traffic Information'. As with previous models, Volkswagen will also be offering the new Touareg with the especially sporty 'R-Line' feature packages (exterior and interior).

While with the 'R-Line' packages the main focus is on being sporty, with the also new 'Volkswagen Exclusive' features it is on elegance. The Volkswagen R specialists have developed a number of different alloy wheels for the Touareg in the large 19, 20 and 21-inch formats. These are the 19-inch 'Girona' (with bright machined rim flange) and 'Salvador', the 20-inch 'Talladega' (in 'Sterling Silver' or 'Grey Metallic') and 'Tarragona' (in black with bright machined surface) and the 21-inch 'Mallory' (in 'Sterling Silver'). One new standard technological highlight is the Automatic Post-Collision Braking System. It automatically slows the vehicle right down if it is involved in an accident in order to significantly reduce its residual kinetic energy. Triggering of the post-collision braking system is based on detection of a primary collision by the airbag sensors. The system's deceleration of the Touareg is limited by the ESC controller to a maximum of 0.6 g.

2019 BMW X5 Offers More Horsepower And A Little Less Torque

It may resemble last year’s model at first glance, but it’s not. The all-new 2019 BMW X5, which the marque likes to call a Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) instead of an SUV, gets two new engine options, a bigger grille, and new technology. Under the hood, the BMW X5 xDrive50i packs a twin turbo 4.4-liter V-8 with 456 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque versus 445 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque from last year’s V-8 mill. BMW claims a 0-60 mph time of 4.6 seconds and an optional top speed of 155 mph. The X5 xDrive40i offers a twin turbo 3.0-liter I-6 that delivers 335 hp 330 lb-ft of torque. It replaces the previous model’s 2.0-liter I-4 that offers 308 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. BMW claims it can zip from 0 to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds and has a top speed limited to 130 mph. Both engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with all-wheel drive and an electronically controlled locking rear differential.

The X5 gets a standard Dynamic Damper Control system and two performance settings—Comfort or Sport. Up front, the 2019 X5 gets a bigger kidney grille flanked by adaptive LED headlights. Hexagonal BMW Laserlights are optional along with xLine and M Sport model variants. Standard xLine models get matte aluminum grille bars, underbody protection, roof rails, and satin aluminum side window trim. M Sport models receive wheel arch and bumper trim, rear underbody protection and side skirts painted in body color, roof rails, and high-gloss black side window trim. Around back receives a refreshed rear with narrower LED taillights, a two-section tailgate, and dual chrome exhaust tips. The X5 rolls on standard 19-inch light-alloy wheels; M Sport gets 20-inch ones in a twin-spoke design. If those aren’t big enough, there are optional wheels in 21-and 22-inch sizes. Inside, the center console sports an updated iDrive Controller/transmission selector lever, a 12.3-inch infotainment display, and standard electrically adjustable and heated sports seats. Other new features include a four-zone air conditioning system and a panoramic glass roof that’s 30 percent larger than last year’s SUV. The X5’s ground clearance can be raised or lowered by 1.6-inch at the touch of a button. Also, when Sport mode is engaged or the truck’s speed is over 86 mph, ride height is automatically lowered by 0.8-inch, according to BMW.

The new Audi Q5, like the Q7 and the A4, has a self-learning “personal route assist” function. After activating this function, the navigation system learns the routes and destinations that the customer regularly selects, and it associates this information to the parked position and time of day. For as long as it is active, the system therefore learns from the customer’s behavior and uses this information to suggest optimized route planning for the next trip - even while navigation is inactive. The navigation system incorporates the three most likely destinations into the calculation, taking into consideration both the arrival time and current traffic levels. For instance, the system can suggest that the customer activate navigation to find out about potential alternative routes. The driver decides whether or not to activate the function. He also has the option of deleting saved destinations. If the function is deactivated, the system does not store the destinations and does not consider deleted destinations or the routes driven. MMI navigation plus utilizes the Audi connect module to integrate a LTE module and a Wi-Fi hotspot - this lets passengers go online with up to eight mobile devices.

Audi connect enables convenient roaming in Europe for many Audi connect services with its permanently installed SIM card - the Audi connect SIM with a flat data rate. If they wish, users can also book data packages for the Wi-Fi hotspot at attractive prices, which also include EU roaming. The free Audi MMI connect app produces a close interconnection between the car and smartphone or a smartwatch and offers other services. They include remote checking of important vehicle states, online media streaming and transmission of a calendar from a smartphone to the MMI. The Audi phone box connects smartphones to the vehicle’s antenna for optimal reception quality; it also charges smartphones inductively according to the Qi standard. The Bang & Olufsen Sound System with innovative 3D sound introduces the spatial dimension of height. The Audi tablet, which is also new, serves as a flexible Rear Seat Entertainment device. The Audi smartphone interface also brings Apple CarPlay and Android Auto into the new Q5.

2019 VW Touareg Sport TDI: Chasing MPGs [Roadtrip Review]

You may know the VW Touareg as an off-road capable midsize SUV, and you would be right. Its 4Motion permanent all-wheel-drive system is optimized for either on-road or off-road use with adaptive torque distribution. The Touareg is one of the few SUVs with the turbo-diesel engine option, but the number of competitors is growing. It’s also the only Volkswagen currently on sale in the United States that combines AWD traction and TDI power. Still, diesels are known for their efficiency. So, how does the 2015 Touareg TDI serve on a 480 mile road trip across Colorado and New Mexico? The 2015 Touareg lineup receives a facelift in the form new headlights, grille, and front facia. There also new LED lamps in the back. The new headlights have design elements that connect into the horizontals bars of the grille. Why is this important? Well, it’s foreshadowing the new design language that will appear on the production VW CrossBlue crossover and all Volkswagens that follow. Check out the Sport Coupe GTE Concept that made its debut at the 2015 Geneva Auto Show.

Getting back to the matter at hand. The Touareg TDI is still powered by the trusty 3.0L turbocharged V6 TDI. This 24-valve double overhead cam power plant delivers 240 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque @ 2,000 rpm via an 8-speed automatic transmission. This output is typical for a diesel of this size. However, VW refined the system for smoothness and quite operation in any circumstance. The usual diesel clatter at idle is virtually eliminated. There is no perceptible engine noise at highway speeds or around-town driving. Put your foot down, and the Touareg responds with a muffled grunt to easily whisk you away. You can really feel the torque by the seat of your pants. If you still concerned about diesel exhaust smell, the don’t be. There is no smell to speak of. By the way, the dual exhaust tips stylishly fit into the lower facia at the back. This road trip is one of the routes we have done before.

It takes us from Denver, Colorado to Albuquerque, New Mexico and back. The one-way trip is around 480 miles long. The majority of the route has a posted speed limit of 75 mph, and the elevation varies between 4,900 and 7,500 feet above sea level. The Touareg was loaded with four people and belongings for the weekend. Temperatures varied between 48F and 75F and Touareg’s HVAC system was set to “auto” to maintain 71F in the cabin. It must be said how quiet and comfortable the Touareg is on the highway. It may be a cliche, but it’s obvious that this crossover was meant to cruise the autobahn at speeds far above 75 mph. The aerodynamics and cabin isolation combine for one of the quietest cabins at 75 mph that I have sampled. The driver seat is also comfortable enough to make a seven hour trip more than doable. This is one excellent long distance cruiser.

This Sport model did not come with VW’s latest driver assistance technologies or a sunroof. 53,155. The Touareg TDI competes directly against the Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel and several other German rivals, such as the: BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz M-class (aka. The Touareg went 481.7 miles between fill-ups on 15.927 gallons of diesel. The simple calculation shows 30.24 MPG on the highway. The EPA rates the Touareg TDI at 20 MPG city and 29 MPG on the highway. I expected the highway number to more than 30 MPG as turbo-diesels prefer steady-speed cruising. However, averaging near 75 MPH can take a toll of fuel economy. Also, this TDI’s curb weight is 4,919 lbs and permanent all-wheel-drive do not help. Still, averaging just over 30 MPG on the highway in a roomy all-wheel-drive SUV is nothing to complain about. … or Forget it! I give the 2015 VW Touareg TDI Sport a Buy it! It made the long road trip easier and more enjoyable.

The redesigned Accord has a beautiful interior. There are lots of soft-touch materials, and the overall quality is top-notch. The cabin is hushed, even at higher speeds. The Accord has nearly 17 cubic feet of trunk space, which is enough room for multiple beach chairs, a weekend’s worth of luggage for the family, or more than a dozen shopping bags. You may have trouble loading some larger items because the trunk opening is on the narrow side. Standard features in the Accord include dual-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth, two USB ports, a four-speaker audio system, a 7-inch display screen, and Siri Eyes Free. Available features include a moonroof, wireless device charging, a Wi-Fi hot spot, an eight- or 10-speaker audio system, satellite radio, an 8-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and navigation. The Accord gains a leg up on some rivals by offering connectivity features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The upgraded infotainment system has an easy-to-use touch screen, but there are also physical controls for some functions. For more information, read What Is Apple CarPlay? What Is Android Auto?

‘Too Many Companies Are Scheming To Empty Drivers’ Pockets’

Most seemingly squeaky-clean companies or state-run organisations have been found guilty of no crimes - yet sometimes sail perilously close to the wind when endeavouring to empty the pockets of unsuspecting car drivers. They push their luck, adopt iffy pricing and charging procedures, use dubious methods to grab every penny they can - or not pay out when they should, which is equally unforgivable. Technically, they’re doing nothing illegal. But that doesn’t make their antics right or morally justifiable, does it? The latest local authority scam is a perfect example of motorists being hit with charges that aren’t unlawful, but should be. Councils sell ‘residents parking permits’ to households, despite the number of permits available far outweighing the number of parking bays. Illegal, no. Dishonest, yes. On a related theme, when councils break in-house rules by making their own car park bays too short, isn’t it then attempted robbery (or something similar) to fine a driver whose vehicle inevitably exceeds the footprint of such a bay?

And isn’t fining motorists for ‘speeding’ on roads where the limits are inappropriately low (30mph on dual carriageways, for example) another clear example of cynical, state-sponsored highway robbery? Many private and public car park operators in effect hide their price lists on entry, so they can’t be properly viewed until exit - when it’s too late. Some airport websites make drivers hunt for ages for per-day parking charges then, worse still, surcharge the drivers who have the temerity to park for a maximum 24 hours without previously booking online. So petty, yet so lucrative. Don’t cross-channel operators understand they create bad will and risk losing previously loyal customers when they in effect fine them for arriving late, or early, for crossings? Haven’t operators of motorway filling stations woken up to the fact that they’re rigorously boycotted by consumers like me who refuse to pay their exorbitantly high, often-hidden prices? Can’t profit-obsessed dealers get it into their greedy heads that there’s something almost obscene about workshop labour charges of £200-plus an hour when a mechanic is paid only a fraction of that? While Volkswagen deserves much praise for pricing its world-class, petrol-powered five-door up! £10,000, can it or anyone else offer any justification for the £25,000-plus price tag slapped on the near-identical-looking e-up! I’m only asking. More of us should. More of the time.

The saloon, incidentally, is not being offered with the more powerful 2.0 hybrid that you can get in the hatchback and estate. But the latest version of Toyota’s 1.8-litre hybrid has 120bhp, and is enough to take the saloon from 0-62mph in 11 seconds; acceptable, but no more than that. Yet Toyota reckons that with a light approach to the throttle, the car could manage as much as half of its urban mileage without using any petrol at all - a factor that may have real appeal for minicab drivers. It is fair to say that the saloon rarely feels brisk, and hard acceleration requires patience, because a heavy right foot will kick the hybrid powertrain into emergency mode and send the revs (and noise) soaring. However, once you’re up to speed, the engine settles down pretty nicely; glance down at the rev counter at 70mph and you may be surprised, in fact, at how often the engine cuts out altogether. On the flat, and at a steady motorway cruise, it seems happy enough at barely 1,000rpm - and at that, the engine is smooth enough to be barely noticeable at all.

There’s a little wind noise from around the side mirrors, but the most noticeable factor at speed is probably the transference of tyre roar up through the chassis. It’s far from unbearable, though, making the Corolla saloon a relaxed cruiser. The experience is less accomplished on twistier roads, but this is down to the hybrid powertrain more than deficiencies in the chassis. The Corolla stays pretty composed in corners, in fact, despite the extra metal beyond the rear axle. You’ll reach the limits of what the CVT gearbox is happy to do long before you tire of the car’s willingness to turn in and resist body roll. While it is composed, driver engagement is not this car’s strong point. The cabin is pretty much identical to those of the hatchback and estate. That means a decent grade of finish on the facia, with soft-touch materials almost everywhere you’re likely to prod on a regular basis. Build quality feels more than up to three years of ownership abuse, too.

The boggo Gallardo has always felt and sounded raw, with plenty of clonks and whirrs. With minimal sound-deadening the Superleggera is even more vocal, sometimes vibrating accross your back and rib cage. If you’re expecting a slick shift, forget it. A conventional H-pattern manual is available as a no-cost option, which I would strongly recommend to opt for - every pull on the paddle lever brings an annoying neck-snap as the e-gear jerks like mad changing through the box. Why can’t anyone get this right? As I turn left out of the factory gates, a quick jab on the accelerator pedal makes the revs jump as if it’s wired to a defibrillator. The back end kicks wide as the power overcomes the ESP electronics. The V10 barks out so loud, I quickly grab second to stop anyone giving me a ticking off when I get back. I suddenly feel ten years old again.

Honda Accord Price (GST Rates), Images, Mileage, Colours

The Accord Hybrid features not one but two sources of propulsion. One is the 2-litre,i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine and the other one is a dual electric motor set-up. All combine to deliver a peak power output of 215bhp and 315Nm of torque right from the word go. Honda calls its hybrid system as the Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD). Now this system works in three different modes - EV Drive, Hybrid Drive and Engine Drive. Under regular conditions, the Accord runs in Hybrid Drive mode, in which the petrol engine operates as a generator to charge up the batteries. However, the car can run on pure electric mode in stop-start traffic, slow speed cruising or when braking. All this while, the petrol is decoupled from the drivetrain to reduce friction. In full EV mode, one of the two electric motors alone powers the front wheels as the petrol motor (decoupled from the drivetrain) powers the electric generator which in turn charges up the battery pack. This allows the petrol motor-generator combo to supplement the battery by offering more electrical power to the propulsion motor. This rather complicated type of propulsion system can be found in most series hybrid models.

As you would expect, the Accord Hybrid is dead silent at slow speeds. In full EV mode you could even sneak up on other motorists, it’s that silent. There is a limitation to this convenience though - the electric-only driving range is just around 2km post which the petrol motor kicks in. With both the motors working together, performance is strong throughout the bottom end and midrange. It goes without saying that the Accord gets up to highway speeds with ease. The effortless acceleration, in fact, goes well with the laidback, comforting nature of the car. As for the gearbox, the e-CVT unit in here has been tuned in line with the relaxed nature of the car. As a result, it is a little slow to react and hardly engaging when you’re up for some fun behind the wheel. That being said, the rubber-band effect usually present with CVTs isn’t as obvious in this hybrid. Our first drive was mostly restricted to the super wide and smooth tarmac of the Outer Ring Road, Hyderabad. Even so, there was a lot of vertical movement over longer undulations. Make no mistake, the Accord Hybrid delivers a comfortable ride even on poorly surfaced roads but at high speeds, its ride quality can get bouncy though never to the point that it can be deemed uncomfortable.

Japanese auto makers such as Toyota, Nissan, Honda and Subaru are known world wide for producing high quality, efficient and durable cars. Car auctions in Japan give you the chance to buy and export a used Japanese brand car to your country, usually with big savings on similar priced cars you can find in your local dealership. But Japanese drivers also love foreign brands such as Audi, Bentley, Land Rover, BMW, Mercedez Benz, Porsche, Volvo and Volkswagon. It's possible to find these luxury cars very cheaply at Japanese car auctions and you can certainly make a very good saving on buying and exporting from Japan. Japanese drivers take care of their vehicles and because of rigorous safety inspections, taxes and other fees it is more cost effective for a Japanese driver to change their car to a newer model regularly. This means a large pool of well maintained used cars for sale and export. Your first step to finding a cheap luxury car is to find a reputable dealer.

Second hand car dealers don't have the most solid of reputations to begin with and there are cases of foreign buyers being ripped off by dodgey dealers, but these are definately in the minority. First, check out the dealers website and see if they have full contact and bank information and are members of the JUMVEA which is the Japanese government sanctioned trade body for foreign car exporters. Membership means that members have to abide by a code of best practice. Also, make sure that the company is registered with the local government - they should display a government trade license number. Second, test communication with the dealer by either sending an email or calling (many dealers have Skype or similar so you can do it for free). In your initial emails look out for quality of English, timely response and level of details in the answer. Unanswered or evasive answers and poor quality English may lead to misunderstandings later on.

Once you have contacted several dealers and filtered some out you can start to browse seriously for a car. Generally you can either buy directly from the dealers stock of cars (which they make have from spotting a bargin at auction and bought for later resale) or request they look for something for you at auctions. You can have a very specific or very general request and the dealer will try to find something and send you deatils of the cars. All the major car auctions are online and dealers have access to national daily auctions giving a choice of upto 40,000 cars a day! Once you get the car details you can decide to bid or not, send a maximum price you want to bid and sit back and wait for the result! The dealer will try to get the lowest price for you so you don't pay more than you have to. Once you have won a car then you also have to consider paying for paperwork fees, transportation, shipping, insurance and customs import taxes when the car arrives in your country. You also have to make sure the car complies with all local auto regulations. Some dealers may help you with this especially if they are in your own country, but others will probably not give much help. Therefore before you buy make sure you know what you will have to do to make the car legal in your own country. Japanese used car auctions are a great source of both Japanese and European/America brand quality used cars.

This model was voted the best city car of 2010, and with 77 kW at 5000 rpm you can see why. The 66TDI Comfortline feels gutsy, and a maximum power of 66 kW at 4200 rpm and a torque figure of 230 Nm between 1750 and 2500 rpm makes it effortlessly smooth to drive. Flexibility is also a hallmark of the TDI engine, and the very flat torque curve gives strong delivery in the low to mid range. Also, you’ll find the manual TDI will return 4.7 litres/100 km, while the DSG model returns a combined fuel economy figure of 4.6 litres/100 km. The pocket rocket in the bunch is most definitely the GTI Polo model. A very impressive 132 kW powers the little Volkswagen Polo GTi, and with this feisty power you have the potential to really fly. In around eight seconds you will hit 100 km/h from a standstill start. Handling is superb, and lots of smiles are guaranteed! None of the VW Polos will make a big hole in your wallet. Even the GTi has an average fuel economy figure well under 8 litres/100 km.

Volkswagen Wants Other Automakers To Use Its MEB Electric Platform

Volkswagen has yet to launch a single electric vehicle on its new MEB electric platform, but it already wants to share it with other automakers. The German automaker has been working on the platform for years and it was finally unveiled a few months ago. Over the years, VW has been unveiling a series of ‘I.D.’ concept vehicles that will eventually result in production vehicles utilizing the new platform. There’s the I.D., a Golf-sized vehicle, which is expected to be their first mass-market EV for the model year 2020. VW also unveiled the I.D. VIZZION sedan, the crossover all-electric I.D. CROZZ Concept, and then there’s the I.D. They have yet to unveil the production version of any of those vehicles, but the first one is expected to go into production at the end of the year. Now,Volkswagen is inviting other automakers to also use the MEB platform. “Regarding this area, I think that we are industry forerunners in terms of costs and scalability. Therefore, we want to offer access to the MEB, by making it available to the entire industry. He didn’t name any automaker, but Ford has been rumored to be considering using the platform. Last month, Ford and VW announced a partnership that includes considering partnering on electric vehicles. Interesting move. We don’t know many details about the MEB platform but at first glance, it doesn’t look like they have anything special.

Audi Q7 - Audi MediaCenter - 웹Chrome and brushed aluminum trim add elegance with a hint of technology. Everything seems perfectly tailored and fitted. The seats are excellent, supportive and comfortable, much better than most. We've found it sometimes takes time to get comfortable in Volkswagen seats, but we were immediately comfortable in the Touareg. Visibility from the driver's seat is quite good, aided rearward by huge outside mirrors. All controls are easy to reach. The steering column tilts and telescopes manually; optional power adjustments make it easier to fine-tune its position. The switchgear, climate control, audio controls, and window lifts all feel smooth and sophisticated. Move the turn signal lever momentarily and the signals flash three times, handy for lane changes. Instruments are attractive and easy to read, big and clearly marked, using white-on-black graphics. Robust climate controls make adjusting the temperature quick and easy. The standard two-zone system (with rear A/C) does an excellent job. The optional four-zone system, allowing separate control of each of the four primary seating positions, may be overkill but it does give passengers more control over their personal space and it works well.

Farther down on the center console are big round knobs for controlling the differential locks and air suspension (when equipped). The center armrest features a ring designed to hold large water bottles. Overhead, you'll find a small indigo display with compass and clock along with a pair of nicely designed map lights. The glove box is air-conditioned, so you can store a sandwich or beverage in there. Touareg's optional Navigation System provides traditional route guidance with mapping and voice announcements. The Navigation System is being upgraded halfway through the 2006 model year. The system includes a neat off-road navigation mode with compass, altimeter, and GPS coordinates. A tracking mode leaves an electronic trail that can be used to retrace your route. The automatic wipers respond well to changing conditions. While driving through a squall in the mountains near Park City, Utah, they quickly changed the wiper speed from ultra-fast to slow to intermittent, then stopped them altogether when the going got dry. The rear seats are firm, supportive, and comfortable.

The back seat of a Touareg is a pleasant place to be and we spent several hours there, sometimes in extreme terrain. Vents in the B-pillars help direct air back there and the four-zone climate control offers individual temperature controls. A second heat exchanger for the rear seats helps get heat back there quickly on cold mornings. Fold down the rear seats and Touareg offers 71 cubic feet of cargo space with a nice, flat floor. The Volkswagen Touareg feels like a well-engineered vehicle carved from a single block. It's relatively quiet underway, the V6 and V8 engines are smooth, and the six-speed automatic transmission is really smooth. The 3.2-liter V6 lacks the gusto to propel the Touareg with authority. It was revised to produce more power for 2005, bringing the total to 240 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 229 pound-feet of torque at 3200 rpm. Though smooth and quiet, the 3.2-liter V6 Touareg took about 9.4 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60, slow by anyone's stopwatch.

GPS Updates For Honda Navi In Accord Cars

All the map updates can be bought online, and these are the only official Honda Accord updates that you will find - so please visit the official store today on the link and banner below. What Version of the Honda Accord Navi DVD for You? The Honda Accord came to public attention in 1976, when the Japanese manufacturer released their first ever model. By 1982, this mid-sized automobile was being manufactured in the United States and is now one of the country’s best selling cars. In fact the Accord was the 4th highest selling vehicle in America in 2010 with over 300,000 sold to the public. This car consistently comes near the top of customer and consumer reviews and is highly respected for its reliability. There have been many different generations in the range since the 1980s, and it was all the way back in 1981 that the World’s first ever automatic in-car navigation system was included as an optional extra. This device was called the Electro Gyrocator and unlike today’s car navigation software it did not run from GPS. It wasn’t until the mid-nineties that true satellite navigation became an optional extra in the Accord series. Now of course, the Honda Accord GPS in-dash system comes as standard on many models, or can be added as an additional feature in any other Accord model. With so many drivers now relying on the in-dash navigation from Honda to get them from A to B, the process of updating the Honda Maps has become even easier too.

Dynamic, confident and stunning - the Audi A5 Cabriolet is emotionally evocative. The four-seater with the fabric top combines a distinctly sporty character with the fascination of open-top driving, refined comfort and a great everyday utility. Five efficient engines, an agile suspension and a wide range of high-end options make the new Audi the most attractive convertible in the mid-sized segment. Delivery will begin in the second quarter of 2009. Prices start at 37,300 euros for the entry-level 1.8 TFSI model with 118 kW (160 hp), which will follow somewhat later. Crowning the new model series is the Audi S5 Cabriolet. The letter "S" traditionally stands for supreme sportiness - for dynamics, performance and power, but also for amazing efficiency. Powering the S5 Cabriolet is a newly developed, supercharged three-liter V6 that pumps out 245 kW (333 hp) for superior performance. As the dynamic open-top Audi S5 model of the new production series, the S5 Cabriolet occupies a very special position.

Its three-liter TFSI - a V6 with mechanical supercharger - unfolds its 245 kW (333 hp) and 440 Nm (324.53 lb-ft) of torque with impressive results: It responds tenaciously to the throttle and delivers excellent driving performance. The quattro drivetrain, a sport suspension with 18-inch wheels and a number of special equipment details underscore the athletic character of the Audi S5 Cabriolet. Open-top cars are bought with the heart - they are supposed to express the personality of their drivers: their independence, their individuality, their joie de vivre. Design is a particular important factor in this emotional decision, and Audi underscores its leadership in this area once again with the Audi A5 Cabriolet. It appeals to young, highly educated customers with a good income and sporty lifestyle. The Audi A5 Cabriolet combines the brand's progressive styling with the fascination of an open-top car. Measuring 4.63 meters (15.19 ft) long and 1.85 meters (6.07 ft) wide, but only 1.38 meters (4.53 ft) tall, the Audi four-seater wraps the sportiest proportions in its class in classic elegance.

[서경-망우리] 2016.9.18.일. PM8시(망우리 공원묘지)-벙종 - 카페The stretched hood, the long 2.75 meter (9.02 ft) wheelbase, the sharp lines and muscular sweep of the shoulder contour draw a distinctive silhouette. The broad track of nearly 1.60 meters (5.25 ft) front and rear, the large wheels, the distinctive front end, the expressive tail and the sculptured, curving surfaces interact to create a harmonious whole. The styling of the front end is dominated by the single-frame grille bordered by a strip of anodized aluminum. The bars are painted Stone Gray; in the two top V6 models - the 3.2 FSI and the 3.0 TDI - these are painted a high-gloss black. Three air intakes - the center one beneath the grille - emphasize the width of the front end. Two lateral lines extending beyond the hood underscore the presence of the single-frame grille. An aluminum molding lends high gloss to the windshield frame, and LED blinkers are integrated into the new exterior mirrors. As with every Audi, the flanks are marked by taut surfaces and two light-reflecting edges - the dynamic line above the side sills and the tornado line below the window shoulder.

The VW Golf Or The Audi A3?

Blue van to sell [Paris 3e]
The Audi A3 and Volkswagen Golf both share the same platform, as they are both products of the VW Audi Group. Both VW and Audi have competing models in their line up, the A3 Vs the Golf the A4 Vs the Passat and the A8 Vs the Phaeton to name but a few. I love my German cars especially VWs, Audis and Seats I'm stilling growing to love Skoda, but it may take a few more years. I have a bit of a dilemma at the moment; I need a small hatchback that is good on fuel, low on insurance as well as low on tax. There were only two real candidates in my head, the Golf and the A3, my wife did mutter "focus" but ignored her, don't get me wrong the Focus is a very good car but I want German. To be honest I've 80% decided to go with the Audi A3, it's slightly rarer than the Golf and you don't see many being driven by boy racers. The Golf is a very good car; I would go for the Golf GT TDi as it would give me excellent economy of 47.1 mpg plus the great looks. The Audi A3 would have to be the 1.9 TDIe Sport which gives 62.8mpg, that is astonishing! It looks brilliant too. Price wise there is not much of a difference, I have seen an Audi A3 in Barrow in Furness so will be checking that out in the next day or so. My brother in law has the Golf GT TDI so I'll take that for a spin to use as a good comparison but, I'll more than probably go with the A3.

And that is not the best news yet---the 1-series that will debut at the US market will possess BMW's fabulous new twin-turbo, 3.0 liter inline-6. This is the same engine found in the new BMW 335i coupe and convertible that features the piezo direct injection and delivers significantly more thrust than its official 300hp rating suggests. The 1-series has also lighter weight; its powerful hatch should be able to beat the 335i's sprint to 62mph by 5.1 seconds. Its performance is comparable to that of the previous M3. Also coming to the US market is BMW's newest naturally aspirated 3.0 liter inline-6. The 1-series cars that would debut at the US market will be two-door versions only. This means that the US market will miss out on the five-door version. But BMW has made it clear that additional models will be added later on but they would like first to get a quick read on the viability of the car's acceptance in the US before they deploy other models.

The 135i and 130i will also be launch in two-door hatchback forms and soon probably a two-door convertible and sedan with a proper trunk will also be offered but of course this is something for BMW to decide on. Prices for the 1-series hasn't been finalized but expect the car to cost somewhere between the BMW 3-series and MINI. The BMW 1-series with codename E87 is a small luxury car/small family car manufactured by the German automaker BMW since 2004. The 1-series were created to compete with Audi A3 and Volkswagen Golf. The 1-series is also the only vehicle in its class that features rear-wheel-drive and longitudinally-mounted engine. BMW 1-series was first offered to the market in 2004 as a 5-door hatchback was offered as a replacement for BMW 3-series compact range. The 1-series is currently the smallest and most affordable vehicle depending on the engine model of course offered in the BMW range. Unlike the first generation of 1-series the all-new 1-series of BMW is built on its platform (E87) but its shares many components with the E90 3 Series. BMW's 1-series is built in Regensburg, Germany while some of its engines are from the Hams Hall plant in Birmingham England. In the year 2005 it became one of BMW's most successful products with 149, 493 units sold. BMW AG is an independent German Company and manufacturer of automobiles, quality auto parts like window regulators & motors and others, and motorcycles. It was founded by Karl Friedrich Rapp who was originally an aircraft engine manufacturer. BMW is the parent company of the MINI and Rolls-Royce car brands and formerly Rover.

If you're in the market for a new family hatchback below is a rundown on the top five as voted by a renowned online car buyer's guide. Top of the picks is the Volkswagen Golf hatchback which is described by the use of words like 'refined', 'comfortable' and 'fun'. As most Volkswagen cars it's reliable and well built and holds it value well, it comes with an array of safety kit as standard and both looks and feels good to drive. It's only let down by its rather conservative appearance. In at number two comes the Skoda Octavia which has more space than the VW Golf and offers great value for money. But the models on the lower end of the price scale also miss out on some equipment so expect to pay more for things like rear electrical windows and alloys. The green Toyota Prius gets the third spot with its spacious cabin and big boot. It's got excellent fuel economy and low emission which makes up for the rather disappointing interior. Forth in the top five is the Hyundai i30 which is the cheapest of the top five cars and also comes with a great warranty package. It's described as a solid car but a bit bland. Last of the top five cars is the Mazda 3 which is described as funky and fun with good resale value. So if you're in the market for a new family hatchback, you probably won't go wrong by checking out one of the above. If you're after a new Volkswagen, Mitcham has a dealership which should be able to help.

Choosing An Awesome Car Audio System

[Download] [ebook] volkswagen gti golf and jetta service manual 1985 92 gasoline diesel and turbo diesel including 16v detailBeing able to drive on a long stretch of empty road is one of the best things that I like about my car. I simply put the top down and allow the wind to rustle through my hair as the miles fly past and the music blare. The bulk of this experience is dependent on nature and the ample availability of time, money and fuel. However, the last aspect of my driving experience is entirely dependent on the presence of a good car audio system. By meditating or closing my mind to everything else, I can retain my sanity in rush hour traffic. Surviving through rush hour traffic is also a lot easier with the help of great music coming from a good car sound system. When a good car audio system is matched with the internal and external specifications of the car it is housed in, it will perform at its optimal best. It does not make sense to get a high PMPO, 500 watts car audio system if it can only be housed in the small confine of a Volkswagen beetle.

Similarly, getting a tiny, entry level audio system and putting it in the spacious interiors of a hummer or any of the SUVs in the market is not a smart idea. However, choosing the perfect car audio system is just half of the battle in ensuring that the performance matches the expectations. The myriad of available audio systems for vehicles in the market compounds this problem. You can choose car audio systems that come with basic features. Power house audio systems that come packed with features are also available in the present market. Renowned audio system manufacturers also offer super premium systems that can compete with a home theatre system. The majority of audio system manufacturer are in the business for audio systems for vehicles. This is only natural considering that the average office worker spends nearly four hours a day traveling in the car. A good car audio system is becoming a necessity, even if music preferences may change from person to person. An audio system is vital in improving the driving experience. This is the reason why you should take the time to choose a good car audio system on the next time that you are in the market for a new car.

So it’s more fun and satisfying out in the twisties, if you like to play. And again you get those crisp DSG shifts with paddles. Golf R is for serious players, with its 292 horsepower as opposed to the GTI’s 220 hp, and its aggressive suspension tuning. There are four driving modes (Comfort, Normal, Race, and Individual) that adjust the throttle, transmission and steering response, and the firmness of the ride. The Individual mode allows separate setting of these things. Most people don’t and can’t get that specific, and even if they did, things change with each section of the road. So it seems like Individual mode would really only make sense on the track, and changed with each track. Smooth and refined, all the Golf models are more than contenders in their respective classes. The 30-mpg 4Motion SportWagen with the DSG offers a lot of value: Smooth ride and silent, clean cabin. It offers everything the Alltrack does except big wheels and cladding. The Golf R comes out favorably in many areas when compared to the Ford Focus RS and Subaru WRX STI. For years the STI was the star of the pocket-rocket class, now the Focus RS is, but the Golf R deserves more attention.

Volkswagen E-Golf Reviews & Prices

Volkswagen Golf VI - Wikipedia, la enciclopedia libreBased on the current MK7 Golf and Volkswagen’s MQB architecture, the Volkswagen e-Golf is an all-electric version of the automaker’s popular compact hatchback. Get more info on the Golf lineup HERE. First shown at the 2013 Frankfurt auto show and again at the 2013 Los Angeles auto show, the Volkswagen e-Golf is powered by a 115-hp electric motor with 199 lb-ft of torque. A one-speed automatic transmission sends power to the front wheels. 94 hp and 162 lb-ft and 74 hp and 129 lb-ft, respectively. With a 24.2-kilowatt-hour battery, Volkswagen claims the e-Golf (before the 2017 model year) had a 70-90 miles range, while its EPA rating was 83 miles. The all-new MK7 Volkswagen Golf won the 2015 Motor Trend Car of the Year award thanks in part to the efficient e-Golf model. After the completion we said, “With several electric vehicles present at this year’s COTY event, the e-Golf was lauded for driving and feeling most like a “normal” car.

Indeed, it’s tough to distinguish the e-Golf visually from its internal-combustion counterparts, inside or out. We also enjoyed the driving experience. The chassis feels as willing and playful as the other variants, while the electric motor provides an instantaneous 199 lb-ft of torque, rocketing the e-Golf forward. Although Volkswagen claims the e-Golf can reach 60 mph in 10.4 seconds, we did the deed in 9.1 seconds and went on to finish the quarter-mile in 16.9 seconds 80.4 mph. Top speed is electronically limited to 87 mph. The biggest news for the 2017 Volkswagen e-Golf hatchback’s mid-cycle refresh is the addition of a larger 35.8 kWh battery good for a 124-mile range - that’s 50 percent more range than before. Additionally, an onboard 7.2-kW charger is now standard, while DC Fast Charging capability is now standard on SEL Premium and available on the SE trim. The DC Fast Charging can charge the battery to 80 percent in about an hour. Power has also been increased to 134 hp and 214 lb-ft - an increase of 19 hp and 15 lb-ft. Volkswagen claims the updates allow the e-Golf to reach 60 mph in 9.6 seconds and has a higher top speed of 93 mph.

Volkswagen which is written as VW in abbreviated forms is a German automobile manufacturer. The word Volkswagen in German means “people’s car” and it truly is. Volkswagen’s foundation was laid b Nazi trade union, the German Labor Front. Until early 1930’s the entire automobile that was manufactured was luxury vehicle. These luxury vehicles were very expensive and hence out of reach of commoners. This led to a huge opportunity a market that was eyed on by many other manufacturer’s including Mercedes, Autobahn, Volkswagen and more. Adolf Hitler himself wanted the German Automobile companies to manufacture vehicles that are affordable for Germans. He created a maximum price mark on such cars. The price was apparently not feasible for the automobile maker and nobody showed interest. Adolf Hitler then decided to put a state owned factory. He wanted ordinary Germans to be able to own a car. The ideology was the ordinary Germans would buy the car by means of a savings scheme. Volkswagen was first introduced in United States of America in 1949. The company was able to sell only two units during the first year. It began to pick up sales with time. Volkswagen entered in America with the name Victory Wagon and later it changed to Volkswagen of America. Volkswagen penetrated Canadian market in July 1952 with the introduction of model 11C, 11GS, A-M5`, 21A, 23A, 22A, and an ambulance. The top selling models for Volkswagen have been Volkswagen Golf, Volkswagen Beetle and Volkswagen Passat. Canadawheels .ca has stocks of vivid Volkswagen rims that will look super cool on your vehicle. We offer attractive deals over Volkswagen rims, tire and rims packages. Beijing Qingxing Jingke 400

This is the new Beijing Qingxing Jingke 400, a small electric MPV that will be launched on the Chinese car market in Q3. Beijing Qingxing is the company name, Jingke 400 is the vehicle’s name. Beijing Qingxing is a new company, established in 2017 and based in Beijing. They are a subsidiary of FAW-Jilin, in turn a subsidiary of First Auto Works (FAW). The company has been established to cash into the booming EV market in the capital, bringing some competition to Beijing Auto and its various affiliates. The Jingke 400 us based on the FAW-Jilin Senya S80, a gasoline powered mini MPV. Price of the Senya S80 starts at 49.900 yuan and ends at 65.900 yuan. Lone engine is a 88 hp 1.3 petrol. It is a very old car and hasn’t been updated since 2015, so it will likely be cancelled soon. But it will live on in the Jingke 400. The transformation was easy: Beijing Qingxing changed absolutely nothing about the looks. All they did was adding a few blue lines in the front bumper. There was of course a bigger change under the hood. Out went the stinkin’ petrol engine and in came an electric motor. It has 82 hp and 220 Nm, and it is mated to a 45.5 kWh battery pack. Range is 308 kilometers. Range with a constant speed of 60 km/h is 380 kilometers. The 60 km/h thing is an unofficial, and seemingly meaningless, standard used by many Chinese automakers.

Last September, after leaving a strongly worded note on a plug-in that wasn’t plugged in while parked in an EV spot, I called the Commuter Services office for help. I reported the indecency and asked them to please put up some signage telling folks to not park there if they’re not plugged in. They gave me a phone number to call of a guy in Facilities that might be able to do something about it. So I contacted him, and it turns out he wasn’t just some worker bee like me - he is the company’s Sustainability Program Manager. Fortunately by the beginning of December, construction started to accommodate the additional EVSEs. As promised by our trusty Sustainability Program Manager, we now have sixteen EV charging spots to serve our sites. What surprised me is that on the first morning of service in the parking garage, all eight spots were being utilized; six Volts, a Leaf, and my Focus Electric. The eight outdoor spots, probably due to a less convenient location, were only half-ultilized. I sent an email to our Sustainability PM, thanking him for the thoughtful holiday gift. He wrote back, excited about being able to make it happen here in California and about putting in our first EVSE at a Texas facility, with more locations to follow. Sounds pretty wonderful to me. Perhaps this is the start of a new workplace holiday tradition.

Will You Be Overclocking?

BMW BMWi3 i3 LUX 관리가잘되어있는 중고차옥션에서 확인! - 블로그
What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using. I will be doing heavy gaming and school work. I build for heavy gaming will be able to handle just about anything else i do. What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes? 1350. Im willing to go over slightly if for good reason. That is the cost I want for PC alone. 250-300 for a monitor. When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy. July 7th is when the new Ryzen CPUs come out so around then. What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? New York. There isnt a microcneter near me but I am thinking about driving out to one if its worth it.

If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated. No parts this is my first PC build. Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? I will overclock if possible and with some suggestions on how to. Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? I know i want an SSD and an HDD. Idk if i should wait for the new Ryzens or not. Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-tower/full-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components? Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference? Extra info or particulars: If the new Ryzen CPUs are worth the wait i would like a hypothetical build with one of them. If not any build suggestions are appreciated.

The 1.9 TDI with pump-jet direct injection technology and turbocharger has a standard six-gear transmission, but can also be combined with the innovative DSG direct shift gearbox. The engine accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 13.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 176 km/h (DSG: 174 km/h). With average fuel consumption of only 6.2 (DSG: 6.5) liters for 100 km it is also extra thrifty. The pump-jet four-cylinder direct injection of the 2.0 TDI attains a full 320 Nm of torque. In combination with the standard six-gear transmission it has a top speed of 196 km/h. The 140 hp TDI can be optionally equipped with direct shift gearbox. As a TDI DSG Germany's most popular compact van goes 194 km/h. It has average fuel consumption of only 6.2 (DSG: 6.8) liters over 100 km. The second 2.0 TDI provides superior driving performance: The engine is equipped with a highly innovative Piezo pump-jet high-pressure unit-injector system and two balancer shafts. This very quiet four-valve TDI has an output of 125 kW / 170 hp (4,200 rpm), developing torque of 350 Nm (1,750 to 2.500 rpm) and accelerating the CrossTouran to 100 km/h in only 9.2 seconds. Top speed is 210 km/h (208 km/h with DSG). Here too average fuel consumption is only 7 liters over 100 kilometers.

Review: 2017 Volkswagen Golf R - Canadian Auto ReviewIt doesn't really matter if the talent level in your foursome is different as there are three ways to get a point on each hole. The first one on the green gets Bingo, after everyone is on the green whoever is closest to the pin gets Bango and whoever scores the best score gets Bongo. One point for each gives everyone a chance to get points. Sometimes being just off the green on your approach gives you a better chance at scoring Bango but maybe less of a chance of getting Bingo or Bongo. Great lens. I do play sometimes and the Golf Cart Polo sounds like fun. Hmmmm, Golf Cart Polo? I'll remember that next time I have a rebellious streak! This is great for changing up the game a bit. Great ideas for adding creativity on the golf course. I need to try these out soon! I like the stink hole game considering that I am not a very good putter. I don't know how many times I have chipped the ball on the green and wished the pin placement was at a different spot.

I would save a lot of strokes this way. Some good ideas here. Some cool ideas here. But a point about your "best ball" game. You are actually describing a scramble. The term "best ball" is used to describe a game where the player who has the best score for a given hole counts for the team. Each player plays their own ball throughout. The nice thing about best ball is that you can keep track of your individual score while still having the team score. A variation is the Texas Scramble in which all 4 players in a foursome tee off. They pick the best tee shot of the 4 but play individually for the rest of the hole. This can be helpful if you have some players who hit into the woods, water, OB. There is less time spent looking for lost balls. Me and my friends love to enter Four Man Scramble tournaments.

You can shoot really low, our lowest score was -18 at a course in Orlando, FL. It takes the pressure away as everybody hits from the same spot after choosing the best previous shot. Ever hear of RED ball? Each team plays with a red ball, taking turns hitting it on each hole. At the end the team who has not lost their red ball puts it in a jar for a drawing. The balls are numbered with the team number in advance. I had no idea, thanks! Best Ball as you define it is called a scramble. Best ball is as it sounds, the lowest score on each hole is counted for the score of the team. Golf cart polo sounds fun, but I agree you'd get kicked off pretty handily. Thanks for the great list. A friend of mine likes to play Wolf, but he's a lot better than I am. He plays in a regular Wolf game at Cobblestone Golf Course in Georgia. Their group usually has too much money for me to feel comfortable with. I'm going to suggest some of the new games that I found on your lens.

Brand New Volkswagen From Old School Cars

gangway corridor office in chaos white
Volkswagen's new range of cars is a combination of its old models and new technology. Most of the current models still have some traces of the old designs of their predecessors. Foremost among these is the New Beetle. From its name alone, it can be inferred that the brand is a redesign of the old Type 1 Beetle car, the heart and soul of the Volkswagen brand. The New Beetle's "gene" is undoubtedly an offspring of the historic Beetle. It bears a striking resemblance to the older version. The new generations of the Rabbit/Golf, Polo and Passat models are of no exception as well. It seems that Volkswagen will not go away with the "looks" that made its cars famous. Despite the apparent likeness of the new versions, Volkswagen made great effort to give its new cars a new look. The new Golf, for example, has been given a rigid, sporty appearance. The tail end of the car makes the most striking difference with new designs.

The new Golf's body is also designed with prominent lines on the sides and a highly glossed radiator grille. The new Passat CC, meanwhile, has a dynamic, elegant and modern interior design. The interior trims are made of high quality Walnut and Vavona woods with Titanium Silver inlays. Its body, while retaining the old coupe design, has been added with a muscular line below the window of its doors. This feature was added to allow a smooth passage of the wind, thus preventing a barrier on the car's speed. The new range of Volkswagen contract hire cars jives really well with the new generation. The carmaker is now offering a clean-diesel technology to several of its brands. Models such as the Beetle, Golf and Jetta have Turbocharged Direct Injection (TDI) diesel engines that landed on the list of top ten fuel-efficient cars in the United States. This new technology will allow all TDI diesel engine Volkswagen cars to be driven with biodiesel fuel. However, Volkswagen has not yet introduced an electric car into the market.

That stopped me even thinking about evacuation because it was impossible to see anything. As I pondered these things it suddenly got much darker outside, like midnight. That's when I called my sister Robyn, in Camden about 3 hours north. I explained the situation and my brother-n-law, John, who has years of mine rescue experience told me to plug my downpipes, fill my guttering with water and hose down the roof. With him on the hands free I manipulated the ladder and climbed up, now in pitch dark, and did as he told me. There was a pelting of something like rain and I told him about it. He could not understand that. Then there was an enormous wind. It was like a tornado and it sounded like a massive freight train passing through. Later I would discover than my peach tree was split in half and most of it was knocked over.

Later I discovered that the "rain" was in fact embers and that there were little burns over my arms and legs. Having hosed down the roof, front and back, I noticed the neighbors in a huddle across the street. It was getting a bit lighter and on speaking to them I discovered that the whole of Mount Taylor, about a hundred meters from the house, had gone up in flames. The electric sub-station had gone with it, thus explaining the sudden blackout. A house was destroyed in my street and in the next street another house was blown down with several losing their roofs. Loud explosions could be heard in all directions and it was probably car petrol tanks but a neighbor said it could be gas bottles. By 5p.m. we could breath again but the drama was not over. It was unbelievable that no warnings were sounding, no alarms were ringing, no evacuations were ordered.
